  1. Not even in Wales. Maybe in Scotland but it probably wouldn't have a roof. *edit* Yep, it hasn't got a roof... https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-75876194.html
  2. Just looking on carsensor. 2000 GT sedans similar spec to mine but mostly with the correct single carb and I assume as rust free as mine, are around the 3.5 to 4.8 million Yen mark. There's a stock GT-X coupe for 14 million. Kenmeri, you say ? https://www.carsensor.net/usedcar/detail/CU8951213963/index.html?TRCD=200002
  3. You ask him, I'm looking at the ridiculous price of these things now in Japan. Maybe I should sell it back to them. no one's going to pay that money for them now, surely ?
  4. When I bought mine, you didn't have to be rich. Now you'd definitely be poor once you'd bought one. But yes, if Morris were still making badges in metal then, what were Nissan thinking ?
  5. Yeah Nah Looks like I'm way too tight to own a nice car. Maybe I'll look into it when I paint it. /still surprised it's not metal to be honest.
  6. Thanks man, I knew you'd know. Bit sad they're not metal but hey-ho. 75 quid though... Really ? Theirs are metal though, right ? Guess that's why mine was bodged together. Think I'm playing with the big boys now. / I've always liked a shaved bootlid.
  7. Bonsoir. Kind of faffed around doing a pre house-move list in the garage earlier & avoiding cutting steel for the Hilux bed. Went to get some mower fuel in the Skyline and noticed the boot lid badge is pretty mank So I thought I'd clean it up a bit. It's badly painted and a bit damaged. Gently does it, bit of heat, *snap*.... Oh, it's made of plastic then. Oops. So that's fucked. Are they all plastic or is it just a horrible replica ? I bet @kyteler, font of all things Skyline, knows. Still its death wasn't all in vain, it managed to bugger the paint up too..... Oh well, better go off to the other end and see if I can mess that up as well. I've fancied doing the centre pair of headlights yellow for a while. When I was a kid French cars had yellow lamps and it was quite exotic seeing them driving around. Japanese tuners seem to feel this way too, though ironically it seems to now be seen as JDM around the world. Anyway, I did them and it looks mint. To me, at least. Also did the twin filament bulbs (side/indicator) to hopefully avoid the close shaves I have because flashing white lights confuse Poms, apparently. pics. Next installment will hopefully include a rear exhaust box & a parcel shelf. Thank you for reading.
  8. Small update... Been trying to resist the temptation to just bolt the proper bed back on and be done with all this messing about, especially as we're moving house soon & I'm making the truck less useful. Never mind, I resisted. Added some lights and stuff. Cut some steel up for the crosspieces, going to make a perimeter frame out of 2" angle and fill it with scaff boards. This width will keep it legal (just) with the 33 x 12.5's, but I may still chop a bit off as the front ones stick out anyway. Also, was watching a "Columbo" earlier from 1991. / fancy SR5 for fred. That's your lot, I'm off to bed.
  9. Just looked at your Fred, that's a meany. You still got it ? Put a flatbed on it. Sell me your tub. Go on.
  10. That's pretty cool..... And way beyond what I'm going to do ! Thanks for sharing with the group, though. In my case try visualizing something similar only made from 30 feet of 2" angle, some galvanized racking, assorted rear lighting and some scaff planks. Oh, and some hooks. /until I work out how I'm going to afford getting a new bed (or 3) over from Australia.
  11. Right. That's that bit off there then. Ain't never going back on neither. And that's that other bit primed And that's your lot. Better tidy up that filthy bit at the bottom and nail something else onto it I s'pose. You're welcome
  12. Ooh, that's the fancy version of what I use
  13. Not wanting to be a smart arse or anything but I've always bled brakes on my own using a rubber tube, blocked at one end with a slit cut in the side. Just keep pumping away at the pedal keeping an eye on the reservoir, it's always seemed to work for me. If I need to come up with a theory why it works I'd probably say you're forcing the air out, not trying to trick it out ? I can't imagine I've just been jammy over the years. /two penneth...
