Read that on facey - fuck yeah, shame the head gasket blew - wonder what it would have ended up as.

Yeah I've heard that but haven't experienced it myself except my brothers old VJ had a huge flat spot we couldn't quite get rid of.

@RUNAMUCK yeah got set of pacemakers.
I googled the early/late slant thingy and came up with two lots of frost plug sets 3 for early and 5 for later but it didn't mention what year they changed over.

Fixed... I think...

How do you tell if it's a late block?
Yeah the Single Barrel Air Cleaner won't fit, well won't fit under the bonnet... could cut hole for much speed.
Bit of work fitting the 2bbl: Different manifold, accel cable/kickdown bracketry and convert kickdown to cable. Will do the other things on the list first.

@grunta being the GC he is kindly sent me his old Carter 2 BBL!! So will look at rebuilding that and slapping it on at some stage in the near future.

hey man what the plan for your motor? rebuild ?
Only the outside!!
Had to take it out to repair some shit around the steering box on the chassis. Repainting engine, while I'm there. Just deciding whether or not to paint engine bay as I'm thinking when I come to repaint the whole thing I'm going strip it right back so probably no point doing it now.

I thought i was looking at my old VG when i first read this thread! I sold it to a guy down in gore before i moved to Melbourne in 2006 but you have had your one a lot longer obviously.
Mine had a 360, it went pretty hard.
Hopefully all that rust doesn't put you off too much, you should see the 68 impala im currently restoring...
My neighbour still owns this one!

After Neal's pep talk (reality check of what he reckoned it's worth in today's market after I finish it/undo all the neglect and mistreatment I've given it) I decided today that I'm going to invest every penny from the soon to be sold E34 in finishing it.
And I saw the father in law today. He's just got a new motor for his sewing machine. So he's going to finish my seats for me. (He still has another two weeks off)
What's this E34 you speak of?
-
might flip the origional just needs holes modified / elongated.
I thought about doing that, but there's quite a bit to drill out - 5-6mm. But it's commonly done with out any probs.

these from pp&r?
Yeah man, $95Aus
Fitted straight in, if you had the skills though it'd be easy to make.
