  1. Spoke to my engine builder years ago and he said was a waste of time and ahoax as far as he was concerned?

Ive always just ran BP ultimate 98 in all my cars with no addatives. And touch wood ive been fine for last 20yrs.

  2. Yeah hollow thread with a wire attatched inside.

Don't ask how good or bad it is cos i only drove it once and popped a rear wheel cylinder......

Then noticed a few other issues....

Hmmmm need to replace those engine mounts.......

F#ck it only few more bolts..... out ya come ya lil b#stard!!!

So now a Big Block sits awaiting to grace the chassis rails soon and scare all the neighborhood kiddies.... haha.

Hmmm while im at it that steering coupling........... lol

  3. You reminded me.

Found my Acuspark ignition conversion for mine yesterday.

    So fitting it now.

Note of reference. Unless yours is different.

Get some longer mounting screws. The points ones are too short for the exciter mount......

Everything but that size atm all the way upto 1.5" thread... lol.

May have to raid one of my rc cars.... lol

** if you got the ignition coil with it be careful. The stud ontop is just a hollow weak thread.

Young fella next door was assisting and it snapped off while being tightened with a 1/4" set.

Wasn't over tightened either as he ain't that strong. Being only 7 lol.

Best cars to learn on are old cars.

He cant do squat on his mums Kia lol.

  4. Got a bit inspired today.

Peeled off all the covers from the HB (after i dusted about 1" of dust fron the top lol)

Hooked up a battery and cranked it over for a bit to prime fuel pump (this also pumps some oil uo and around engine before firing. Start ya bastard doesn't allow oil pressure priming). Then covered the carby intake a bit (i pissed the choke off ages ago) and cranked again for about 4secs til she coughed.

Then half throttle flicked the key and away she purred.

Been almost a year since i fired it up last...

If i can get her out the driveway later i may go for a spin. ...

  5. I needed a car to learn to drive manual in.

As nobody i knew had one willing to give me the keys too.... hahaha.

So grabbed the trading post and found the cheapest car i could find..... $90

Yes $90 (ninety). GA Galant. Had a cracked head... (because it overheated all the time)

All it was, was a f@cked radiator cap and blocked radiator.

$20 fix of new cap and some radiator flush and time.

Turns out the old 1600 had died and was replaced with a sigma 2.6L WIN.

There was nothing in that car. I swear the seats were wire frame and vinyl cover lol.

That thing went hard as used to destroy my mates 2L escort with twin webers.

Made many a fool of flashier cars worth tons more cash.

I should have kept it was a hoot.

  6. I just missed out on a vx ss ........for $1200

Would definitely have been a hoot for a few weeks (2months rego almost) until it got stripped for bits lol.

Been looking for an ls and trans for a conversion. But want a dummy setup 1st and just motor and trans is more than that price.....

Could have sold the seats (trim) and wheels and got my $$$ back and still had the driveline etc.

F#ck i hate peak hour traffic when ya heading for a bargin lol

  7. Mate just scored a high km territory fx6 for just over $10k.

Motor is so so mechanically but a 2nd hand bottom end is cheap as.

Factory these things had 270kw. So even being a heavy car they still went well.

This one had an fg intake an exhaust and a slight tune.

Even for an average motor this thing flies. (We destroyed an r34 skyline with 3 of us in it) Yet debadged it looks like your average soccer mums car.

Alot more practical than a sedan.

  8. Not sure over there, but in Aust. The cops love finding cars with white walls....

They defect you for damaged unsafe tyres..

Apparently the small amount of rubber that is scrubbed/grinded off damages the sidewall strength of the tyre so instant free defect sticker.

if done right bugger all rubber is removed so the tyre should not be effected ?

If so then every chick that smacks a gutter and scuffs a tyre should have their car defected.....

    F#cking cops...

  9. Old neighbor had a "tidy" old Cortina.

I say tidy because it was one colour looked straight and interior was 'neat'.

He bought this new "you Beaut" petrol powered pressure washer....

It happened to have what was called a 'car washer jet'

So opened soap dispenser added his soap fired it up and began washing his beloved cortina.

When he finally realized it wasn't a good idea it was to late.

He now owned a " tina " the cor was some 40m away along with some chrome trim.

And all over the driveway and alot of mine was his beloved red paint.....

It was now patchy, primer, bog, paint and bare metal on about 1/3 of the car.

Most of the window rubber had gone too so it was a swimming pool inside....

4 weeks later a crusty laser was in place and the " tina " went off on the back of its new owners car trailer......

  10. Haha very cool.

Note 7 which also relates to note 1 i think?

Great reassurance of never finding a speeding ticket in the mail hahaha.

Nothing like cruising an old gutless 4cyl (or 3.5 lol)

It reminds you you're alive (and quite possibly not for long on certain roads hahaha)

Kinda hard to imagine that back in the day some of these cars were desribed as

    'Sporty'

    Or

    'Powerful'.....

I think they'd have a heart attack in todays cars.

  11. Good work mate.

I suggest going to your local auto parts store and getting some convoluted tubing (available in different sizes).

Its split down one side so you can put it on your wiring after the wiring is on place and then just tape the ends etc to neaten it up.

It will keep all your wiring neater and hopefully out of harms way in the future.

  12. Ive got a car in the shed under a few sheets and a car cover.

You wouldn't know it but it hasn't been washed in 15years.

When i use it i uncover back it out and use a battery blower (used to use one of those oiled "bop-mops") and maybe once in a blue moon i use a quick detailer spray on it if its a bit dirty after use.

But usually it just get a dust off with blower vac thing and allowed to sit in shed to cool then gets recovered til i use it again.

Its still shiney and clean after all these years (hasn't seen rain since ive owned it)

  13. Or.

    Check weather.

When it's a big storm and preferably no hail lol

Drive to auto shop. Buy some soap and wheel cleaner/degreaser. Spay or pour some soap (or something like soap? As long as its cheap. Lol) over car.

park it out where it can get wet in carpark.

Then after a bit. Drive home and find some deepish puddles and drive through a few times.... this helps clean the under carriage and clean the wheels. Haha.

Then drive home and leave out in the rain over night.

This was my mates actual car washing techniques.

  14. Yeah make sure the carb is rebuilt or in good working order. But i never had to touch the jets etc.

Just bolted it on and away it went. It had much nicer throttle response and feel than the cd stromberg.

And even when cruising at a constant speed and then flooring it the result was much more noticeable.

sure its no rocket ship. But it seemed i didn't have to floor it all the time to get going.
