if you were closer I have a 1992 manual v3000 here not doing anything that would make a great donor, don’t see to many manual ones
Random request and sorry if I hijacked the thread but can you get a photo of the sump on the 3000? Thanks

I'd say dont try release videos on a weekly basis just for the sake of it.
If you end up making low quality filler videos just to meet your schedule then people will tune out real quick.
Aim for meaningful content regardless of how long that might take between videos.
If you watch the likes of Project Binky for example, it's highly scripted even though it might seem like you've spent an hour watching them do not much.
People have infinitely small attention span now that there's essentially infinite content to consume.
If I watch a video that starts out interesting but then person starts waffling then I'm not gonna watch any others from that same person.
Good concise content and I'll go look at some others from same person and likely subscribe.
You only need to put in marginally more effort to make exponentially better content than people just live streaming their brains onto the internet.
Also a wireless lav mic helps infinitely to make video sound more professional and less echo-ey, especially on the shots where you're far from the camera.
Cheap for big improvement in audio, something like this

Kinda thought about it but the weekly schedule works for me in more of a motion to get up there and do stuff haha. I will look at mic after work today sadly my camera won't take an external mic so will have to borrow my gf one

+1 for wireless mic pls
Had to turn my speakers up while listening to the talking and it wreeeeeeecked my ears when the camera angle changed and noises were loud haha
Alternatively, you could just run some subtitles
Enjoying the videos none the less, looking forward to seeing the progression in both the cars and your YT career.
Keen to see the following two videos if you're looking for ideas
- Full garage tour, showing all the bits and pieces
- Full garage clean up. This would be a very satisfying time lapse hahaClean up maybe coming in September as having a change of lease. Full tour is hard with the amount of stuff in there haha and only myself being there to film it but I'll see what happens

Shit yeah cut out all the ahhh's and ums.
I also get rid of my heavy breathing which is actually just normal breathing but the helmet mic is right in front of my face.
This video I did in December probably has the most cuts of any video I've ever done. Response was a majority of people not minding. A few complained about it being choppy and changing too much. https://youtu.be/fa6LpN3ra74
Good on ya dude. Even when you can't be assed and feels like it's not worth it - there is an audience for literally anything and everything. Keep at it and that will grow. I've sunk tonnes of my own money and even more time into my channel. I got my first ever youtube money recently. 2 + years of effort, thousands spent and I got back $300. I was over the moon! Felt so good, and it's not the monetary value either that matters for me but it was more a sign of I've been doing the right thing and it's worth continuing. Hit 1000 subscribers half way through last year which enabled me to monetise my stuff. Took another 8 months and one semi successful video for money to appear. I honestly didn't even expect it to actually be real money but it was. Will probably take another years efforts to get another few hundred. But either way, it's all exponential. I got my second lot of 1000 subscribers in half the time it took to get the first lot.
Good to see others out there giving it ago. Keep it up.
Also nice shed. Thanks mate, honestly I would cut out all the ums and errs but personally I prefer some human feel too it. Also I realy need to invest in a wireless mic. Its definitely proving to be more popular than I expected haha especially as in person I'm quite a shy and quiet person who mumbles. Thanks for the support.

There's already a big improvement between the first and most recent video! You're clearly getting a bit more comfortable talking to the camera.

Stage 4: the engine. its tired, blowing more smoke than my grandfather and taps like Gene Kelly.
So tbh i have been planing the engine swap fro a few months now, First i brought a whole land rover for the 4.6L V8. (yes that is another 3.5 and a Honda city turbo engine in the background)
while stripping this down i was looking at cams and found a hot auckland cams cut that stated "Needs increased compression ratio" and well that is like saying go nuts. so i looked around at how rover mad both the 4.6 and 4.0l engines have the same 9.35:1 ratio. I then found that the only difference is the pistons and this is how they made the 8:1 ratio low compression ones. so well i brought a 4l bottom end
so with my maths if the 4.6 pistons in a 4l block lower the compression ration then the 4l pistons with a 4.6 stroke will raise it to about 10.75:1 (only 0.25:1 higher than a stock 3.5L P6 engine) perfect
armed with a box of bits that i got just befor lock down
I have started the clean up process (Rods and pistons chilling on a jag)
as a touch of madness hit... i removed the spot welds on the front rad support... less angle for the v8 to get in and out of the bay
then i got bored and well may have made a starter fit in the body as the solinoid did hit the chassis... not no more with a slight tweek to its angle
And some new mounting holes
well now you are up to date hopefully more to come soon

Right then i got news that i was having to go into lock down for 4 weeks, so i did what any normal person would do... I moved the rover and all the parts to my parents place.
there is a reason for this, my car and workshop are not at my hose so i have no access to them for 4 weeks unacceptable
any who stage 3: New exhaust
firstly getting the Landrover 3.9L headers to fit just needed alittle tweek to the chassis... or if your a cert officer, they bolted right in
Next up some custom down pipes to clear the starter and clutch (Yes the block of wood on the gearbox is highly important)
next was lots... and i mean lots of thinking, cutting and welding (Did i mention this exhaust is made out of 100% recycled pipes)
New front section
And rear (tip has now been changed as this looked like poo)
-
Right update time, well i'm stuckin isolatio for 4 weeks so what better thing to do than to work on the rover... so I am (hopefully ill be able to get a fait bit done)
Stage 1: clean up, eg paint the damn roof. its been bugging me for years that the vynal on the roof has been this faded gray (48 years of sun will do that) so i cracked out some old vinal die i had from when i painted some of the interior of my civic and set to work
Started with this one side and it looks better but looked really dark when i put it on but hey ho its on now
first take on the roof (yes i know the rear screen looks like trash)
Roof covered, ok actually doesn't look bad
Really good comparison of before and after in neutral light
Stage 2: fix the speedo, never was connected when i bult the car (Jap speedo drive in T5, english cable on speedo)
Fixed, with nothing more than zip ties and a bottle cap

I'm not sure on GTOs specifically but on most cars there's a little bit of adjustment on the glass but most of the adjustments are in the mechanism. There should be a fixed part of the mechanism then an amount of rotation and movement from that, that allows for some fettling. The window guides themselves can have some adjustment too. Make sure nothing is fouling or binding when you get close to the top. It might be that it's sticking on something as opposed to being out of stroke.
thanks, ill have a poke around. it seems its hitting a stop as winder is not fully extended but the 2 stops in the hanes book are not touching. wonder if there is an early and late door as the car i have has been put together from a couple.

Just starting a topic to keep folks up to date about 2 years ago I started the mad beams powered rover 2000 swap... there is a whole playlist on YouTube what i've learnt is don't try and rewire a car, then fit it into a car from the 60s and then think anything will fit... but it dose and it will work
