Lol,
No I was going to buy it blind and drive it back to Auckland, I'm quite glad I didn't. I figured there had been so much work done, it had probably been done to a fairly good standard, and it seemed a bit cheap!
I'm guessing your prop is too long, the 5 speed box is a bit longer than the old 4 speed!

If you're looking for a project yank tank I.e. 50s chebby, is it still cheaper/better to buy here?
No way American car prices are insane here!!! Get on Craigslist and check it out, stick to the dry states, or California for easy shipping.
Paid $650 for my 2 owner 76 Gran Torino and $2500 for my 54,000 mile 73 Mustang fastback!!!! mind you they were both good deals!

Nice to see it coming along, and good to find its not made of bog

I bought in my 76 Torino last year, no worries with FPS in Auckland, cost me $3800 delivered LA to Aucks taxes paid, anyone done it cheaper?
I'm importing my 73 Mustang in the next two months as well, its not too hard.
Be really careful though, American cars are sometimes not what they seem, they love bog and pop rivets, there's no wof in most states and there can be a whole lot of woe under shiny paint.
The other thing is be really careful with weight, if its a ute and it weighs over 3.5t its considered a HGV, so hubometer, ruc and worst of all manditory RHD conversion!!!
What are you thinking about buying?

Awesome Van,
I really thought about buying it myself, looked like a really good deal. 2.0 pinto too if I remember correctly.
-
Man that's a cool car I've got a Vx490 and a Victor Wagon too, but both are the later FE model.
Nice to see a FD Wagon on the road they are super rare now, it looks like a Ventora to me tho with the 3.3 litre engine and up graded front grill. has it always been the 3.3?
-
Whoa back to front Callipers? is that a new thing?
-
Sweet deals for OSGCs you say?

About bloody time haha!
Yup, I am slowly dragging all the bits together to get it rolling again, will hopefully make a good go of clearing it all out and get a list of crap I need in the next week or so and get some progress happening.
No worries about the spam old biggest of feet
Actually Ben, I must come and have a better look around that EX, might pop in on the weekend. Don't suppose you have any interesting wheels in a 4x114.3 for that lovely Galant? Don't worry I will come poke the pile with a stick asap
Good man Its always good to get the hard yards done on a project while its still fresh
Now as for wheels, i don't think there's anything with enough offset in a 4 stud here at the moment, FWD rims just look wayyy to skinny.
I'll check to see if I've still got a set of deep dish Revolutions in the shed, they were off a Mitsi but I cant remember if it was four or five stud? Might be too big a set of rollers for the old lady anyway, sick dish tho!

So Finally i got myself registered on here!
I'm Ben from Zebra, I must have given that car at least 5 stays of execution, I just kept looking at it thinking "man its so rust free" Then as soon as I checked and the rego was on hold, I really got into trying to sell it, Good on ya for saving it, I'll help out where I can.
So who needs EX Lancer bits? We've just got a really good one in with a d notice, so you cant buy it whole, but man there's some mint parts!

Your FD wagon has to be super rare, there's a guy here in Auckland that usually has all the contacts for spares, if you ever need any!
I've heard all about Linn (Lyn?) Rogers from a friend of mine who is literally obsessed with all things Vauxhall, he's a bit dissapointed that I've got a recon 202 to put in my Wagon. It used to be a 2.3 but I bought it engineless to save it
I will set up a page for the Victors, as soon as I finish importing my Mustang and finishing my SD1 Rover, I like to get stuck into projects but I'm learning to finish them one at a time.
Nice wheels on your car too, whats the stud pattern?
