  1. Yeah, you'll be paying premium for Watanabes but there were some on trademe last night in 14" for $500 but they're gone now. Here's an idea of nz price (wrong offset I realise) http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/wheels-tyres/alloy-wheels/auction-876580298.htm I'm looking at these for my S30 at the moment but shipping and GST might kill it: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic05a01/25-1065
  2. Series 1 too! awesome stuff. Love the original hubs man those are hard to find.
  3. 5 Speed Yeah, a few of the hoses are pretty brittle so will definitely replace them after she's legal
  4. I definitely got her for less than what she's worth based on the red/orange one from Tauranga that sold on Trademe a month or so ago for $26460. which left me with extra budget should anything go south from here. I definitely felt guilty, not quite criminal haha
  5. Haha thanks all, I really dig the red upholstery. So 70's!
  6. Extra bits of Charm: Original dealer's sticker in the rear window! Original petrol cap spill flap Came with the original papers and manual from dealer
  7. Mmkay, so I've had time to tinker and found two cylinders were intermittent. Changed out the old sparkies for new NGK's and replaced the oil which looked pretty yuck. Here are some more photos for y'all: Interior is super clean bar a couple of rips in the seats. I dig the red and black. very 70's.
  8. Yeah man Pahiatua. Took 5 hours driving each way with the trailer but worth every minute. The wife of the owner told us he had bought a Nissan Patrol or something like that which I'm guessing was easier for him to get in and out of so he just drove that for a daily and when the rego lapsed on the Z he didn't re-vin so she sat there hibernating. I had almost given up on finding one after 5 months of searching here and in the states. Started looking at 350z's on trademe and when I found out about this I had no hesitation. Really excited to get her on the road.
  9. There is minor rust coming through the rear of the front guards but nothing major. I think there has been a rust demolition in the tail sill and hatch near the key button but For interior the seats need a bit of love. but hood lining, door cards, dash and carpets are mint Unsure of touch ups on the guards but nothing noticeable. There is minor rust in the front guards coming through and I'm fairly sure the rear hatch sill has been replaced or repaired in the past but nothing new coming up through there. I'll get it on the road and drive it until the rust bothers me too much then do a full scorched earth approach on the rust before a repaint to match the original paint in the engine bay.
  10. Oh right, I forgot do do one of these discussion things. Cheers, I'm so so happy with her
  11. Hi everyone, I recently acquired the car of my dreams and Greg (64Valiant) has told me to share it with you. I'm pretty new to forums but here we go: She's a 1972 Datsun 240z in off-white/cream. The previous owner had her since 1976. The Z was driving around 20 or so years ago, but has been parked up in a garage with a cover since around 1995. He passed away four years ago and the family decided to sell it through the Z Club to find an enthusiast to bring her back to glory. Luckily, I was the first serious buyer and the rest is history. NZ new car 85000 original miles I'm the third owner Interior is near mint (no cracks in the dash and factory radio still installed) Minimal rust (no such thing as a no-rust 240 haha) She runs but clutch won't engage, so is probably fused to the flywheel which should be interesting. The rego has lapsed and I'm trying to keep the black plates naturally, so anyone familiar with this process please shout out! Currently assessing what needs doing for Re-vin and looking at options after that. I will keep her mostly stock, only changing the suspension to something a bit stiffer and throwing on some 15 or 16" Minilites or Watanabes a bit later on in the piece. She's a real darling so I'm not going to deflower her with flares or an Airdam. I've probably forgotten something else important but I'm sure you'll all point it out. Looking forward to chatting and meeting everyone. Thanks for reading, -Reubin First fresh air for 20 odd years! Discussion Thread
