yup. had a toyota people mover cut me off one morning on the way to work, winter morning, not the best conditions and he just pulls across into my lane. no indication, no mirror check. just cut me off and caused me to brake hard. " ace ### " on the rego. i see it around town now and again and i'm waiting til i'm in my truck to see the prick and i'll make it tight for him.

fuck we all did that years ago at the drag strips. you have to have a catch can and old fords have the spew hose down the side of the rad onto the floor, same with the "vent to atmosphere" oil breathers. so we cable tied old drinks cans to them using the ringpull. gets you through inspection anyway.
and the famous red bull can wrapped around your coil. i think every single showcar of the early 2000's had one of those.

Not been updating this much but its all pretty standard stuff. cleaning parts, polishing parts, replacing parts, sourcing better replacements etc. Got the dash retrimmed a while back and fitted it today. not 100% happy with it. it has a heat shrink mark in the d/s corner and glue overspray on the other side. not a massive issue but fuck you pay retail for something you want a nice job done. i could've done it myself better but lesson learned. it looks better than before though. got a carpet kit ordered this week so i'll be stoked to get that in and get the floor covered. it'll give a huge moral boost i reckon.
me and the missus want to do the Kaikoura hop on 20th sept. 7 weeks from now minus a week for a holiday we've got. eep. Give me some love and a kick up the arse to " Git 'er dun" please. Joe.

Butlers on wordsworth st and stanmore rd are very good with older parts. i've bought bushes off the shelf for my mk2. they're not just computer jockeys. they actually get the book out and look at part numbers to see what else uses the same .

yeah if anyone needs convincing, google them and look up threads on passionford.com and oldschoolford.co.uk . they've been heavily discussed on both. (and more).
-
I'd probably buy a set. not immediately, but within 12 months for my mk2 'tina. Had a set in the UK on my escort and they're wicked. cheap as coilovers go too!

I charge the battery to give it a head start (no pun intended), and crc the locks to get moisture out and stop them freezing. , I check the oil and coolant regularly anyway.

get aa covered and then just call them up and say the engine fell out. free recovery home.
or could you get someone to deliver to the ferry push it on and you recovewr it the other end?

answered a few of my own questions already. too eager!

Has anyone on here done this conversion?
I'm half thinking of putting a CA18 into my mk2 as i've seen it done before, and i had an s13 which i loved far too much and it left a turbo shaped hole in my heart when i had to sell it. So i want to combine the two. Also, SR20 is also an option, but ca is cheaper!
Does anyone know how much fab work is involved? Can you keep the steering box? will rack and pinion work and out of what donor vehicle? How much work is needed on the gearbox tunnel? do the manifolds fit or are custom ones needed?
the rest i can probably work out along the way but kinda want to do some research before there's a hole in my engine bay and a Ca18 in the garage lol.
Joe.

Cheers. I think i;m going to go with some 15" minilite/superlite style rims. probably with anthricate spokes and a polished lip. i've seen a set of 15's on a mk2 and i like the fit. S mags are also an option still, depends on budget, but i don't know how easy it is to find 14" tyres with a decent sidewall profile. i don't want baloon tyres.

Cortina is coming off the road for a new engine once the triumph is warranted again. rings are gone and the carb leaks. not ideal but the missus needs a daily.
yeah it'll be getting a pinstripe. also got a visor to go on but it's not ready yet. it came out so much nicer than expected. he did a really nice job for not alot of cash. gave him free reign on the stripe, just a few pictures to go off and this is what he did. Once the bumpers are on and the lights and stuff all fitted it'll look totally different again i reckon, relaly looking forward to seeing it with a face. chuffed to pieces with it. needs to harden up for a few weeks whilst we're rebuilding it and he's gonna have it back for buffing. you'll not loose it in a carpark anyway haha

Fuck. Watch your retinas. She's bright alright haha. No missing it anyway. Love the colours, the sills were left blue at the request of my girlfriend who'll be driving it mostly, and the stripe is thicker than it should've / could've been. That was down to the painter. he tried a few and reckoned cos it's a wide flat car the thin one looked stupid. Love it. looks just comical having a triumph saloon in full racecar colours lol. anyways now the fun part begins.....
Trusty old Hilux. Never even broke a sweat. Can't f**king wait to get some trim back on it.

Ah, no thanks. But cheers for the offer. I mostly want a rev counter and obviously that pod would make easy space for one but i can deal with an aftermarket one half hidden under the dash tbh. it's a super anyway. wouldn't want to upset the purists! haha.
-
bloody hell. thought they were worth about 500 bucks with gauges! lol. nobody wants them in the UK, they all want the series 2 dash! haha, Crazy.
-
Cheers for that. didn't realise they were going for that much. and it'd need recovering too. might start saving harder lol. i'm gutted all the stuff i had in the UK and i didn't relaise it was worth fortunes over here. fuck me the stuff i had i sold for pennies and skipped the rest. different world here.
-
Cool i'm looking for one for when i give my super a tidy up over winter. They are getting quite hard to find though and whilst one was asking for cortina bits i thought i'd jump in too. sorry for the Hi-jack! this is what i'm after, the gauge pod on the top of the dash. From series 1 mk2 GT's and E's. the series 2 mk2 had them integrated into the dash.
-
I have a mk1 gt guage bezel in the shed. I will see if I can find it
do you have a mk2 series 1 dash top you'd part with? gauges / no gauges. not important.

there was a story going round the internet about these cars a few years ago. one story was that dubai has strict bankrupcy laws and lenghty spells in prison so the once well-to-do owners do overnight runners when it all goes tits up and the cars are just forgotten about. so to sepak.

with regards to the rego. My cortina which is a 1500 super is down as "ford cortina 1967" on the rego. you might be able to have the year there instead of 1.3.
-
just be careful on the pugs. the centre bore can be bigger and after some quick googling the offset is about -15 to -25 depending on model. ford usually around -40.
