  1. I think it's way to small sorry. Looks like about 37 teeth. Your clutch will have 10 teeth...so that 3.7:1 ratio.

This drift trike was the fastest one by far. It was because it had smaller wheels. Used the same ratio as all of them at 70 teeth rear and 11 teeth front...so ratio of 6.36:1 which is nearly double what you have.

At 3.7:1 I think you'll just burn out the clutch as it will struggle to move with such a low gear ratio.

exactly . same as what happened with hot rods, and like you say, muscle cars

will be interesting to see what the future version will be- 90s nissans?

Dear God...I just pray the next generation doesn't decide that Mazda MPV people movers are cool and would only benefit from fitting a 13B?

Though they'd last forever as young kids don't go out and thrash the fuck out of their cars doing burnouts like we used to. My neighbors kids just sit in their driveway revving their engine until it hits the limiter or valve floats. I laugh at them and tell them to go do a fucking skid or something on the road...they look at me and just don't get it. I guess I'm showing my age?

  3. I kind of get the high prices for the real deal i.e. a Mazda RX2,3,4 or 7....

I must say I'm struggling to see how a boring little car my grandma once drove can now be worth 15-20k if someone slaps a tired old 12a in it? The original boring little car was never cool, never desirable in any way...but just because it's old now seams to have value? if it is and always was a shit car that's never been cool...why now? At least genuine rotary engine vehicles were always cool (ish)...

  4. If only we had a crystal ball eh. I had a car almost exactly the same as thus one...not actually this car, I stole this picture off Google...but seriously...so fuckn close its not funny.

    images-6.jpg.7d76e6bced149f958b95baf294639789.jpg

I had it when I was 16 years old. Worked my arse off and saved the $5000 it cost to buy it. Someone stole it and stripped it out, but luckily insurance paid out. I brought it back off the insurance company and restored it. Then I sold it for $3500 as rotas were only going down in value.

It was mint! 100% rust free and so tidy. Be a $20,000 car these says. ..fuck it!!!

  5. Had a very quick sight in at home before heading off for the day. Took 6 shots to zero...and then got repeatable results like this shooting offhand  (standing up unsupported) at a range of 18m.

    2305.thumb.jpeg.8ab0f455596f697f35eba850768ebb06.jpeg

Almost boring to shoot now with the red dot. Just keeps putting 2 arrows (bolts) side by side. Both bolts shoot to a slightly different point of impact...so I'll buy a few more and batch sort them into tighter groups.

For the money (hehe...it was a gift so didn't cost me anything) it's hard to beat. Pretty cool when something exceeds expectations eh.

  6. Brother gave me a crossbow for a birthday present...thanks bro!

    2301.thumb.jpeg.abe72511fa7bd0a53107ea14b7a901a6.jpeg

It's surprisingly accurate, easily get arrows (technically called "bolts") touching in a target set about 10m away. And smashing a pizza box at 60m.

However I noticed the front sight was bending. On closer inspection I realised that the string actually comes forward and strikes the front sight post! Not great for string longevity or accuracy.

    Solution time:

That should do it for now. I may loose the front sight altogether and replace it with a red dot sight mounted on the rear above the trigger mechanism. I'm just not that convinced that the shit metal front sight will be able to withstand any knocks it may get when out hunting...but for now it will do.

Im now fired up to take a day off work and try hunt something with it to see how it goes. Should do the business...

  7. Looks like #420 pitch.

The 3/4" clutches come with 10 teeth in 420 pitch. So that small rear gear will be too small I think? It will bog down low...and do about 70kph when wound right out if it doesn't hit the wall.

A much bigger rear would work better. Soon as you haven't committed to it. I'd look at changing to another pitch like #35 or 219. You can get more teeth on the rear for those pitches a lot more easily than in 420.

Ebay has centrifugal clutches for about $35. Way cheaper than trademe etc...

You can still use the carrier. ..just adapt it to fit another rear sprocket

  8. I used the same motor in Naomi's drift trike. Torque to burn!!!! But it seams to be a bit of a light switch...either off or on, with no in between. Maybe the carb on mine was fucked? But it was a handful. Pulsing the throttle gave good control in a drift...that turned out to be the secret with that one.

    870.thumb.jpeg.833770948d62859b2a206b4ad70b9485.jpeg

You can see I also used a pulse pump so I could relocate a fuel tank to a lower point. This works great. Cheap as on ebay.

  9. When you make a few things over the years...no doubt you'll end up with a few boxes of shit you don't need, but is too good to throw out.

I was rummaging through these said boxes and found a few interesting bits that started taking shape on my workbench today.

    2241.thumb.jpeg.f5ba5446f89550d0a22425430f5ab7a5.jpeg

This motor came with a pocket bike. I got the original motor going so never used this spare one. I had a pumper carburetor lying around from when I made the goped Bigfoot with the highly ported 49cc motor last year...so on it goes.

    2238.thumb.jpeg.e69b98a0b7a4aad3a6722fac76ed9f11.jpeg

This goped was purchased for parts last year. It's a geo-ped which was a stupid idea (eco friendly) goped made to comply with Californian air emissions regulations...dumb! I figure the tiny amount of time I'll spend on it, putting a much bigger motor won't make an ounce of difference to the environment...but it will be way more fun and twice the power!

    2246.thumb.jpeg.3dda57e4bae0b6b840a4d6d6d752edd7.jpeg

Obviously the motor won't just bolt on been twice the size. Geo-ped were about 23cc from memory...this will be 49cc. I cut a bit of the deck out to clear the carburetor  (will tidy up later). Looks like I can make it fit.

    2248.thumb.jpeg.97584bba9a261e2b50cf1eeb819c380c.jpeg

And mocked up for inspiration. Looks like it's worth pursuing this idea further:)

So I'll give it some absorption time to think over some ideas...then make this shit happen!

  10. Holy bejeus yesterday/last night was a huge effort. My friend Mike came around and we worked to about 10.00pm to finish up all the loose ends and get the trikes race ready for the coming weekend.

Result: JUMBO trike is now completed and rearing to go.

    2024.thumb.jpeg.bafbb7625bad03362662e9ca40484396.jpeg

This motor gave it's share of problems...but that's what you've got to expect when you buy a cheap swap meet motor with no knowledge of its  history. But it's roaring with un-governed life now...so bring it on!
