  1. Yeah thats a bit fucked he acted like that, sure you rode the scooter without the license, which is a bit naughty, but you are taking the initiative and correct steps (and passing them) to correct that problem, who the fuck is he to get hoity toity about that and threaten to not award you the cert? after you passed it? thats not cool, and id say not terribly acceptable behaviour if his higher ups were to find out

  2. Yeah I would hope he only wants a valid photo ID, be it a car Licence or 18+ card or whatever

As far as I am aware (at least in my experience) you cant apply for, or obtain a bike learners licence without the BHST cert, so him requiring you to have a Learner Bike license before awarding you the BHST cert is just batty

  3. It is a GEU yeah?

Is the AFM plugged in firmly? they tend to go full pig rich as a sort of failsafe when the ECU cant see the AFM

Also even try running it with the AFM unplugged if it is plugged in, a stuffed AFM can also make it go mental rich for no reason, or even if you want to check the flapper inside the AFM and see that it moves freeley, and also springs back to its original position after moving it with your fingers

  4. On the other side of the table, I had a tidy set of facelift AE111 Toyota Trueno Tail lights for sale, I paid $100 for them years before and put them back up at that price, 2 guys just went mental on it and I ended up getting $550 for them!

    Was absolutley blown away!

  5. With those V12's it will possibly have really wimpy cams in it as it is - to keep it "coin balance" smooth while running, that was the highest priority for those engines, maybe its a case of not being able to grind whats there as there is not much there in the first place?

I am keen to know the actual reason for that though, im just repeating stuff I have heard from others, it could be total cobblers haha

  6. Hmm thats a good idea, Ill look at cleaning and checking those pipes too

I didint see a filter on the water pump to thermostat bypass pipe, its just a regular rubber hose, perhaps its been changed already? it was in pretty bad shape like the rest of the rubber hosing

I dont plan to be terribly hard on it haha, but I should find out what the thermostat I got is rated for temp wise, Its a Toyota OEM replacement one so I can look at up and find out

  7. Awesome, thanks for all of that guys, its really really helpful to me

The thermostat is installed at 12 oclock (or the highest point is where the bleed hole is located anyway) will pull it out for doing the cleaning with soda crystals as advised and put it back like it was so thats all good,

I need to get coolant\concentrate anyway so ill make sure to grab a thick neck funnel or something suitable to act as as a coolant reservoir, thats a really cool idea too, as it burps air out its going to auto fill and it takes some of the stress out of the whole process, you just have to top it up as needed and you dont have to constantly watch it, you can spend that time looking for leaks elsewhere haha, i probably wouldnt have thought of that myself

Gonna need to sort beer too, oh no woe is me hahahah

Yeah thats a fair point about the cleaning too, might as well replace everything thats dodgy, as it will go eventually like its been said, would be silly not to

  8. Hey everyone

Im just looking for advice on the above, I have a 3T-GTE I am currently doing a heap of maintenance on, the cooling system being a ticking time bomb from what ive seen

The oiling system is pristine, but the cooling system resembled Campbells chunky beef soup, and everything looked like it was still OEM from 30 years ago, hoses, water pump, the lot

The water pump was worn out and making bad noises, and all of the hoses were perished, cracking, and bulging, rotten and old to the point that you could rip them into 2 dusty halves if you got angry enough with them

I bit the bullet and stripped out the lot, all the hard lines, the hoses, sent the radiator away to be cleaned and tested, replaced the water pump and thermostat as well as gaskets - the hard lines were pretty grotty but I was able to clean them back to actual metal and they should be ok, thermostat housing barbs were the same, but there is enough meat left after cleaning them back to real metal for a hose clamp so might be ok there also

Once I replace all the hoses and re assemble it all, the only thing in the entire system I wont have touched is the heater core, and Ill be carrying a set of tools and length of hose in the car specifically for if that decides it wants to change career and be a colander in the future

When I have it all back together, from all the work done there is only going to be a small amount of coolant in the system, whatever didint drain out of the block and heater core pretty much, so it might as well be a "dry fill" and there is going to be a lot of air in the system that is going to need burped, Im wanting to find the best practice to try and get all the air out? all I can think of is jacking the nose up as high as I can get it to go, filling it like that cold, slowly so coolant makes its way where ever it can, starting the car and topping up the coolant as it hopefully pumps out the rest of the air? if there are any other ideas I can use as well id be really appreciative!

once thats all done and its running good again, I want to see if there is anything I can do about the general crustyness of the cooling system, im not so keen on running those agressive cooling system flushes as it may strip out something holding it altogether and turn the lot into a sprinkler system haha, but maybe a gentle flush? or is there anything that can be added to stop it getting worse aside from good quality fresh coolant and frequent changes?
