fuck me they actually make a honda sound kinds beefy.
-
Tis for a cortina actually, but same engine hence the vid, to get an idea of the noise and tone.
that M&H one looks cheap enogh to be worth a try at least. fuck me thats cheap. i reckon that, with a piece of mild steel out the back with some heatwrap would be the understated look i'd be after.
i'll do some research see if i can find out what they sound like on a small engine. papa dont want no honda!

supercoby is a classic. i'm leaning toward this anyway but wanted other opinions first. The supertrapp thing i've not had any experience with, but whats with the disk thing? they also look super weird in my opinion.
and yeah nice on the Borla too. i've not heard of these before, are these widely available? i've watched a few videos on youtube with these on different cars and they sound louder than stock, but not full out bogan spec.

i did lots of panel work on my triumph about a year ago, i cut the rust out, stripped it all back to bare metal including door and boot shuts (because i was changing the colour) welded in new pieces of metal where needed and then did a few skims of bog myself.
i got a friend of a friend to finish the bog work and paint it, hes a panel beater by trade and he had it for 4 weeks, working on it evenings and weekends, and it cost me roughly 1800 bucks ( give or take) . that was labour and paint from him and it was painted in his home garage with a 50 litre compressor and puddles of water on the floor to attract the dust. hardly state of the art! . i am well happy with the finish for the money but you always, always get what you pay for.

looks like the jag XF

Anyone got a bit of knowledge on whats available in the aftermarket? i've got a 2.5" mild steel system with 4-1 extractors/ flows and it will be a single muffler / backbox system.
i need it legal enough to pass a wof, but want it nice and raspy at high rpms, becoz racecar.
its for an old ford so im not really looking for 4" straight cut jap can, however, i'm open to suggestion / persuasion on anything really.
sound is key.

wow i honestly didn't realise this was such a big thing. I'm shocked reading all this information. Considering drink driving is a slap on the wrist here i can't believe that doing a burnout outside your mates house can get your license revoked instantly. thats just nuts.

good call! They do look nice in red. 4 spd overdrive too. i'm dribbling a bit . ( to be fair though thats kinda normal )

Sweet car cuz. needs a few of thems horn speakers on a roof rack and a crate of waikato in the boot tho. Fuck me that nardi looks sweet in there. i think i must purchase one now. god damn, and blast, but cheers! Nice looking car though, whats the story with the white plates do yo know? not that its important but im a nosey git.
red ones are for poofters though, whens it going to go blue with an orange stripe then? everyone knows thems the best ones.

does shaving a broom handle down to make a clutch alignment tool count? i can get pitchers an everythin to prove it!
got a beefy 60mm ish hand-cut-with-oxy hub nut tool for the trucks at work. tis as awesome as it is crude, but it does work! it was needed for a stubborn isuzu once and stored out of view ever since.

mine was an extremely rare UK from new car. Extremely rare that there as anything left of it.

had my S13 come in to the yard (before i owned it) on the back of the truck. 18" lensos on the front, 15" standard mags on the back. found the other 2 lensos with fucked tyres in the boot. score!

man i want an anglia.

I went into the old place asking for some minilites for my triumph and i was pretty much laughed at and told "you wont get those new anymore mate". so i went to mag and tyre on ferry rd and he had 3 sets in stock, in my size and offset.
juss saying!!

i pulled a sideloader like that when we first got a 14 tonner at work. 1964 twin axle, same gooseneck like that. Damn horrible thing to pull. just didn't go around corners at all. and you couldn't sdee the back with a load on so it was a c**t to reverse up too.
Tis a bit different now i see it agin, i was glad to see the back of that trailer!

I finally got this back after my own laziness and tbh money stuffs. (visas are expensive) But i painted my ute, triumph is chugging along nicely as a daily for the missus so i free'd up enough plastic to get these parts home Surely would've been easier to stick a 4age or CA18 or, even an RB but feck it. i love the sound of these little motors on carbies and its got a bench seat and a column 4 speed manual for epic cruising times so no fucks given fun times ahead, after another few parts are sourced.
Note the size difference in the rocker gear.
The Valves are 2mm bigger than stock as far as i can make out ( they're a bit difficult to measure with the verniers once installed.)
inlet 38.4
exh. 32.5
Cam specs Power Band: 3000-7000rpm
Valve Lift: 0.349"
Duration: 286°
Timing Figures: 35/71/71/35
Inlet Timing: 108° ATDC
Inlet lift at TDC: 0.077"
Valve Clearances: .020" inlet/.022" exhaust+60 oversize pistons. 82mm.
rods are original but have been checked, balanced and 'weighted' together. dunno the proper term. this is the only thing limiting the redline really, the cam will run out of steam at about 7000 but if i wanted to stick a wilder cam in it in the future, with proper rods and the rest of the work its set for the racetrack.
The difference between the old main caps Vs the new. held in with arp studs and nuts.
Electronic dizzy with expensive coil (because chrome) mapped with the right curve for my cam.
and a boring cover plate, but its been balanced right through with the flywheel and crank.
And i got these bad boys today. Chur to Shaneo for putting me onto them. These are exaclty what i wa after Quattros 13x7. 4x108PCD. Not an easy wheel to find it turns out. but man i'm chufed to bits with 'em. all i need is nuts to bolt them on too they're ready to go. bonus. She's gone from whitewall grandads car to bogan staple in 15 seconds
im still shopping but that is the bulk done. thank fuck. the missus would actualy kill me is i had anymore bills to pay like these! haha (nervously laughs whilst sweating)

I\l update this a bit more regularly now. i'm hoping to get the car home this weekend if i can get the trailer and work on it at home instead of having it in the workshop.

nice car dude. so clean. beat colour too.
whats the oil from do you know yet? i've had a letter from my landlord regarding the oil stains on the driveway. i'm not sure which leak to fix first, the diff or the gearbox lol.
-
i love this car. saw it a few times at the shows but never saw it run. i saw it on the local news years ago when he used to drop his kids off to school in it.
edit, just watching the video, it was red victor 2 i remember actually, i distinctly remember the chequered flag motif.

looks very similar to subaru momo. could you be so lucky? the subaru one i know has more depth but without that boss...
if not is it leather? gliptone is the best stuff you can get imo. it wont restore the colour but the leather restorer will, in a few weeks and a few coats sort it. if its leatherette stuff, just bite the bullet and go for a retrim. in leather.

lol. well known as shitheaps then.

Wow i'm far too slack with these updates. Progress is slower than i'd like but finding the odd part here and there for a 49 year old pommy motor is difficult sometimes!
Anyway. I got the car back from the yard. The weather has not been kind to her
Deja vu?
I was gonna paint the engine bay but then decided against it. i just want it back on the road for summer. i want to paint the whole thing in a couple of years anyway, and i might got for a colour change anyway, so i degreased it and striped out most stuff, i think i'm going to hide the loom, or some of it at least.
And just been painting, cleaning, assembling, realising i need another seal/gasket/bolt and going off to locate that and then its 3 days later.
The fella in the overalls is Stan my housemate. he's a diesel mechanic and i think he was bored today, so i fucked around cleaning and polishing parts and he assembled some more of the engine.
