Fashionably late, this is what I was doing when it was slightly warmer than it is now.
The Vintage Hot Rod Association holds an annual speed trial for pre-1949 vehicles at Pendine Sands, a 7 mile stretch of low tide smoothness in South wales. Top speed this year was 116 mph over the measured mile, pretty scary on wet sand and cross plies.
I went up on the Sunday, a couple of mates were running cars that I had helped build. Poured with rain on the 3 hour drive down but the sun shone soon after. Bonnets were a new thing for 2015, a riveted fan blade let go last year and gave some folks a bit of a fright !
Hope you enjoy.
Two new cars on the way for next year, it's already fully booked but I've got a ticket so all's well
Cheers, Dan.
