  1. couple of interior pics.

original as. aftermarket 70's tacho kind of ruins the mint dash, but sweet 8 track player makes and selection of terrible 80's tapes makes up for it!

  2. was thinking about this the other day, as i will be in need of freight options.

i there no-one that does a regular group container from Aussie ? along the same lines as the guys that bring stuff in from the States.

the queer thing is that when i have couried small parts to Aus, it was cheaper and quicker than to Auckland

container freight from oz to nz is some of the most expensive in the world. its cheaper to get a container from LA to auckland, than brisbane to akl.

  3. 10 years ago a few mates put a 2tg head on a 3tgte. They didn't even take the motor out. Just sanded the top of the block clean, chucked a new head gasket on and bolted the 2tg head on.

t3 from a single turbo 300zx and it was a weapon.

  4. Nz new doesn't have ltnz vin tag iirc

Yea I had a 89 bluebird nz new no Vin tag. Also the nissan tag with the engine and gearbox codes etc was held on with these plastic clip rivet things which were pretty brittle and one broke over the years so could easily have fallen off

  5. Oh hey Andre - that would be awesome! If I replace the screen in Viva one then its old screen can go into Viva wag. The screen in this Viva wag is pretty damn scratched.

Does anyone know of any thing out there that actually polishes scratches out of glass?

there is a couple of places in oz that can buff out glass scratches.

Im sure somebody in NZ would do it. Or you can watch the youtube vids of it and buy the stuff to do it yourself

  6. Dads got a vx land cruiser I can grab any time.

Cheers man, ill let you know when im planning to move the car.

I had talked myself out of painting the floor due to cost but i just saw bart's floor and i want

    Anyway, where was i...

I made these perfect rebates in the floor for the doors so the rain would not get blown in

    Image00017_zpsnpfa2niy.jpg

However, i did not take into account the thickness of the lip on the bottom of the door. fuck.

    Image00018_zpssdjqcnls.jpg

A bit of head scratching and discussion over many beers and the answer was obvious.

    Flip the tracks around

    Image00019_zps6mgn06z7.jpg

Just needed a few blocks of wood to pack out the mounting brackets.

Next mission was a trench for the power cable and while i was at it, water pipes too.

Power cable was 75m long, 600mm deep, and about another 130m of 300mm deep for water pipes.

    Image00022_zpspfgh6w6s.jpg

a chain trencher is an awesome tool, sooo much better than the shovel. Its also great at finding things you never knew were buried. Like my neighbours water pipes, and various electric fence cables

    Image00021_zps59ihhtx8.jpg

About 3 hours trenching, works out to 9 hours of back filling

    Image00020_zpshahm2ga4.jpg

The left over concrete was poured into a pad at the end of the shed to make a small shelter for my water pump and also compressor to keep the noise as far away from her indoors as possible

    Image00023_zpsvmp6ilvm.jpg

Next up was finishing the trench by hand. I found 3 downpipes, 2 water pipes, 1 power cable, and 2 electric fence cables here. wont be doing that again.

    Image00024_zpsy2fdvqy5.jpg

I also ripped out the 20 year old downpipes as they had a good build up of dust, leaves, dead birds etc.

I replaced them with a screen thingy and also a first flush diverter that i have half ifnished

    Image00025_zpsov1pv9ug.jpg

Thats about as far as i have got. Its been raining here after work for a while. Next job is

-install the power cable at both ends

    -build a pump shed

    -do some more plumbing

    -wire up the shed

    -build some shelving

-level the ground out front and pour about 80m2 more concrete

-work on some cars. maybe. next year?

  7. i cant work a computer well enough to model all the suspension.

I made some steering arms out of a bit of thin box steel that were a bit of a guess, but had the correct ackerman.

then bought a cheap laser pointer from somewhere, attached it to the hub face, took out the spring, and lifted the suspension up and down.

Get someone to mark the line on the wall as it goes up and down, bit of trigonometry and you have the angle. you want it to be vertical meaning no toe change.

if your cunning, you will put a mirror on the wall, and a plate on the hub, then your twice as accurate and can do it with no helper

Then you change the steering arm length, height, rack height, pivot point etc. one day it will work out and then measure up and machine out of steel

  8. Cut the oil level sensor off. Last thing you want is the fuckin engine cutting out when your getting your motoGP on getting away from some old boy that's chasing you with a stick for doing wheelies on the golf course.

Have you bypassed the governor? If so, put the front wheel against a wall an give it full throttle while you pull it. The governor gives it full tap for startup even with the hand throttle off.

Also, what they said about the main jet. It can get blocked up easily, or sometimes they are all china'd out from the factory and need a birthday.
