RX3 PP

I apologise for some pics being on the piss. Final drive to fit the drivers window back in and fit the new trims and rubbers. It was a cold night last night just out of chch, but I knew I had a little of work left to do. So I fitted the drivers window back in along with the new trims and now is weather proof and quieter sitting in it with the engine running. Now is time to get the front guards repaired as they were rubbing on the tyres and now that the complete suspension has been raised about 15mm the problem Is gone. Almost at the point where I can just enjoy it and drive it, although I don't think there comes a time when anyone is 100% happy with their car and there's always something that could be improved. Now all is needed is to get some miles on the engine as its only done about 900km since a complete buildup, to whom I thank a good mate Brian McCahon from Rotary Research with his assistance in helping me build the engine and supplying me with a lot of the parts needed to make this car what it is today.

It has a metal strip in it and fits perfectly, boot real easy to close, john mentioned my lot I got may be the last as think he's been in hospital a lot lately.

I have been for a long time trying to sort out new rubber for the 3. After hearing so many bad stories about Phils rotaries and rare spares rubber kits for the rx3 coupe, I found a chap in Aus whom had some genuine factory brand new ones reproduced, so I got hold of John. a real likeable fella who is a real enthusiast. He supplied me with every single rubber part available for my car at under half the price of the kits that the above mentioned sell. These seals and trims fit amazingly well, like a hand in a glove. And at a fantastic price. I've attached some pics below. how nice is it not only to have a good paint but also to have the new rubbers to go with it.

After a bit of a break, decided it was time to get some badges on it, adding a Mazda, GT and Rotary Engine badge, also a steering wheel centre and although not savanna can do until I can find the surround somewhere in mates garage. I've had leaking rear brakes so sourced brand new wheel cylinders for $20 each and re lined the shoes, front discs were replaced with new ones, have also raised the suspension 1/2". Brand new complete rubber kit Is on the way from Aus as rare spares and Phils rotary ones are complete dog shit. Still got a lower door chrome trim to go on and some minor things. I guess it's never ending to a point.

Shark fins will be in the pipeline of things to do as well as the chrome sill piece that gos under the door to meet the fins

Finally we searched a mates shed and found the radio knobs that went with the factory savanna radio. They still look like new and finish off that particular section of the car, have acquired GT badges and a Mazda boot badge which will go on soon.

If you need any badges I have a contact that has some rx2 stuff.

Great build m8, keep it up be worth it all down the track. I use escort metal polishers also not so much now now as I try and avoid building engines but they are prob the best in chch.

Got hold of a genuine rx3 viscous fan, offset shroud and got sorted tonight.

A friend came over today and we got the dash sorted out, lights were put in a few days back.

So now with the new engine in and running, I've clocked up about 200kms on my target of around 2000 as end plates have been re ground and needs that run in period. I've managed to get hold of an original mint rx3 viscous fan shroud, and will pick up the genuine fan in the week or two, going to electric fan is just simply not an option when trying to keep it as original as I can. Have some original rx3 coils also to go in as well as factory rx3 air cleaner housing. Interior needs a little bit of time as have gearbox console, handbrake console and radio and steering surround left to put in.
