  1. Not really. (Dont class the vk system as an option)

Holden red 6 in a torana.

    Currently runs triple cd strombergs.

Very large solid cam. Etc etc.

Either looking at swapping out the cd's for 3x 50mm throttle bodies on the manifold and fiting injector bosses.

Or even something like the holley terminator efi throttle body setup.

But ive never been a fan of the 4bl manifolds for holden 6.

  2. Hey guys. Been sitting on a car for a few years that i hardly drive due to the fact its a bit of a pain in the butt.

I can get it to run reliably and consistent. But its boring.

When it's tuned to go i have to be careful of it flooding on idle and leaning out if ambient temp changes while out cruising etc etc etc.

So kinda over the f#cking around with sticking hiflow needle and seats or leaning out from standard ones etc etc etc.

So been thinking injection may be a better solution?

Im happy with the ignition setup i have.

i just want to know whats the best aftermarket fuel only ecu would be to use.

    And obviously a simple one.

dont want to have to have a degree in computer engineering etc lol

  3. Yep rx will probably sell more than mazda 5 or mazda sport or what ever. ..

So they call it an RX (not giving a shit it doesn't have a rotor) and they sell a heap of cars to people that just want an RX. Rather than a mazda 5 etc...

Manufacturers have been doing this for years.

Its a sad part of mega companies making $$$.

  4. Well that nay be the only "rotor" it gets?? An electric motor (armature/rotor)

Emission laws are getting tougher and tougher nowadays.

In some European countries they wont allow 2 stroke engines.

And even the passenger car diesel is on its last legs due to emissions in favor of hybrid petrol and full electric.

  5. Had an ea wagon and a vp wagon. can honestly say the ea was definitely longer in the back as i got one of those plastic trestle tables it fitted in the back of both. But only just in the vp. Had room to spare in the old ea.

What about an old f100? Or ex ambulance? (Usually cheap cos ugly and most ppl dont like the fact someone may not have made it to the hospital in the back..?)

Or. Get a smallish pantek truck or old bus and run the risk of no heavy vehicle license and play it dumb if caught?

  6. If you have an area on ya car susceptible of stone chips etc like that.

See about getting some molds done of the area and make some plastic or fibreglass covers that clip in at wheel arch and tape on the body (can't recall the double sided tape i used was 3m i think) have them painted same colour as the car and done.

To remove apply heat from a hair dryer etc and tape comes away slowly (if ya get correct tape) i suggest trying on an old wreck or sh#tbox 1st.

But of stuffing around but saved my paint job years ago. Sold them with the car.

  7. Mate just saying what ive seen.

Th350's are popular mainly due to their size (smaller than a th400)

They're a good trans aslong as the pump is good.

Myself i prefer not to use them.

If i was to want to keep a 3speed. (Especially in something the size of a c10) id go peace of mind and swap out to a th400.

The trans he has may run perfectly well for another 20yrs??

Im just wary of them after what ive seen 1st hand.

  8. It makes a difference around town too.

1st gear has a better ratio than a th350 too.

So will get off the line better as well.

Ive never been a big fan of the th350. Seen too many over the years with major pump issues. Seen 4 that have totally seized the pump locking the convertor snout up. Big big mess and can be dangerous.

  9. If this is just gonna be a cruiser (not a bruiser/hotty etc)

Id suggest finding a good Th/700r trans and swapping out the th/350.

You should get reasonable $$$ for the 350.

The 700 trans is the 4speed found in many US cars and the vn-vp 5L v8's.

Your fuel economy should improve considerably and be much nicer to cruise the highways with.

What diff ratio is it now? 3.5, 3.7, 4.11 etc?

  10. Mate just bought a car. And stumbled across a disturbing find whilst cleaning and inspecting his new ride.

He slide out the 3rd row seat and opened it (it folds down and slides under the floor).

And jackpot. He found the previous owners ......."stash spot".

Obviously they didn't like throwing stuff in bins....

    He found

4 used nappies.. (gonna be sick)

2 used condoms (blah puke, that did it..)

A heap of maccas fries and even half a cheeseburger.

    And several used needles.

Lets just say hes not keen to go sticking his hands under any seats etc.

Car is soon to be up for sale so anyone wanting a car with possible treasure trove of hidden "goodies"..... lol

  11. I bought an old Kingswood from a dodgy as f@#k guy who upon pick up of the car (paid a deposit first time i saw it) decided he'd swap the wheels on it for some others with mismatched sizes and brands and 2 were f@#ked. (Fairly fresh black paint on rims)

His car in other driveway had amazingly same size and brand my new car originally had.

He denied it and thought he'd pulled a swift one on me.

I mainly wanted it for the gts dash and wheel (had some homemade horn button so he had no idea what it was) so i still scored a bargain.

Upon driving home i opened the glovebox to find horse race section in glovebox and an envelop with $500 in it. (And lots of horses circled for the weekends races -i checked the dates)

Lmao looks like he didn't get to put his bets on that weekend hahahahaha.

  12. A truck/suv isnt a car.

And any motor or trans from a 90's- onward vehicle isnt like your old 250 crossflow or 308 holden or yeah powerglide etc.

Servicing is huge priority for these.

And like I said there are heaps of updates to fix issues in transmissions and engines once theyre released/bought from manufacturer.

Kinda like the updates for ya computer or mobile that come out every week.

The 4L60e has many updates to fix problems and stop it sh#tting itself. Valve body and solenoid updates that cost no where near the cost of a rebuild.

And nowadays $2k for a rebuilt Auto trans is nothing. Its cheap.

You will pay more for a trans computer fron a late model 6speed let alone rhe rest. Not uncommon for bills $6-$12k nowadays

  13. Same trans (just electronic) as i fitted to my f350 big block v8. I fitted the th700.

If built and treated right no issue with them.

Like any newer style auto transmission, fit a proper trans cooler. Get the updates done (if towing) and drive it right and should have zero issues.

my f350 when loaded (and i also tow a 22ft caravan {with ensuite} behind it) would prob weight about 6-7 tonne.? That trans has probably done about 30,000kms in last 3 years and hasn't missed a beat.

So saying that trans is no good is pretty vague. A standard one may be average. When its been looked after by a knowledgeable Auto trans specialist then theyre a good transmission.
