Anyone know whats the process for re-registering a scooter/moped? Got a couple of 80's NQ50's that are wanting to put back on the road.
Have found both their frame numbers(too old for vin plate).
Is it just a matter of filling out a form at vtnz or do they need to do an inspection? -

This wee truck is so call I want one!!! Not sure what for just want one.
If a deal pops up i say do it! Find myself making excuses to use it, even made some money off doing pickup/deliveries for mates.
This ones been really good on gas (even if doing 5.5k @ 100kph) been getting 7.8l/100km no matter how hard i drive it.

Did a little clear out of the garage during lockdown and found my wheel collection so decided to test fit them and see what size flares i need to make.
Need at least 60mm for the 6 black wheels and 90mm for the formula mesh.
Fitted a Momo Prototipo i forgot i had bought.
Picked up a wood lathe and did a couple of near 500kg dump runs.
And worked out how to get a stock looking tachometer into it.
Discovered on a Japanese forum that the Mitsubishi Townbox dash cluster has identical wiring, just need to run 1 wire from the ecu to the cluster for the tach signal.
Works perfect, has a dual trip meter and now know that the limiter is at 7500rpm.- 13

Thanks to @Beaver for bringing up these Nifty 50's for a friend and I.
Black one we managed to get running after jump starting it with the minicab, goes really well and even got it to 50k's on our short street.
Red one is going to take some work(couldnt get it to turn over), only front brake works, had a 6v alarm battery in it, no ignition with half the loom missing, led underglows and a random cars foglight as the headlight.
Long term goals will be AF18 swaps out of Honda Dio and possibly lengthening the frame on the red one so my lanky ass fits on it properly.

What’s the price of 91 in New Zealand now? A cool 85 cents here in Perth.
Station i pass on way to work is around $1.90

Run 95 in all my cars and 2 stroke tools. Am wondering if 91 might burn faster and make cold starts on the weed whacker and chainsaw easier?

Picked up the lathe today, wasn't prepared for the scale of it even though the guy sent through all the measurements. Very happy with it for $250.
Just need to get some chucks/spurs, chisels and a live center for the tail stock.- 17

Figured the cheapest option would be to swap out to a single phase motor then sell the 3 phase one? I'm a little lost when it comes to AC wiring and operation.
-
Scored a tanner 3phase table saw from work, will need a freshen up, converting to single phase and get some wood blades to replace the diamond/stone blade.

Sounds fun, I'd be keen and could probably convince some mates to build one too

Interesting looking bikes, whats the gist of velobike riding/racing?
Strap a certain power motor to a modified bike frame and see how fast you can go or is it bracket racing?- 1

Sounds like an interesting design, definitely interested in pics

Have measured, should juuust fit, if not diagonally.
Take it you'd volunteer to store it in your shed too?
Worst case I'll just take it apart a bit.- 1

Have organised to pick this lathe up after lockdown is lifted. Can't wait to have a go at wood turning again.
Will need to get some arbors, chucks and chisels to get started.

Got some keyed chucks and and morse tapers for a customer through Chevpac, even did a titanuim one which the customer loved.
Will go there when I get around to changing the one on a drill press I got given from work -

The number of old lathes and other machining shite on trademe is currently skyrocketing. Maybe in a month or two the prices will drop
Got a couple of searches saved, definitely some deals to be had just need to travel.
Thornton auctions has had a couple of workshop lots come up as well.
I am wanting to make a small woodworking shop at home.
Just scored some old machinery from work, drill press, dust extractor and table saw(3 phase but think a new motor will sort that).
Keeping an eye out for a lathe and a scroll saw.- 5

Was a mates bike so left it up to him to decide on how it was lashed down.
Picking up some scooters in a few weeks so will try a couple different ways to see whats best.
Must say it handles a lot better with some weight on it also was still happy to get up to motorway speeds. -

BOC can help you out with one
I have considered that route but really don't want to risk breaking an axle since everything has to come out of Japan.
Going to grab a Carry or similar kei trucks diff and see if they use the same housing/axle splines/prop shaft flanges.
That or wait till another complete Minicab/clipper/townbox diff comes up on Yahoo Japan and get moonlight to bring it in

Thought i'd make a thread to keep track of the progress and antics i get up to with the truck.
Basic details.
2005 Mitsubishi Minicab Truck
3G83 - 3cyl 660cc 12 valve SOHC, 10.2:1 compression
5 Speed manual
6.857:1 open diff
14x5.5 +39 wheels with 165/60-14 tyres
Moves a surprising amount of weight around, this trip to the dump tipped the scales at 1230kg with a passenger. (Considering its only 700kg dry weight)
Also done numerous trips to Bunnings for building supplies and taking my bikes places.
Ordered new parts off yahoo japan. Replacement drivers seat belt buckle as it didnt come with one and a factory tool/storage box that bolts under the tray.
Future mods planned are different wheels, flares to suit, lowering springs, full paint job and an LSD install once i figure out what fits( factory ones are rare as hens teeth).- 11

Replacement leaf springs it is then
-
Possibly been covered before but i assume i'd need a cert if i converted my minicab from diff under spring to over spring by getting the perches put on the other side?
