The title of this thread made me think of something entirely different.

I preferred the old system whereby one went to the post office to get new plates issued then thought about getting the car warrantable.
-
...and the car?

Got a quote in the '80s to redo the front bench in my Vanguard. Was $2k then but that was leather. Hate to think what it'd be now. Just chuck some hairy skins over the seats and fasten with hay bale string.

It should but to work perfectly it would rely on both wires maintaining good contact or else one would blow.

Is there any other way to drive them?
-
I read about that in the Darwin Awards. Think it was only an honourable mention but could be wrong.

New ones still got lever brakes tori?
-
The lever operated brakes suggest it is very old. A neighbour has his father's old bike that he brought out from Holland when he emigrated and it has brakes like that. He reckons it is over 100 year old.

Too cool for a house truck. Needs to be used not parked.

Bloody cool project. Not overdone. Totally looks the part and as you say should improve daily use potential enormously.

My XC wags has air shocks. I'm assuming they were fitted to prevent or at least limit arse dragging when towing as the guy I got it from used it tow his race car transporter. Took me years to even notice the valve for them. Without knowing a whole lot about them I'd be inclined to agree with Speeno and go for harder springs.

Yep and the motorway ended at Tristram Ave.

When I got in the office today the boss was all cheerful and even shouted smoko cos he took his E49 Charger to that show and got a prize for it. It's red. Might be just visible in the background of the green HQ pic. Hard to tell cos can't see the whole car.

I have a lot of this stuff. I'm a bit of a hoarder. The collection includes two legitimately issued sets of papers for the same car. Must get around to scanning some of my old shit one day.

There is usually a huge difference between a two door sedan and a coupe. The Ford Model A illustrates this distinction as well as anything else I can immediately think of. As a slightly newer example consider the Mini. Two doors but definitely not a coupe.

What can I say my good Sir?
you and your car have truly earned my respect.
It's an 11 metre passenger bus. It came from Sydney (still has Aussie advertising posters and shit in it) and then was a school bus in Dunedin for a time. I bought it minus engine and trans to convert into a sleepout / guest bedroom. It still had all the seats in and a few extra seats out of another bus. Anyone want some bus seats?

Whatever are you trying to say about Harley owners?

Def get a Haynes manual. I got one for my first Mini in the early '80s and I've since found it helpful on two other Minis, 3 1300s, and an Allegro. Many things are the same or close enough to it on all of them.

There were 1.3 Mk3 Cortys made. Next door neighbour when I was a yound fulla bought one new. Last I heard he still had it although that was some years ago. I have an idea that there may have been 1.1s on offer in the UK but why anyone in their right mind would buy one escapes me so I suspect few were made.
Uncle had an Aussie assembled Mk4 Ghia with the 4.1 crossflow when they first came out too. A lot of the front end was pretty much straight Falcon. Got a b&w pic of it somewhere.

Iron head 4.1 Falcon crossflow like some of the Aussie assembled Cortys got..

Of course you know that old cars have a manual choke. Easy thing to miss if you've never had an old car before.
