If its a 6cyl id rather a trimatic.
Atleast youd have a bit more acceleration off the line
So it would be better drivability than a powerglide.
Check out the ratios and a powerglide is very similar to a trimatic - minus second gear....
So if you drive a manualized trimatic try taking off in second. .... slug hey?
But of you really want drivability. Get a conversion kit and fit a th700 from a vn/vp v6.
has a better 1st gear than a trimatic and has overdrive too. (Plus lockup converter)
So you could fit 3.9 -4.11 diff gears have great acceleration and still pull less rpm at 100 than a 3.36 diff and trimatic (or powerglide)

Don't waste your money on the expensive Autotechnia ones....
Ive had 4 of them at $150-$180 each.
They all fuck out through the stitching across the roof/edge. The water then seeps in and is absorbed by the clothe liner and sits on your car body and fucks everything.
I had a car i don't drive that often under one thinking all was sweet as its uv, snow/sleet, rain and moisture resistant etc.
Peeled it back (in two pieces) and my new paint job had fucked iitselfon the roof and rear pillar. And all the chrome on the car was rusty etc.
Looked like was there for a decade. Yet it was only about 2 months tops.
Never again. Now its either the shed a carport or nothing. - even the cars with nothing have faired better than the Autotechnia shit.
