    ill edit and update with info and pics when i can

     

    well mazda rotary intro, i was 13, my brothers mate had a rx3 s1 coupe 10A engine, took us for a spin, was hooked, so smooth and went very well

    then bought my first rx when i was 19, rx2 s1 capella coupe 12A

    then couple months later bought my first used engine lol water seals gone, had to park on a hill so could bump start lol

    my mazda & rotary list

    - 1964, Ford, Cortina, Mk1, 4dr, baby blue, RX4 13B Monster J-Port, GMC 4/71 Supercharger, toyota g/box, toyota hilux diff, FC brakes Front & Rear, 17x8.5 ZS Wheels

    - RX7, S4, 13BT, blue - work hack, yeah right, sold

    - RX8, S1, 13B 4Port, grey - bought to rebuild engine and sell .......... yeah sometime lol

    - RX7, S4, 13B 6Port, white - done few mods to engine, exhaust etc, sold

    - RX8, S1, 13B 6Port, grey - turning into a track car ..........

    - Demio, white, 1300cc big block, scrapped :(

    - Demio, 1300cc, grey ........... daily shitta

     

    ive had, 12A, 12AT, 13B, 13B 6port, 13BT, 13BTT

    Stage 2, Monster J-Port, PP, Turbo, Supercharged, in various configurations etc

    Im building a budget build rx8 4 rotor PP for my 50th, either in a, rx4 coupe or jc Cosmo.

    rx8 3 rotor for my rx8, 

    FC S5 13BT 500bhp for my FC drift car, 

    One other secret engine. Old school. Think it will suit a RX2 coupe S1 or S2 or S4 :)

    dont tell the wife :D

    bought meself a B1600 :D

    its a start, will get a better one, one day :D

    my 808 coupe was the same colour i think

    i really like this mazda blue :D

     

     

    ??? skyish blue code AT, is that it ?

    yeah thought that be the case,

    im after the mazda grey used on the flags/banners etc

    or a lightish coloured grey, something from the 60's, 70's

    im painting my engine bay, want a lightish mazda grey, so can see things easily, like oil leaks and stuff lol

    25 years agoish, was in greenlane, BP petrol station on great south road,

    heard ported rotary, ears perked up as usual,

    looking, looking, looking, cant see a rx,

    bongo van drives past with trailer, with burgundy rx2 4dr on trailer

    think bongo was camo'd, black and white

    anyone own these ?

  6. hmmmm

    brakes,

    tbh, the brakes should have been fully inspected,

    which means wheels off, no excuse

    you need to check the brake shoes for wear, uneven

    you need to check wheel cylinders, are moving freely, also not leaking

    then you need to adjust the brakes, 

    yes, drum brakes can be adjusted from outside, inside face of drum, but you wouldnt waste your time unless you knew the condition of the brakes etc

     

    you can check balance, fairly acurately, if you have a good feel for things

    2 persons, one in car for brake pedal operation, other with wheel/brake

    spin wheel, person push brake pedal, feel when it contacts, do front axle first, so r/f then l/f, a few times to get feel

    rear, do same,

    handbrake easier to test,

    get person to pull handbrake up one click at a time,

    go from side to side feeling the brake bite, should be equal bite from within 1 click etc

    should bite at 4 clicks be fully locked at 7 clicks

     

    exhaust,

    no excuse for a exhaust after its been looked at,

    easy to test, engine idling, hold a good thick rag over end of exhaust, another person check for leaks

    no excuse this wasnt fixed, either by cleaning and resealing joints with joint sealer, or replacing joints or exhaust pipe

     

    give them another go, if not fixed, go elsewhere ? :)

    ditch the ramflow, man there crap, restrictive and end up the wee bits being sucked into your engine, nice :D

    Not to me. Same thing I do. Pretty sure most car guys do 

     

    If you do buy both. Make sure you start threads for each

    If you do buy rotary engined car. Sell engine. Give a heads up here first :D

    are you buying it for the car, to refit a piston engine

    or buying it, just for the engine ?

     

    anything is worth something to the right person

     

    you need to reply with pictures and details to get a better guestimate

     

    could be a 13B from a cosmo etc also

    it has a alloy thermostat housing

    old style alternator with external fan

    short straight oil filler tube

    so who knows, as said anything could have been changed over the years

     

     

     

    yes, engine sitting not being turned over or running, is not good, especially to a rotary engine

    seals/springs tend to stick, water seals tend to go

    again, you dont know until it is checked over, compression tested and diagnosed

     

    make sure you turn it over by hand first

    remove all sparkplugs, note which position they go in to refit correctly

    then put some ATF oil in through the sparkplug holes, also can do down carb with throttle fully open

    again turn over by hand

    if turns over by hand, you could crank it over by key, with the fuel turned off and ignition power disconnected

    looks like disconnect the power to the fuel pump as its sitting on engine

    ignition, remove the electrical connectors on the distributor, again noting position to refit correctly

    then crank by key, if you put finger over trailing sparkplug holes, you will get an indication of compression, should be x3 pulses

    then if cranks over ok, check and top up fluid levels

    then refit, sparkplugs, fuel, ignition,

    try to start, you could drop some fuel down carb etc

     

    take pictures of engine from sparkplug side and post

    you will find 12A or 13B on the alloy part of engine, rotor housing, its on the top of rotor housing, either on top or left edge of rotor housing
