  1. Officially for sale will be listing on Trademe etc soon. somebody gentle buy her... she needs lovin'
  2. Long time since an update.. The wheels are done, the color came out really good so all is good! so it's now low on wheels and smiles are to be had. I got bored with it however and attempted to run GSXR1100 carbs on it. Had it all on and running but my circumstances made tuning a real pain, so for now it's back to standard carb. here's a few snips of where its at/been! Sadly i'm going to have to sell the car soon, so if you're keen or know someone, message me. Want it to go to a good home :'(
  3. To be honest, I have no idea. I've had nothing to do with any old Toyota engines until this one. I'm just going to change the carb at this stage, more for the wank factor/noise haha.
  4. Sweet! so the SSR's are getting dropped off to a mate who will chuck em on a lathe to polish up. Need to find some good looking valves now. Then the next on the 'to do' list is spruce up the old 18r's breathing/fueling apparatus a little....
  5. I'm back.. finally got my ass into gear and did some work prompted by the oldschool Hamilton meet! Suspension is done and in, and its just a matter of polishing up me wheels and i'm away laughing. here's the finished adjusties and in the car.. And then there's these, which need bigger lips but i'm a poor ass so no herrafrush for me... Pretty excited to have this thing moving along now, more to come! chur!
  6. Hey Igor, they sure are a good looking car I reckon. Under powered, you're not wrong there haha. I toyed with the idea of a 1jzgte in there or a 1uz but decided against it in favor of keeping it relatively stock. Low and slow will get the job done
  7. Soooo it's been a fair while since I've got my lazy ass to update this. Progress has been slow since I bought a stupid civic that needed work (never again) Started hacking up the front struts, bought a few suspension components and had a go at polishing... Cut/beat the spring platform off Had a play with all these bits and pieces (I'm making two pairs up, cressida fronts and mirage rears) Also made this neat invention... pogo shoes... Anyways back to the automobile related shizznit, the height with rear setup put in That's about it in the way of suspension, am currently trying to find a set of GT4 shocks/inserts and do the mod that Seedy Al linked me to (cheers heaps!) Other exciting news includes getting two flat tyres and having to go hood jacked with a wheel stolen off my mirage which motivated my ass to get some tires and start polishing (didn't come out all that great, looks like the wheels have seen a bit of gravel and has a few scars) That's it for now, more progress to follow soon!
  8. Been a rather long time since doing anything on the cressy other than getting it buffed/making it shiny And now these bad boys have turned up! back combo is fine, front needs work. Springs are cut and still not low enough so chop chop and modify I think. Merry Christmas everyone!!!
  9. About time for an update Couldn't wait to have the wheels cleaned up so on they go. Picked up a set of shank nuts and lock nuts from Auto trail I'm digging the simplistic oldschool look, although I will lower it a bit and space the wheels. PROGRESS!
  10. Cheers man! can't wait to get them looking all spiffing and on
  11. New Shoes for the old girl, just need a refurb. Also getting some squat going on soon. Fun update, Oh nearly overheated going up the Bombay hills, turns out a standard thermostat after 33 odd years gets a bit of arthritis or something and doesn't want to move anymore, fair enough though. I'd be the same. Anywho, that's what's up for now
  12. Sooooo... Unpolished/as is vs ... Polished/happy face Hope to get the whole car done sooon as. Also mesh over grills, cause oldschool
  13. All back together! then realize you don't have enough oil... Off to superheap auto tomorrow to get my Indian discount oil then away we go!
  14. Got the bearing and retainer! now can get the ball rolling. Plan is to put the rear back together, measure up what room I've got for wheels, get the car buffed/polished and might need to get a new boot seal. Exciting stuff!
  15. THAT'S SICK! Love it man! very nicely done
  16. After many phone calls with Toyota I may finally get my bearing with retainer tomorrow.. nothing else to report on. Lame.
  17. Awesome! I didn't think of shortening the strut body (i'm used to throw away strut setups and threading the shock shaft to drop the top hat lower etc) Think ill give this a go, will find another pair of struts though. Possibly re-weld the the spring platform and use shorter/lowering springs of the same diameter to avoid cert/legal crap. Has anyone done it that way before? Cheers for the comments I'm pretty stoked with the score, would love a 2 door though! this will do me for now haha
  18. Cheers for the tips I unfortunately don't have a chest freezer.. but I do have freeze off spray which I hope will get the axle cold and have a mapp gas torch, so hopefully that will work
  19. That look's sweet! How did you shorten the shocks? I've done some before where I ran a button die down the shaft further and welded the bump stop backing washer down lower. Is it similar on these shocks? I have that same pic of the cream one too, love it haha. Oh wicked, it's 99.9% rust free, and some paint came with it but it's pretty old/probably no good now, ill keep that in mind, thanks heaps!
  20. Ordered in a new wheel bearing, came as a kit with the retainer so stoked about that. Diff is now back in. Never again will I put a diff back in with the car barely off the damp grass, in the dark haha. But it's in, hopefully sealed cause I couldn't see much. Got the grinder out and ground the bearing retainer down and got that off. Pick up bearing kit tomorrow and on it all goes. At least I'd like it to go that way...
  21. It has a bit of a rumble up around 50km/h and I couldn't work out whether it was in the diff or wheel bearing. Diff oil was fresh but out it all came for inspection Turned out the diff is still good, which i'm happy about. The drivers side wheel bearing is flogged though, so Toyota will get a call from me. Hope they have the retainers...
  22. Thanks for that i'll have a good read through
