  1. Hi Clint, I've acquired a new project, its a 36 stewart pick up colonial cab. old guy died and the son gave it to me for free. My question is; How\can I put it back on the rd without too much hassle? It has old black plates on it (ER7165) , nz rego stickers from the early 80's and two original body\build tags on it. My father in law has 3 of them, reckons they came with all sorts of different engines, whatever was available at the time etc. He says I should restore it , put a flathead v8 in it with a toyota box, and that it won't need a cert, is he correct? we think it is set up for a flathead v8. only part that would differ is the gearbox crossmember. (I'm a ticketed welder) heres a link to some photos if it helps, //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/53537-maxpower-1936-stewart-beater-pick-up/ P.s not wanting an expensive flashy hot rod just a cool old pickup Thanks in advance
  2. true? had a look at the stickers and there doesn't seem to be any plate number on the rego sticker, does mean that it has been on nz roads at some point hope its not going to be a major.
  3. yeah we love it, so much work though, will make a sweet camper. has a tawa? t&g floor in the back, reckon it would be sweet decked out in native timber in the back and a late model diesel up the front.
  4. really don't like the front screen, theres room to put a bigger one in, on the back of the tray are two old brass framed front screens out of something early i found in the shed where i picked this thing up. I'm thinking i can use two of them to make one good one as they are quite narrow, but have a nice shape. look like model Y ford screens.

  7. heres me and my wifes old ambo we picked up from burt watchorns museum in whakatane a few years ago, finally brought it home and put it in the shed, this thred is more of a photo storage as I'm sure nothing will happen to it for a few years. am after a cab as the floor is rusty in this one and would be nice to find a good floorpan its a A110 model. paid $1000 for it.
  8. could look like this but probably not as flash. and a lot more low
  9. I'm hoping I can put it back on the rd without too much hassle with the plates, rego and id plates, anyone know what issues i would have? I mean if i blast and prime it all , fix any rust taking heaps of photos along the way shouldn't be to much of a headache? i don't want to have to fit seat belts and all that modern stuff
  10. lush interior has horse drawn cart pics on the seats
  11. more shitty pics. is really solid apart from the doors will need work by a woodworker\boat builder etc
  12. side view with crappy phone
  13. my father in law has 3 nice stewart pick-ups, guess he didn't want 4. he also has a few spares i may have to raid. these things are pretty hard to come by he reckons and thinks there are probably only 20 in nz. plans are to sand bast everything and get it on the rd as a beater, with a flathead v8 and toyota 5 speed box, its way too high though.. and it won't happen overnight.
  14. its a colonial cab, no motor. quite complete. old guy died and son didn't want it. shed was full of choice shit thats getting thrown out. has ugly 'aftermarket' front and rear screens, found two old brass front window frames in the shed so il make a new front one
  15. has plates tags and rego stickers.
  16. can put what ever motor you want in it for the period as they came with all sorts, this one is a lowly colonial cab, will prob put a flathead v8 in it for re-vinning has no motor or box.
  17. Hi , picked this up today for free was going to get crushed. discuss //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/53538-maxpower-1936-stewart-beater-pick-up-discussion/
  18. could you sway the test also by removing the tray for cert , thereby lightning the overall weight of the vehicle?
