  1. cheers man for info,

i take it the above is for the engine size for the nz registration/road tax etc ?

only wanting nz info about nz registration/tax, nz road car stuff info

not concerned bout other countries at present

not worried about motorsport etc, but good to know cheers

sorry for silly questions, just been away too long and dont know where to look, not so good with searching too :(

is there a government etc website with this info ?

i thought i wasnt as krazy as i thought i was lol

the FB is the model code for the first generation rx7

    chassis numbers usually are

    SA22C or FB etc

    $287.75  - sweeeet :D

yeah the uk ..... everyone with there rotary cc classing, sux,

but if your lucky and have a jap import you get the 13B/1300cc tax class :D

  2. what is the engine cc on the registration documents in nz, for

    RX7 - SA22C/FB - 12A

    RX7 - FC - 13B

    RX7 - FD - 13B

as im sure the FC 13B was 1308cc ???

as here in uk it is

    RX7 - SA22C/FB - 12A - 2.3 L

    RX7 - FC - 13B - 2.4 L

    RX7 - FD - 13B - 2.6 L

are you thinking like me, weird the FC and FD both have same 13B/1308cc engine but has different engine sizes lol

or have i just forgotten what they were in nz lol, could have sworn the 13B was 1308cc

also does the FD have it down as 1308cc or 1300 cc ?

also whats the websites for road tax etc or what the road tax for an FB/FC/FD ?

    cheers :D

  3. re v5 from build

I applied for the registration documents and found out a couple things - its a 1 owner car from new - which is sweet. Second, that it was first registered in 1975, but manufactured in 1972.

So this car was hanging around for 3 years on the dealer floor (maybe as a demo?) Then sold, driven 19k miles and dropped its nuts in 1981 - after only 6 road years..

yeah ive found the uk incorrect with there documentation, me thinks you could say fraud :P lol

ive a rx7 series 4, according to the chassis number from mazda its a 1985, built in 1985, but according to uk its a 1989,

and my mazda demio is a 1998 according to mazda, but uk has it as a 2000, go figure

uk weird, as what i can see they dont use the manufacturers production/built date, but the date it was first registered, boggles the mind some lol

especially when going for parts lol

  4. RX7 FD - apexi power fc is another aftermarket ecu option, plug and play, easy to load maps too

but uses the factory engine wiring loom, so make sure your wiring loom is up to it and tested, as after many years of engine bay getting hot and cold it takes its toll on wiring and connectors, but most connectors are available, just not from mazda GRRRR

only thing is like most aftermarket ecu's the knock sensor is read only :(

  5. yeah blurple series 2 R3 (MY2009 on) thats for sure

me thinks even better with some decent wheels and lowered right :thumbleft:

factory wheels very cool,as has wee rotors in them, but some simmons or something magpie like, hmm hmm

  6. turbo rx8, emissions, i cant see that being a problem to be honest, they done it with the rx7 :D

and the rx8's ive worked on, emissions are very very low, even near california standards lol

if they done direct injection, like the what is it the16x, ie injectors in rotor housing, me thinks pretty doable :D

lol you dont buy a sports car for fuel economy :D

  7.

Anyway, don't take this the wrong way, but the likelihood of there being a Rx-8 project thread on a forum called "oldschool" is pretty slim.

dude, me not right in the head this week, man do i feel like a dumbass

no way to be taken but the way it is, makes damn good sense when you switch the brain on and think about it, cheers, lol

didnt word what i wanted/meant right :) just dont know where else ie forum/sites to look tbh, so just need pointed in the right direction if you know, cheers

was thinking/hoping maybe some of the old school rotor peeps, may know a little bit about them

  8. no, as its a dorty wee thing, havent had it valeted yet since i bought :( shame on me lol

its a MY 2005, 13B 6-port/6 speed, i fitted the factory chrome rx8 5 spoke wheels, strato blue, me thinks its purple :)

havent done much to her exterior wise, done alot of engine external work, but have plans for a interesting port for her,

you cant give em away here/n.ireland or sell them, but then they rusty things, underneath is shocking, poorly treated and maintained, hence the low prices

there cheap here/n.ireland/uk for a reason, as need alot of work, cant see many pre 2007 uk rx8's passing nz mot or import laws lol

yeah they define a excellent track car to start out with

  9. nice pics of rx8's,

what engine are the rx8's using ?

