Yeah I might have to. I was thinking of going usd forks but that's too much effort for me
I don't want to clean rust off this thing for the rest of it's days.
@Snorkpipe is there anywhere in NZ that has/gets them in that you know of?

Got the engine In the frame today. Started on the air box too but didn't get a pic of that.
I didn't paint the cylinder head. Looks like oil all over it but it's not. I.Will paint the side cover too I think. Not a fan of the raw alloy look.
I also fitted some smaller alloy foot pegs but due to them not actually being for my bike they don't fold well... And the bracket for the frame has been powder coated so I can't hit it with the grinder for a better fit.
I'll post a pic of them tomorrow.
Still waiting for a few bits and pieces to turn up. Waiting is more painful than pulling teeth.

That ts is awesome!
Where did you order all your parts for the tt, they arrived quickly!

I'd look at air filter and spark plugs to start with. Make sure the basic stuff is all good.

Looks good.
Any reason you wouldn't get a frame powder coated again?
Interested to know.
I feel like a good prime and paint would be as good. Worried about how it's going to look if/when the powder chips.
And you can't do any "touch ups" if something does happen.

I've started reassembly on the bits I can like centre stand. I'll have to strip the rear swing arm and get it powder coated to match frame as it looks shit in comparison.
Done a terrible masking job and sprayed the discolored engine today. Definitely going to paint the rest of the engine silver as oppose to polishing some parts.
Desperate to get shit done before summer is over.

Nice love a good quick progress build.
I sent a few emails to mikuni oz re carbs and the man there has a wealth of knowledge. Might be worth having a yarn with him about replacements?

No rust is a huge bonus. I'm sure you'll smash it in no time.

2 to choose from in invers.. the one place I rang in dunedin was f## king expensive.
I think I know which that was. Mine was about $100 cheaper than their quote.

Yep I sent mine to a sandblaster who done a good job. He blasted the alloy top clamp as well. That's the only prep I done, no need to prep for the sand blaster.
Removed the vin label and head tube badge.
I left a bit of foam tape on the battery tray and that didn't come off with the sand so the coaters crudely scraped it off and coated over.
Just make sure you've de tabbed and ground down anything that you want tidied up before sending to the shop.
Always get it zinc dipped if it's steel as well. Prevents rust forming underneath and rust if it chips.

Procoat were good. Neville said they don't do many frames and it kinda shows but they done a good job. Happy with the work.
The only annoying thing is as you can see in the photo things like the clamps weren't don't individually.
$380 for zinc and powder on all my parts and less than a week turnaround.

That Kwik Strip card is an awesome example of a time before men had 'man buns' and safe spaces and 'womyn' were offended by men breathing.

I'll just jump in here as its of interest to me now.
Hey mate have you had any powder coating done?
I was looking at FARRA but I think they may be the ones you don't recommend. Maybe Procoat is the go?
