Or look for a gearbox from another B-series vehicle - Oxford, Marina or MGB?

Great pics.

Can't remember if the 1300 had a separate solenoid, but it's an easy fix. NOS one on Trademe for $25 http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/austin-rover/auction-772128306.htm - iirc starter motor should be the same as a Mini, just check whether it's pre-engaged or inertia type.

Waikumete upholsterers - highly recommended
Thanks.

Can anyone recommend a good auto upholsterer in West Auckland? My seats need recovering (in vinyl or period cloth), and my door cards need restoration.
Cheers,
Bryan.

the old Hapuahenua Viaduct left to rot after being replaced by a new concrete version
Restored as part of the Ohakune Old Coach Road cycleway

P76 is quite rotten, would need a huge amount of work to repair
Still got the alloy V8, and the "upmarket" Executive twin headlight front end and bucket seats.

Been watching this on trademe http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/triumph/auction-758193620.htm Assuming the engine mounts etc are all up to scratch would a triumph 2000 tc be able to be certed with this engine? or would a stronger diff and bigger brakes be needed. Thinking of buying as a donor for my car as the running gear looks good car is shit though. Previous cert is null and void not even worth mentioning in ad i take it.
Same diff as the TR6 sports car and Dolomite Sprint, Quaife LSD available. If it has standard Triumph brakes, they are solid disk and drums, 14" inch wheels so a bit small for that power.

Sorry, guys, posted this in the other rego thread...
I bought my Coupe as an unfinished project. It has had rust removed (sills and around windscreen) - I have photos (off TradeMe) of the work being done (looks like a panel beater's workshop), but no record of who did it. Will that cause problems with the VIN/cert process? Do I need to track down the guy who had the work done (two owners ago)?
It also came with two sets of plates - the original dead plates, and a live set from another Coupe (same size engine). I'd prefer to put it back on the road with the original plates that match the engine and chassis numbers. Do I just need to ring the nice lady (Tania?) at LTSA and fill in the form, attach photos of plates, and show the receipt from the previous owner?

I expect these questions will have been answered before, but I couldn't find anything recent when I searched...

I don't mind if it costs more, I just like the idea of keeping it as original as possible, including the matching black plates.

its about 6" shorter than the 1800
... but the bean counters made them use the 1800's doors , hence the looong wheelbase. They also shoe-horned the silky smooth 2.2l 6-cylinder version of the OHC Maxi engine into the 1800 and Princess - now that would have made the Maxi fly...
The Maxi looks good lowered a tad, with some wheels that fill the arches better (imho).
Nothing wrong with a quick Allegro - the UK got the 1750 twin carb engine, and BL eventually sorted the ride and handling (although too late, as usual ). A mate had one with a warmer cam for commuting from Chch to Lincoln Uni, back in the '80s. Ate Escorts for breakfast .
A KV6 from a Rover 75 would have made an interesting transplant in the Maxi - an Austin Rover parts bin special.

My dad bought one of these old girls new in 1973. 200ci with 3-on-the-tree, "Cosmic" metallic blue with brown vinyl interior and slot mags (ROH iirc). He made a full-length roofrack from 1"x1" steel tube. Took the family from Auckland to Christchurch for the '74 Commonwealth Games. Lots of fond memories, and a soft spot for the old wagons (and Hardtops) ever since.

Could you run a dual exhaust with smaller 1-3/4" pipes (same flow as single 2-1/2" pipe), then combine them at the rear into your muffler of choice?
By the way, what happened to your twin carb 1750 motor? It's basically the same as the one in my Marina, but iirc the Maxi HL got factory twin-pipe exhaust extractors ...