  14. Do you know what, I was waiting for some keen eyed chiv to say that. You were in the top 3 Yeah, I know. I've looked into getting a set a few times, I'll do it as part of a big order from the Land Of The Rising Prices. I did some research but they don't seem to be the same as anything else. It drives ok, if I get new ones they'll only wear out again. Anyway, just look at the cover.
  15. I'm pretty sure I've never cleaned up an engine bay in my life, apart from to tidy up oil disasters. I can see the attraction, but only to a point (like about 30 minutes after you start). Still, I gave it a shot.Bent my thumb nail back cleaning behind the servo. It hurt and blood came out but I didn't cry. Put the cam cover & air cleaner back on and polished the dashpots up a bit. Pleased with how it came out. /pic Might wrinkle finish the fan shroud, but that'll be it.
  16. Went to the garage this morning and found the wrinkle fairies had been busy..... Well pleased with how that came out so decision decided on the cam cover. Spot of magic paint, (plus a sneaky beer) and left it in the sun..... Came back 30 minutes later & what is this witchcraft ? Good choice me thinks. I'll let it dry for a couple of days and then have a go at sanding back the lettering. In the meantime I'd better clean the engine bay up. / pics when it's back together.
  17. G'day. 6 weekly update... A few little things are going to get done thanks to lock down boredom/family avoidance. Engine bay needs a bit of a tidy. It's mostly just dirt but the cam cover & air cleaner look a bit shit. Had the big debate about polishing the cam cover or going wrunkle funnish. Black wrinkle won and was ordered but I thought I'd just mess about with some 3000 grit & a bit of Autosol coz it was a nice day. Looks OK for not too much bother, may just go with it. Sprayed the air cleaner though. Yes, not orange. After about an hour it was starting to crinkle up quite nicely Went out later and it was looking ace. No pics/ it was dark. Sooo..... What's it going to be for the cam cover ? Not sure, I'll choose in the morning /Prace bets now.
  18. Yeah, that's pretty cool. Nothing's set in stone. If I was driving around as much as usual I'd probably have spotted the right colour by now. We''ll see.
  19. Plugging on today after I got the pip with her stupid car. More primer than patina now... Yeah, fucken awesome rat rod bro ! Nah.... That's the neatest it's ever looked in my ownership, a bit disturbing really. Was trying to decide between "Creme" and Brown, plus stripes as shown earlier Carol pointed out that the brown is pretty close to the colour of a lot modern pickups by Mitsubishi and Toyota, which I sneeringly refer to as "ginger".... So Creme it is then. But not quite yet as I can't go to either of the places I can spray it.
  20. Little bit of end of the day progress. Funny how a bit of blue masking tape makes it look like you know what you're doing. /I don't know what I'm doing
  21. Tiny update. Started wet sanding and priming today, Did the bonnet, valance(s) , scuttle and the bit under the scuttle. Err... Wiper mechanism sub-scuttle air intake area ? Anyway, don't think I've got the patience for this level of prep anymore, may have to get the 4" brush out. /pics Gonna order some new wings though. I'm not a masochist.
  22. 18 month update, air-cooled fans.... Since I got the Hako on the road and the Hilux out of the shit, the poor lil' Bug hasn't had much of a look in. Despite my attachment to the old crate I've spent most of today discovering that it really is well beyond any reasonable restoration. It's not hopeless but the amount of rot & fibreglass along with the fact that it seems to have a bit of a twist front to rear means its fate is sealed as the donor for the beach buggy. Guess I'll just hang the roof on the workshop wall & scrap the rest. However..... Before that day comes there is every possibility that it (along with the other two cars) are going on a 230 mile road trip to New Shuzz Towers (if it doesn't all fall through thanks to stupid virus). So I've checked it through, given it an engine service and a road test and have certified it not entirely likely to break down on the way, hopefully. I also (finally) fitted my Empi mudflaps which took a ridiculous amount of time but I've got nothing better to do ! Gloomy, end of the day pic for Fred /Hang loose, etc
