  1. Fitted the foot pegs properly. Should look ok on the bike.

Not sure what to do about the fork stanchions. They've got a bit of surface rust forming.

I'm looking at getting some Hagon shocks for the rear. Don't want to put the original back on.

  2. Got the engine In the frame today. Started on the air box too but didn't get a pic of that.

I didn't paint the cylinder head. Looks like oil all over it but it's not. I.Will paint the side cover too I think. Not a fan of the raw alloy look.

I also fitted some smaller alloy foot pegs but due to them not actually being for my bike they don't fold well... And the bracket for the frame has been powder coated so I can't hit it with the grinder for a better fit.

I'll post a pic of them tomorrow.

Still waiting for a few bits and pieces to turn up. Waiting is more painful than pulling teeth.

    Looks good.

Any reason you wouldn't get a frame powder coated again?

    Interested to know.

I feel like a good prime and paint would be as good. Worried about how it's going to look if/when the powder chips.

And you can't do any "touch ups" if something does happen.

  4. I've started reassembly on the bits I can like centre stand. I'll have to strip the rear swing arm and get it powder coated to match frame as it looks shit in comparison.

Done a terrible masking job and sprayed the discolored engine today. Definitely going to paint the rest of the engine silver as oppose to polishing some parts.

Desperate to get shit done before summer is over.

  5. Yep I sent mine to a sandblaster who done a good job. He blasted the alloy top clamp as well. That's the only prep I done, no need to prep for the sand blaster.

Removed the vin label and head tube badge.

I left a bit of foam tape on the battery tray and that didn't come off with the sand so the coaters crudely scraped it off and coated over.

Just make sure you've de tabbed and ground down anything that you want tidied up before sending to the shop.

Always get it zinc dipped if it's steel as well. Prevents rust forming underneath and rust if it chips.

  6. Procoat were good. Neville said they don't do many frames and it kinda shows but they done a good job. Happy with the work.

The only annoying thing is as you can see in the photo things like the clamps weren't don't individually.

$380 for zinc and powder on all my parts and less than a week turnaround.

  7. I got parts back yesterday. Overall happy how they turned out.

Powder covers a lot so very minimal prep is required to make it look ok.

Everything was coated in zinc to prevent rust first.

Not sure if I'd get other frames coated in the future.

I've also ordered heaps of parts from partsfish.

I'll just jump in here as its of interest to me now.

Hey mate have you had any powder coating done?

I was looking at FARRA but I think they may be the ones you don't recommend. Maybe Procoat is the go?
