Helmets weren't really a thing in my childhood.

I wear a helmet if I'm cycling on the road but not for playing with the children in the yard or cycling from a camp ground kitchen back to my hut when I'm pissed.

People on the streets are sayin' that this new kind of engine is going to overtake the steam engine. What a load of codswallop. This empire was built on steam, it's lasted a hundred years and will last hundreds more. We've improved them over the years and they'll keep getting better. We've got steam engines for our boats, trains, traction engines and pumping houses. People are buying petrol in tins, it'll take ages to fill your car up! And how are they going to get petrol to every town and village across Britain? I've seen some of these new petrol cars, they can only go 20 miles and I can run faster! No, I'm sorry, steam is king and it's here to stay. I'm confident that this will all blow over.

I've heard about electric vehicles are the up and coming trend. What tripe. My diesel engine will keep on ticking for another 300 thousand miles, I've no need for a car that can only go 100 miles! And how are we going to get electricity to people's homes? This will definitely blow over, mark my words.

As for self driving cars. The technology is already here but relies on white lines painted on each side of the lane. Not so great for kiwi roads.

Electric cars are all very well in theory but I don't think we're quite there yet technology or cost wise. I don't believe that current electric cars are any better for the environment than petroleum cars when whole of life is considered and may in fact be far worse. Also if a large number of drivers went to plug in electrics how many more power stations would we need to build to charge them? I don't believe the current power grid could take the extra load.

Not really. The distributor on the Ford OHC six is so far up under the inlet manifold as to be unreachable by normal humans. Can't really call a Falcon luxurious or small.

Perhaps there is another common species that is a good substitute.
