  1. Wow the bike looks amazing! Very good job mate, looks very good
  2. Starting to look good mate, I can't wait to see the finished product.
  3. Pulse jets are bloody easy, and noisy as hell haha
  4. Haha they will love it, hope they don't come knocking lol. First up should be a test engine, as if I put it in a bike or a cart and it does not run, it will be a wast of time. Hope to get it under way soon and see how well it runs
  5. Hello all, I have been thinking of making either a jet powered cart or a motorbike, a motorbike would be easy to build, just use the thrust to power it, and a go cart would also be easy as well, just use the thrust again. Or you could go to the trouble of building an external shaft powered blower that runs off your exhaust gasses. It's simple to build a jet engine, by using an old turbo charger off a car or truck, you just hook oil up and make a combustion chamber. I've got most of the parts to build one, oil pump, "old power steering unit",,, fan for the oil radiators, 2 oil radiators for better cooling, and oil filter. You can run the engines on anything really, diesel, petrol, LPG, you name it any fuel. Let me know your thoughts. Cheers
  6. Awesome thanks for that, I will stock up on some xt parts, I've got a complete engine, no carb though, there a nice bike to ride. Had a few problems today, either the spark plug is on it's way out, or the coil, there is no battery or light connected, hope it's ok to run the bike like that. That's how I got it anyway, everyone seems to do it. Thanks for your comment
  7. Well here she is, pretty mint old bike, missing the airbox and side plastics, if there are any available, or you know of any parts PM me, Cheers
  8. Got another bike today, turns out to be a pretty mint yamaha TT250 with spear engine, frame, and other bits, starts easy, no smoke, no exhaust on it as yet, needs welding. Other than that, she is pretty mint, needs rest of the plastics to complete it and the air box. Pictures soon
  9. Hi there, sorry for late replies, 77magnum13hundy/ you can take the whole engine and looms for $200 if you wish, The piston is newish in the engine, if you wish to take the engine PM me. Willdat!/ yes my XL runs, it was only $100 bucks so well worth it, the bike will need wiring at some point, but looks ok as it is. KIRK/ That's not a bad idea at all, I may just do that, its getting a cheap enough engine that's the problem, or any old school motorbike engines would do, only if they are thumpers, there awesome engines.. Cheers guys
  10. Thanks guys your all auctley right, I will wast money rebuilding it, $400 second hand shocks, 2 to 300 rear shock, chain and sprocket kit, foot pegs, the list goes on and on. As is, how much would she be worth? I've still got the old Honda XL125s 6 speed that just needs a new piston and clutch. It would be nice to have a XR250R from around the 80s they just keep going and going. And also a GN250 in need of a new head, bottom end has been rebuilt. Thanks guys bike is up for sail now
  11. Hmmm some how I don't think it will work yet again it may, well I priced a brand new power valve and it's going to cost $550 that's a full set, over priced yes. Just have to wait for my bloody boss to get out of hospital so I can buy these parts.... the bike is a 1990 according to Yamaha in whangerei....
  12. Well the bike needs a New or second hand Power valve, does anyone know where I can get one? and the radiators are not original at all, they were not bolted on to anything, are new radiators available? the good thing is the piston is like new, there are no chunks out of it. now all that is left to do, is take the engine out, strip other parts off and paint the frame.
  13. Relly! Would it be Like 89 or 90s? Going by the ser number it says 1980, but you are right, thanks for that.
  14. the shocks have expanded so much you cant pull them out of the steering bracket, they have started to flake away in large amounts, its like salt water has been on them at some point and not washed off.
  15. Hi all, here is my 1980 Yamaha YZ250, the bike needs a bit of work, I need new front shocks as you can see, tires, plastics, and a few other things, but she drives well, and has plenty of grunt. but I'll re paint the frame, find new shocks if I can, or if anyone has any let me know. The bike has one problem, it sometimes does not go into 5th gear, or 6th. Any advise would be awesome. http://iforce.co.nz/i/pyy5r40x.1mx.jpg
  16. Just pulled all the wiring out so it just has ignition key, CDI, and reflector unit. No lights anymore, so much lighter, soon to have new bars, clutch with heavy duty springs.
  17. here are some pictures getting ready for new piston and rings
  18. Haha only one spear would be mean, the engines are good if they are looked after proply, this one has not been well looked after. But its worth a rebuild, I'm surprised how light these bikes are, it really needs to have extended shocks at the rear though, but that is easy done.
  19. Hi guys I finally got my Honda XL125 6 speed, I'm going to rebuild the engine with, new piston/rings, gaskets, wheen bearings, tires, and make a new exhaust. The bike needs a few more things like cables clutch etc etc. The engine is quite smoke but still runs and drives. Pictures will be up soon
  20. Hi All, I just got this engine today, its all stripped down now and ready for new bearings, bead blasting, and other things. If anyone has any parts for one of these engines please let me know. I'm going to have to build a motorcycle for this engine, What style do you think?? Board track, Bobber, or vintage. Cheers Ev
