  1. Yea exactly. My mates did it without the slots but I think they have to pull the motor out to get the tank off.

I think they tapped a new hole in the back of the tank as there was spare steel for them to do that.

my China tank is different and the hose comes out in the wrong spot to move it over.

I think the DEK or the orange motor has a tank with the filler right at the front and the tank is easy to move over also.

    I'll do it one day..

  2. yea check for crud under the rocker cover, they get coked up bad and chew out the cams if the oil has not been regularly changed.

also, the timing chain hits the guard between the cam pulleys when the tensioner gets fucked and makes it rattle bad on startup. if you notice the chain is a bit slack, and it has a bit of a rattle on startup only, knock him down on price and then replace the cam chain tensioner for $50 and your golden

  3. What ecu are you running? I'm 95% sure that on 100% of aftermarket ecu's you hook up your tps Then set it at zero then mash the pedal and set it at 100%. Then it does not matter what ratio of mover it has relative to the actual butterfly opening.

It is good to have as much sensor movement as you can for better resolution.

  4. What's the deal with ordering tools like knipex pliers from Germany? Do any of the sellers on there ship stuff over here? Also do you have to watch out for border tax?

I just bought direct from a seller on ebay Germany that shipped to nz. Total cost was under the 300 or 400 nzd cut off for get and got to my door in a week.

  5. +1 KoKen 1/2 set. A fine tooth ratchet would make it better.

All of my pliers, cutters, and multi grips are knipex. not that cheap buy you can buy them in various sets on ebay Germany for 1/2 the price here. I have all sizes of knipex cobra multi grips and I give them shit. I'm a big guy and I often find myself hanging all my weight on the handles of the 300 mm pair. The stud will snap before the jaws let go!

wiha insulated screwdrivers are good. Also buy on eBay Germany for half the price. Keep them clean with gritty hand cleaner and they will stay all lush and new looking. I work on live 230 and 400v every day with them.

Powerboat spanners are good value for money. I have a set that I cut and bend to suit tight places.

Stay clear of SP tools. I have a socket set and ratchet spanners that are rat shit. I needed them in a hurry for a job and they were available. They also had v8 supercar tax on them.

JBS ratchet spanners are much better and a bit cheaper.

  6. Got back from chch last night. Around 2100km total by the time i went and caught up with some mates and a bunch of chch OS gc's.

Bit heavy on the way back.

  7. Don't know if its applicable where you are but careful they don't hit you with a fill cert for >600mm.

    Also is that a panther?

N/A already signed off. The floor is not a structural part of the shed so anything goes.

Yes it is a panther. It bites me when I don't feed it at 6 am sharp, or if I don't leave it any milk in my weetbix bowl.

And it thinks I need more killing practise cos it brings me live animals at night

  8. Done some more work. Got a lot of fill in there and levelled most of it.

Got the base of the all important hoist marked out and dug out to be 200mm thick

Then i rolled it with my work car until my clutch leg got sore but i couldn't get all the edges. I hired a compactor after work today and pushed it round until my hands went numb. I also left it on autopilot here and there....

  9. Just get a manual box, flywheel and clutch, gearbox mount, clutch pedal and clutch master cylinder.

I have done it on a couple of U12's and it's pretty easy if you have the parts. Easiest would be to buy a damaged or rusty manual one and have it beside your car so you can just swap all the parts that are different.

Also you will have to short out the park/neutral switch from the auto gearbox so it will start.

  10. It'll be it. It's carby. Check your float bowl, it could have electronic ignition but there's an equal chance it's still points so check those too and your condensor. Best option would be to get some twin or triple carbs, put them on and tell that single 2BBL Hitachi to eat a dick.

Looks like points from the turners photos.

Sounds like a fuel related issue. these carbs have a window on the front to check the float level. Just need to pull the air cleaner off. Also it's electric fuel pump and in my experience they die once they have some age on them and get parked up for a while. So check that too.

If you change to twin or triple carbs, I'll buy the one you have now
