Is the 4gr the same block and crank pattern as the 1gr? I know when I was looking at 2gr RWD conversions the 1GR truck motor was quite different

If there's a difference between the fwd and rwd 2gr alone then more than likely the block is different, the crank pattern appears to be the same going off what information is listed with those flywheels but then there's the likelihood of the ring gear working and the rest

was just being silly, that lightweight truck flywheel is still heavy as

You're right, 8 kilos is probably better than nothing but still a bit portly

  2. Hey man! Saw your car today at Mission Bay and I had to snap a shot, loving it!

Sweet! Cheers dude, can't believe how much your car makes mine look like a 4x4 though, so good

Great quick upgrade!  The wheels look sweet too

Awesome write up of stuff you've done too man.

    Thanks!

Jelly of your awesome wheels, looks great.

    Swaps for beams just saying

I want to have 20v dorts with this

    This should probably happen

  3. kevlar lining on sprung drive plate with heavy duty pressure plate should answer your question

Autoclutch in morningside built me something similar for my 1jz, gave them my whole clutch and flywheel, they rebuilt it all and did a full face kevlar plate to suit + loads more clamp on the cover. Worked great, can't say a bad word about those guys

  4. Woah, thanks everybody!

Glad to see that this is being taken care of better than I ever could. Nice work man, I hope you're happy with it all. Did you get that air thing working? Did it work? Whatever it is/was.

Edit: How far away from Olsen Ave in Hillsborough are you? Weird co-incidence/not relevant to anything at all.

Double Edit: Looks like you could fit a JZ in there instead... ...just sayin'

Man, i'm super happy with it, don't think i've had a car with shits and giggles factor this high. Ah yes, the "CLEAN ACE®", it's an air purifier I think, not sure if i'd bother to get it working but I left it in there anyway 'cause it's weird/quirky

Olsen ave's just down hillsborough rd from me actually, about a minute or so

Yes, this is true, and I even have a 'jz but it's spoken for

    Looks good man!

Bring it to ellerslie meet on Wednesday I'll take some fancy pics for ya.

And/or take me a for drive, keen to hear some 4age carina racket!

Also, what's your Soarer? *Z1* by the looks? pics plz

I'm there man, there's about a 50/50 chance i'm at that mexicali any given night anyway, i've got a real burrito problem. Sounds good!

Soarers a z20 that's been off the road for about 84 years, but i'm workin on that problem

I would actually kill somebody for a z10 however

Yeah this thing is super cool, I was ogling it at the Toyota festival!

Good work, its also rad how many km's this thing has on it.

Ha, cheers, yep almost cracked half a mill now!

p.s. stop making your starlet so mint you're making the rest of us look bad

This thing is brilliant! What diff are you running currently? T-series?

Cheers! Yep it's t series irs, stock, extremely open 4.1 at the moment, that's the next big thing to replace, a shorter ratio would be good too.

Actually if anyone could tell me whether it's a big or small axle type that would be terrific

RAD! and the 4age looks just lovely  :-)

Reminded me of this read: http://www.speedhunters.com/2015/03/jdm-underdog-the-four-door-ae86/

Also, what model Carina does your friend have? I own a ta41 sedan and I don't find many relevant examples of other Carinas outside of Eastern Europe or of course Japan

Thanks! Sweet, ta41s must be getting really thin on the ground now, right? My friend is NicT, his car's on here, it's a ta63

I was looking at this and was like "ah sweet another carina"

Then I was like "duh, i know that car..."

Hurry up and finish yours, and I don't want to hear any more of these 'I have a newborn' excuses
