  1. so now with the carbs fitting i can begin to fill the holes up haha made a plate up for the bulkhead to try help keep its strength then made up some end plates and glued them in so with that part done i have started to build an airbox well a mould so i can make a fibre glass one using some light alloy i have at home so with that part made roughly i latherd it in some pva to start the fibre glassing but with the weather today its a bit of a waiting game haha
  2. so got bored this long weekend couldnt go anywhere with work so did some choping up of the firewall for a airbox and cleance for the new bike carbs and this will provide us with a hole to make an alloy airbox to clear the filters but heres the carbs sitting in there with the half done manifold and another angle this is going to allow us to use a standard looking bonnet no hump
  3. so today the inovate motorsports lc2 wideband turned up should help us tune the engine to be alot stronger with the fcrs on the fly
  4. They vent them for blow by the more I think about it as you will always tend to have some leakage specialy with forced induction
  5. We have had a few issues at testing of pushing oil from our sump breather but nothing from the top we are venting the sump also with the high rpm and high compression .it then allows the oil from the cylinder head to flow back down with out being forced up but we were using a dash 8 fitting out of the sump but with the forces was pushing up to our catch can but welded a little bit of break line to reduce the size and keep it above the oil level and havent had any issues since they tend to vent the sump alot on turbo cars I have read
  6. heres the beginnings of the new manifold for the fcr 41s
  7. yes would be alot easeir hahah but i gues ud just have to work out the ratio of the drop gears and simulate that with a self tensioning chain setup possibly but mateting the two together is where it becomes tricky
  8. can imagine that would be a fair amount of work nutting out the chain setup then spining the motor to suit
  9. so today with some spare time with helping Evan with his s1 rx7 subframe i managed to remove the engine and fit the dumby motor to allow us to work out how much of the fire wall we are to cut away and also found some big issues which ill describe later so heres the front end with out the engine pritty bare i know but seems to do the job quite well haha from another angle so heres a block and gearbox cases i have to sit in for welding to so we dont risk anything on the race engine the block is a blue top block bored out for oversize but never ended up getting used and an old red top head i have laying around so with that in marking out of fire wall can get started ! so a major problem found today was our shocks are too short something we thought nothing off but is really costing us lap speed or corner exit due to the wheels wont go down with the anti roll bar well they go down but the drop like 10 mm which explains why we buzz the lh front at taupo all the time also found the tie rod to not allow the rose joint down which doesnt help either so off onto the web to find some new standard length shocks its amazing finding out this now how we the car did drive haha should be a million times better when we get the suspension moving correctly while the engines out i will throw a new clutch in as its getting hammerd of the starts with me loading it but after a season the linning and fly wheel and pressure plate still look good so will replace any way for peace of mind cause next season the motor stays in haha over removing it all the time for gearbox changes by for now
  10. so now with the race mini in a milion pices again we have a few items that are no longer needed for the 4age so decided that the exauxt is pritty shabby on the old girl so with the race car getting new system its time to give the old greenie some love so this is the new muffler setup to go on its probbly a tad big but it will do for now also currently in the procces of cleaning up my cooper twin carbs for it mangaed to get a electric fan kit to solve cooling issues we had at the like of beach hop try to get the air flowing nicely with my other car geting disc brakes on the rear it has freed up alloy spaced drums and good mintex shoes and new wheel cylinders so they will be going on soon along with the 4 pot vented brakes !
  11. race seasons over we had a mini fun day at taupo to end the season and then had prize giving that night so we ended up doing around 65 laps of track 1 at taupo enough for me to feel the body the next day hahah but all in all went well broke an axel first one all season better to have hapend on the fun day than at a race meeting id say so slaped a new one in and away we went heres some pictures cheers to greg (64valiant) and Evan and the rest of the team for the quick change and also the tasks of beltn in passengers all day so with the dirty stuff outa the way was time for prize giving ended up doing pritty well i must say pritty stoked for a new build to not have many dramas and come away with 1st in the open class , 2nd overall , rookie of the year , and most inovate team of Gare Motor sports so really stoked that we were able to string it all together so as for now the cars jacked up and its development time hehe so cutting up old inlet manifold to make a new short one for the FCR 41 carbs we picked up so with this under way room for weight removal is under way on driver and car haha i will keep ya posted on more devlopment works as it happens as theres alot going on

  15. Hi mate ended up buying the pannels of minisport in aussie they have a website with all there parts on it from.what I gather they dont have anything to do with the uk mini sport very good bloke to deal with. I just bought another mini which im getting tomorrow to strip out for spare parts haha
  16. The carbs to me sound so great when ya jump on the throttle I rekon and injection would cost us to much like everything it has its fors and agaisnts but bike carbs is where its at haha.the carbs have spent there life on a speedway car im not sure what exactly but will do the job for us when I run ot on the dyno will get some figures to put up theres alot in I rekon as we are slightly to rich by just a tad and going down 1 jet is too lean
  17. so its almost looking like new again just a few more things to sort out so we found some fcr 41 r1 race carbs flat slide down draught should make some gains over the standard r1 carbs will fit in the off season with the addition of disc brakes to the rear
  18. since i have a few moments spare here is what the car sounds like inside around hampton downs with the right diff ratio ahha started 60 seconds behind first car https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=qzJWoDGphKE
  19. hey mate the r1 carbs wernt bad to jet at all only problem we have at the moment is the sizes we have as you can not get a range of jets we have number drills some jets but need in between sizes but that should change soon as we have got a set of fcr 41 race carbs sitting in the shed we bought a bit back.
  20. got the panel work as close as i culd for a mechanic hahabut is close enough and then had a friend paint the car so now we wait for paint to dry and can begin to put all the fuel cell etc back in
  21. so over the weekend the pannels turned up from aussi and we began to cut the car up new panel ready to go on new boot floor section in and now the rear
  22. so been flat out and havnt been on here in a while heres a few pics that were takin from an awsome beach hop weekend seen some amazing cars and meet some cool people but for the mini was a bit of a sad one car kept over heating tryed everything i could with a screw driver as its all we had haha but all in all a good weekend have some mods under way of removing the disc setup thats on the casr and replacing with a 4 pot vented setup i have got off a mg metro and definatly an electric fan is a must so heres the temp gauge while trying to head to the warf to get some pictures after going down the main haha but all is still well with the beast thanks to Greg for the pics (64valiant)
  23. so grabed another bumber to fit on to help semi hide the damage and semi played with a tail light assembly so a lense could fit shell do the job for taupo at easter until new panels are fitted and we have time more updates of the damage to come
  24. sorry for the delay had beach hop etc on so have been away well hampton downs didnt go to plan on the saturday getting smacked in the rear after avoiding oil slick but thats racing thanks to the boys we had a semi straightish car for sunday so on sunday mangaed to get car home in 2nd place which we were stoked and with a correct tire choice of slicks in the 3rd race we mangaed to come home 1st big credit to everyone who helpd out over the weekend now for a quick patch job to get it ready for taupo fit a bumber quick paint and some more duct tap and a tail light wont be the flashist but will do and willcut the rear outa the car in th off season
