Should be fun finding out

Not an update really, at the moment I'm just sorting through the spares.
Here's approx 1/2 of them
Boxes chocca with modules and spares like this

I thought the white roof wasn't standard, but done later?
My Dad bought a new blue mini'thou which changed from a blue roof to white after they treated the rust around the top seam so assumed all the white ones just had repairs done?
Agree it looks better in white though.

Another moment of stupidity and I'm now the owner of a 32 channel Calrec S analog mixing desk.
I figured it's a winter project with the assumption that it's going to freeze over for the next decade and I'll then emerge with a 3ft beard and a completed desk.
The unit came with tons of spares, reportedly cost upwards of $750k when purchased in the early 2000's and there won't be a person here that hasn't heard the results of this desk.
Its both a bit of NZ broadcasting history and also an interesting project to add to the collection and help to kit out my retro analog sound room/studio when it's completed.
In it's current naked state
What it's supposed to look like.
It takes a truckload of cards like this

If you haven't had any luck, buy a logic probe, fairly cheap. Sounds like either a bad chip/joint like you said, the probe will let you know if you are getting count states and triggers etc without the need for guessing

are you getting a display at all for the mins/ hours?

Being a 6v battery wont cause any issues.
What I've picked up over the years about batteries is (possibly right/wrong)
This stuff works, especially after the battery sulphates a bit and impurities reduce the effectiveness of the acid to act as an electrolyte.
The only "gotcha" is that the plates over use/discharges/time wear and particles fall to the bottom of the battery
The battery is designed to handle this by incorporating wells at the bottom of the battery for the worn off material to fall into
Once these wells fill up with too much material a couple of things happen, the plates lose effectiveness because if the increased distance between them, holes can appear further reducing the battery effectiveness, but the killer for the battery is that the well fills up with lead particles worn off the plates and shorts out the plates, killing the cell..
That's how an it was explained to me, never heard this explanation since but it seems to make sense.

i trawled the swapmeet Saturday morning.
Didn't text the guy ...................... because I knew I couldn't afford it.
Dropped in and chilled (literally) under the OS tent for 1/2 hour
Got enough sunburn and saw enough of the same old cars so decided to go home.
Hallertau having beers and oysters at 12.
Fixed to match my day, Mid dayish.. 2 No.1 beers, Dozen oysters FTW.

Cheers rusty, theres a video in the OS drags pic thread, none of it as a weed blower.
Yet.
It's a load of fun to ride as a normal bike, even though I'm way to big for it I find it really comfortable compared to the mountain bike so I built a second cruiser for the kids to ride, 3rd one being built at present.

Another interesting use in this form, when it's not creating future customers for the local hearing aid supplier its an awesome weed blower.
Very effective on concrete, not so much on grass as it has a tendency to scorch things which in itself in another bonus as there's not usually a lot of weed/rubbish left to throw in the bin either.

I reckon a feed from the black/red and black/white coil wires would be the go into a diode/regulator and current limiting circuit to trickle charge a small battery if it currently puts out 12v, you'd want to check the voltage and current output first and make sure you dont affect the ignition or overheat the coil although there are probably easier options as suggested above.

It's called old age mate. Get used to it.

Few more pics,
Had to redesign the remote after the first run, Originally it was designed to be in the off position at 6oclock ,standby at 9, throttle from 9 to 4, but I kept accidentally shutting the engine off when throttling down.
So I added a 2nd switch, the top switch is power and bottom one is standby/ run so the throttle is now adjustable on for the entire range of the rotary knob, all I need to to to shut down normally is turn the throttle to minimum and throw the4 bottom switch to standby which lets it stay powered for the cooling cycle.
Here's a couple of pics of the unit on it's own, it's designed to be added to any healing cruiser and just uses the seat bolt to attach.
and the final touch, the tank stickers ,thanks to Bangbug for printing these off last minute.

clad the alloy enclosure in tweed with suitcase corners and roll picnic blanket round fuel tank?
seriously considering this!

bloody brilliant, keeping the sprung carrier arm there is great!
It worked out quite useful actually, it locks the frame into place and acts as a tiny rollbar

Also, credit due to Polecat for a very last minute "can you build this stainless thingy" with crap drawings on paper and little notice, cheers!

Hamilton Swapmeet / Midnight Upholstery Open day 15th May
in Upper North Island Region
Posted
I'm keen and will have the young fella in tow, what are the odds of organising a place to meet up and score an OS ride somewhere in Hamiltoe?.
