  1. Holy mother of god, I'm just working on a film set about the sinking of the Rainbow warrior, and I did a double take as soon as I saw your van.

Its almost identical to the Newmans van the Bombers used, even the reg is similar!!!!

    Spooky!!!!!

any way if you ever decide to move it on I'd love to own it.

They are cool little campers rock stock standard. and pretty retro and rare now.

    nice project.

  2. I don't know I've seen a Lot of disparity between compliance inspectors, one tried to tell me the factory seam on my Torino was bog where the roof had been replaced, my car, I told him it wasn't, I told him it had been there since 1976, when ford selected Vinyl roof cars based on the quality of the join, but no way was he having it.

I cant understand why he thinks its 20k to replace a chassis complete, and he said that wouldn't work for him? what the hell? so we cant replace the chassis ourselves even if we get him to inspect it before we put it in? This also would solve the crossmember issue.

I honestly either believe either :-

    A) he doesn't know his job

    B) he has no interest in writing an engineering report.

    C) My flatmate pissed him off

    D) He wants all the work done in garages.

I just want to compare notes really, I don't need to sway his opinion because he didn't write anything up, and nothing has been entered in the system. I will post up the photo's, and you can see what you think, there are obviously problems, but not that bad (I think a chassis replacement is the way to go tho!)

  3. Yeah I had a good look at the Gal, and where I might not have bought it, I certainly don't think its that hard.

There is a bit of rust in the chassis under the drivers floor, its not terminal tho, but the engineer, wants to remove the rear quarter, and both rear sills and is not happy with the front crossmember as its been welded in the past.

I suggested buying a full secondhand chassis and dropping the car on, but the reakons that that's a 20k job, errrrrrrr I don't think so.

  4. Hi Guys

My poor flatmate is freaking out after an Engineer basicly condemmed his 67 Galaxie fastback on compliance, is anyone keen on checking it out, and giving an estimate to fix it? the report was a quick visual followed by a mo way its too hard to fix, nothing written down or submitted to Land transport.

I suspect this is a man used to dealing with new cars, and not someone who has any idea, anyone want to give a second opinion?

    Thanks

  5. Aww crap, I've done it again, I started supplying cars to a little TV series when I came back from the USA.

"Can you supply two cars they said?"

    "Yes no Problem"

The Next week they asked me to supply 4 cars, then 8 cars, and so on, basicly I've been working 90hr weeks and trying to find a way to actually make this work for a living, its tough, but I'm getting there.

So Behold, my first real movie car.
