  1. Man if you were in Rotorua I'd sort you out no worries. Probably only charge around ~$20 if you could drop the wheels off in the evening and pick them up the next day.

Albeit I can't help you out, if any Rotorua member's need anything, let me know.

Il be in when the new wheels arrive from japan in a few weeks need tyres swapped between 2 sets

  2. yeh planning on leaving stock and auto and will be having a pro do wiring engine and box are cheap to start with though at $150. Wonder if they are immobolised like vvti jzs are out of a 01 mark 2

  3. Does anyone know anything about what would be required from the original car. I understand they are e throttle so would require that no? and they run auto which is sweet but anything that could be a huge paint in the ass?

  4. i usually measure rims by putting a tape measure thru the spokes and measuring bead to bead

as for the offset being too much, a certifier should pick it up, 20% is the maximum, unless you fit different heavier duty hubs as per the LVV std

So for heavier duty diff could that say going to a full rear live axle diff and hub setup from a heavier vechicle be suffieciently heavier duty or must it be custom stuff?

ie my diff is the same as in the toyota estima which weighs around 1700kg compared to my car 1300 shoud this not show the hub assemby can handle a bit more stress than its currently dealing with?

  5. The Akaroa summit road is a pretty fun drive in a light supercharged car.

And Waiou to Kaikoura is the best road I've ever driven. Fuck all traffic. It's like a  targa rally.

Twistys, long straights, steep hills. It has everything!

OS needs to do that run again this summer.

+1 on summit road the datsun loved it yesterday

  6. Since theres already a thread on it i was wondering how i would go about converting to irs? and what my best bet found a cheap ma70 rear end but dont real really no whats the go with modifying this to work. or is the best bet to find a ms123 irs and try that??? thanks ahead of time

  7. how are rims measured for wof and cert purposes ie how do they tell the difference between a proper inch rim an one the is a 3 inch and 6 inch lip with around a half inch centre between?

ans same with offset im not asking what rules are butsay the rim was 5mm more negative than allowed on a 16x9 would it be picked up on or not? assumming 20% of a 9inch rim is 45mm and offset is minus 50-55

  8. So the car might sell this afternoon iv been just doing little tidy up things to it and just gave it a full service. I decided to give it a spirited drive up the ports hills up summit road and it was beatiful drove perfectly and was a real joy of a drive highly recommend the road. Decided to take a couple photos up the top where i stopped and spotted a couple of the elusive port hills deer feeding below. The road edge of a walking track.

  10. I interested in the rules with welding on vechicles for certs etc.

I see you have to pass a test for the lvvta tester on some things but not others etc but then a few mates iv talked to just took lots of photos or got things x rayed and it was good enough.

Mainly for shortening a diff and rewelding all the mounts and adding say a base plate for an air bag who can do this? and what if something was done before you have owned.

Also for welding up / fabricting engine mounts  and gear box x member whats the go.

oh and is i where to notch the chassis is it allright to take say a 30-40mm notch out and box up the remaining section to restrengthen in as id only need around an inch or 2 something similar to sheepers crown i suppose

  11. how do you size bags for your front and rear suspension ie is there a calculation ie bellow count x psi x area etc etc ie i looking for a set to lift a wagon rear end moderately quick and the front quick with a decent lump of engine ie v8 in it. or is speed all based on port size. also it has wish bone front and coil rear

Also to the people saying search i have and cant find anything real world unles its hidden somewhere in the 144 pages of the wof/cert/reg which is far to large to look  through to find. So i propose this becomes a new thread to help people find info on this as im sure its off use to a lot of people.

if you want comfort il vouch for them and especially the newer ones.the diesels  have pretty resonable go and dirt cheap for fuel. used mums a6 for a 2 weeks as a daily and never had to top up and i lived 60 kms out of town.

  14. as all answered

Yeah 1uz's in crowns are off set factory

What motor in what are we talking about here?

A lot of traction control systems use abs inputs to decipher if the wheels are spinning yo!

Perfer not to say yet incase it doesn't happen maybe leave it as a suprise until an its happenning for sure.

And i looked into this engine did come leaned in some vechicles standard. so it should be sweet.

  15. I think its more a question of what is your desired engine. as some manufactures use a second throttle plate as a traction control and some use abs and some use actuators to lift the pedal itself ,  so how to disable them really depends on the particular system you have.

and as said put the engine together and plonk it in the hole. try put as much of it together as possible then decide if its easier to cut the sump to clear or lower the sub frame etc. . . many different ways you can make things fit, all depends on what you can do, like if you don't have a welder then cutting up the sump isn't going to be easy so spacing out the sub frame might be something you can achieve your self

all sorts of good ideas on the forum, many different ways to skin a cat

yeh i read into it this engine and its a second plate so will likely just remove said plate
