  1. Wow I'm tired after writing that title... I'll let the pictures do the talking:

And that' half a days work. Progress was slowed by starting with cheap shit that I had to fix...nastyness at its best...

Pressing seized on crap off the shafts. ..only to reviel some monkey drill about 11 holes in the shafts to try "key" the components on...what a fucktard! Anyway...left with no alternative other than scraping it...I resorted to welding in the holes and linishing it back...actually worked quite well.

That's it for now...but taking shape nicely.

  2. Okay...going to all efforts to save spending actual, real, genuine...cash.

Got these for free...but they are front hubs designed to spin on a bearing. I need rear hubs that can be made to bolt up to an axle. So I've machined them to work.

    Before:

    After:

Was it worth the effort to save about $220??? Fuck yes!!! Was it fun, safe and trouble free...ummm...ahhh...hmmm. ..hell no.

  3. That motor in a gokart would be the berries! That way you could make use of its rediculous torque.

Have you seen my "somali battle wagon"?

This thing is so much fun and I'm constantly amazed by where there can go. It only had a DT200 motor in mine geared real low...your motor would send it into orbit!!!!

your frames you make for your trikes, tickle my ideas gland for making a 4 wheeled version... like you say, with better geometry for drifting than a race kart

Go on...be great to see what you come up with?

You'll need about this much articulation to really have fun. You can get by with less...but controllability will suffer.

have you ever made a drift kart? ie 4 wheels?

it seems that there are a lot of drift trikes, but I havnt seen anyone do a 4 wheeled version

No, haven't done that. Essentially it would just be a normal gokart with sleeves on the rear tyres.

Getting enough articulation in the front wheels would be a bit of a challenge, not impossible. For example a normal car versus purpose built drift car, they differ greatly...

  6. Had a bit of a low after saying goodbye to the naomi trike. So time to get back on the horse (trike?)...so to say.

Then that other axle and trike looked a bit lonely...so I united them in an unholy union too:

The wheel are just temporary on the red seat trike.

Have you got the sleeves on it? Or its just loose in the wet. My boy is super keen on one so am i.

Sleeves. If anything it' gripping more in the wet.

It' got a snappy motor on it..I'm been a pussy as I don't want to wreck it before giving it to Naomi tomorrow.

I took the clutch apart, then cut about 3 coils off the spring loop inside...then reassembled. It' raised the engagement rpm higher. This helps a lot for throttle response and aids in getting a better idle without rubbing the clutch all the time.

From that ride...I can tell it' going to be fun:)

  8. Version V1.0 chain roller shredded itself. Actually it was still functional...but well flogged out.

It was quite a hard rubber...but not hard enough.

The initial idea was sound, so i reused this solution, but changed materials...with a much harder composition.

Ebay to the rescue again. $2.90 delivered to my door rural delivery included.  Versus paying $10, plus another $10 delivery on trademe ($20 total).

It's holding up really well after riding it around all morning. Success!

  9. Couple more pics...

I flared the seat out around the top edge. It's a bit rough...but rough enough.

I've ordered a few ebay decals to dress it up a little more. And a fake personalised plate from trademe. But really...hook up the cables, plumb the fuel lines, install a return inlet to the fuel tank...and call it a day. Oh maybe do a few skids too!

  10. Yes...yes it does:)

I actually went to an army surplus store and brought a canteen, ammo box and a little folding shovel "to accessorize" it...but in the end I didn't end up using them. I couldn't help thinking it was getting a bit like OCC (Orange County Choppers) where they weld all sorts of shit to an awfully proportioned chopper.

    Mil-spec.

I think I sniped you on an auction today. Lobbed a snipe bid on some broken down POS on trademe, and noticed a similar handle to yours as the only other bidder. That you? Red trike broken rear wheel (and unattached pedal it turns out when I went to pick it up tonight)...

Haha...nice one. All's fair on trademe.

Glad it got snapped up by someone who will put it to good use.

Be interesting to see what you come up with?

  12. Found a port to take "pulse" from to power the diaphragm pump. To test I put a small balloon over the port...turned over motor and watched what happened?

    Success!!!

Line hooked up. This may get swapped out as I have concerns over it sucking itself tight...and that doesn't sound much fun to anyone:)

  13. Then the motor on the other one got some attention. I try new things each time, not because it's a better idea...more, because I can. I guess it's a learning opportunity and it stops these projects all becoming the same.

I am going to mount the fuel tank lower than the carburetor. This is a problem for a gravity feed carb...solution - install a fuel (pulse) pump in line. I made this sexy bracket after a bit of thought and things seam to be falling into order.
