  1. Nah, meckal. " In primer, ready to paint to your vehicles specification " Anyway, if they're wrong it'll be Dell'orto's problem.
  2. I was just checking the pics on rockauto and US spec Hilux images and had decided to look at it exactly like you said So I'm ordering them right now, delivery June 19th. £14 to ship from the states. Bargain. /I'll be round to yours if they don't fit.
  3. Yeah, and putting 3100/280Z/2600 cover on a lame 2000 would be tragic. I was looking at kevs thread on JNC earlier and thinking just that.
  4. I think this is what they call a "First World Problem" /cant help thinking about what happened when I 'tricked up' the Hilux sump.....
  5. Which was probably my favourite idea until...... That's all the wrong way round but I kind of like it. I may need to find pics.
  6. What happened was....... I hadn't put quite enough rtv on one rear corner so it leaked again. Shame really as it was spot on everywhere else. Pulled it off (fnaar) and re-did it with a fresh gasket, a smear of rtv and a very small ratchet. It's fine now. Put a new stat in as it wasn't getting up to temp, but apart from that it's been ace. Decided I'm definitely going to fancy it up with a bit of paint, it's looked like a Mad Max extra ever since I've owned it. Found the Rockauto do a bumper for 9 quid and a valance for 5. What a bargain. Postage ? £ 170.00 That's one hundred and seventy pounds. Flipping Nora. Going to start prepping and priming once it stops raining. /No pics for fred soz
  7. Konnichiwa. It's been a while. I've been using it quite a bit when the sun shines, but was aware that the worn water pump & tired brakes weren't going to mend themselves anytime soon. Thanks to wise words from @kyteler @sheepers @Spencer I've bought a pile of stuff off that internet... Calipers look close enough though I'll probably need too make up some pipes. I saw on 'Rubbersoul dot pricey' that they were offering Datto 510 wheel cylinders as an option for the hako so I got a pair off rockauto and they seem the same. I got the 510 shoes as well, they look to be the same from what I could gather but we'll see. Bit of a gamble but I can always sell them on. So once the weather chirps up a bit I'll get it on stands and crack on. Need to adjust the valves, it's a little rattly but nothing serious. Gonna do something with the cam cover while I'm in there, either polish it up or black crackle finish. Any thoughts gladly received, except a Japanese rising sun Kyokujitsu-ki thingy, thanks. Other little worry is the diff. Bit loose and clonky. Gonna have a good look at it see what's what. May well investigate the Subaru R180 modification, or see if I can get an LSD for mine. That's it for now, hopefully some progress soon.
  8. Ha ha ha. Nope. Damn close but a bit of a drip at the gearbox end. Fuuuuuuuuu......... /Still, practice makes perfect !
  9. Glued. Think I have achieved the correct gap-fill/splurge ratio to keep the oil in the sump and the RTV out of the oil pump. /fingers crossed, If this doesn't work I've got a 3.9 RV8/ Holley combo lined up.
  10. Milk & two sugars ? Just dropped the oil out again... /wish me luck.
  11. Stop it. If it cant survive a painted sump, a turbo will kill it for sure. /I'll stick with "gutless".
  12. The top of your head is correct. I gorilla'd them, relatively speaking That was my next plan if I've fucked the gasket. That or buy a cork tile and cut one out. /old skool.
  13. Except for still having a leaky sump, it seems. Someone, at some time in the past, over-tightened the sump bolts and deformed the gasket. (For "someone", read "me") (For "at some time in the past", read "last Saturday") It was fine for a bit & then it wasn't. Still, the chassis definitely isn't going to rust now. Surely I'll get it right in the end with all this practice.
  14. There isn't a single problem in life that cant be improved by painting your sump red. Not a speck of metal in the bottom of the pan, bit pleased after all these years/miles. New gaskets & crank seal fitted, hopefully running leak free in the morning.
  15. That ebay link you sent is UK so it'll do fine thanks.
  16. Thanks KY, you're great. Did you order it for me too ?
  17. Hey troops Mine's got a wobbly bearing, (1972 L20) It's only a matter of time till it commits Seppuku. Are all L series water pumps the same ? Fanx.
  18. Nah. Yeah, nah. Decided on orange' it'll go with my intended paint job. Maybe folks'll think it's got a Hemi in it, as long as it's not running or moving. Liking the turd skid plate idea tho.
  19. Hey Fred. Hilux has been mostly fine, various bits fitted to make life easier. New window mechanisms, door locks, rad cap, etc. Noticed a few drips of oil on the drive one day. Next day, full Amoco Cadiz spec under there. I dunno, you leave a truck in a field for 10 years.... To be fair I should have put a new crank seal in when I had it apart in the winter, but I was cold and it didn't look too bad. That, and the sump was held on with good luck & optimism. Pics... I thought I'd already done this once. I like to change my cambelt every 1100 miles, better safe than sorry.... Gonna do the sump gasket too, it'll give me a chance to clean the pick up mesh and see if there are any spare parts in the bottom of the sump. Big question is, what colour do I paint the sump while it's off ? Fancying red. Or maybe yellow.
  20. Google translate says "Good Traffic". I concur and I thank you. /although I don't know why.... //blardy poms.