yeah the MY 2005 is a good start,

but they totally changed the engine in the R3 model, MY 2009 onwards, better oil system and few other things, there the best rx8

but the 2003-2008 are still a great wee car

my series 1 has got 63,000 miles original engine and pulls very well, stills needs some work but getting there :)

noticed the series 1 uk versions have some good wee things the jap dont, like extra button on cluster to change from miles to km,

then the jap have good things that the uk dont lol, like retractable exterior mirrors

shame they all didnt come with all the specs

im in love with the blurple R3 :)

    $_57.JPG

  10. yeah thats one part of the problems with series 1, but the later version coils are sweet, version B and C are all good

i use Bosch or GM LS coils on mine, alot better :) and can be cheaper but still good quality

but once you sort out the few wee issues, they trudge on well like

  11. my experience in uk, the old school rotor peeps, dont like them, which is sad as a fantastic car, and missing out on a new great mazda rotary

but then most uk rx8 owners are bit weird lol so that might put them off lol

only thing i find, like any car, sunroof version not good for people over 6 ft like

  12. cheers guys,

they are a fantastic car, the series 1 has had a few teething problems, but all cars have when first made, but easily fixed,

the series 2 R3 :thumbright: wow they some car like, and fixed the problems in the series 1, so all good :D

the series 1 6-port goes very well alright, the 4-port hmm lol, or i should say 192 or 231 for the uk peeps :P

yeah exhaust way too quiet, but reminds me of a stock series 1 rx7, they sounded funny as with the stock exhaust system

kiwi808 - fc has the handbrake on lol,

love FC's, totally an underestimated car, people just seem to by pass them, series 1-3 then straight to series 6-8 lol

miss my series 4 13BT, went through some tyres/gearboxes etc with that thing lol,

blue series 4 , SZ 8317, wonder if its still about ?

but now have a Series 5 GTR, project, needs some work like, just need to get it home somehow

na, not looking one at present, maybe in a few years

but wouldnt mind seeing whats about with a blowin engine or rolling shell, next year

just want to know more about them in the nz car scene thats all :)

    keep info coming :)

  13. just seeing whats up,

    who owns one ?

many with blowin motors/rolling shells ?

what do people in nz think of them ?

please post a link to an rx8 project thread etc,

tried a search but no luck :(

got the old - no results found for "rx8"

    grrrr

  14. man thats a lovely mk2 lad :D

    there is always unreal prices,

but then there still is people with common sense and realistic prices, just have to weed the others out lol, takes some time like lol

the prices for them in uk is unreal, other planet prices in ireland, and there shit boxes, rusty as anything, you'll only know how bad if youd lived and worked on them in uk, surf down the panels no bother

there MOt/WOF isnt the strictest lol, from what ive seen, they tend to patch rust here, just weld a panel over the rusty hole lol

repaired by someone worse than being blind and still want your arm leg and kidney lol

only bonus in uk i can see is, get one from europe or spain/malta etc,

and the repair panels and parts, pretty good selection in uk,

but the old mk2 cortina never got the attraction it deserves, mk1 cortina or mk1/2 puscorts (escort) got though

i always look at a mk2 cortina like the little brother to the XY falcon :D smaller car, smaller engine lol

always wanted to drop the v6 and suspension and brakes outta a zepher into one to see what they like

seen 2dr mk2 for sale starting at $500 nzd, says has rust, sure might be a good starting point lol

  15. useless info, butt in, if keeping the stock twin turbos, define go non sequential, gets rid of all the crap and makes it so much more reliable and less parts to go wrong and intermittent problems, dont know why they didnt do it in the factory from the beginning

but yeah single is so much better again :D

  16. cheers, was my long term dream project car that came true, heart and soul sweat tears etc lol, also big help from my mates :D ben, brad, brian, nyle, maurice, mark(RES) theyve had and still have some cool rotors

even though im totally going to strip it again and totally change things again, new steering setup and front suspension change again lol

started out with a 12A, not enough power so went 13B ......... maybe one day i'll be finished modding it :)

still needs a final tune and few we things done

just love fords and mazdas :D had to combine the two

looking a mk2 in future, as so much easier to rotorise :D

  17. ^^^ lol

think it be a piston car for a long while as would like it as a daily

but if a rotor me thinks either a n/a, either a13B Monster J-port or PP or most likely an RX8 R3 engine and 6 speed,

already have a mk1 cortina with a 13B Monster J-port, so would like to do something different

  18. wow

thought thered be a few of everything left,

suppose/hoping there still some stuck in barns or garages somewhere in nz,

wonder whats down the south island

just for curious, any pics of the mk2 wagon ?

wonder what aussie land has to offer :)

    cheers
