  1. Hi guys I started looking into getting my diff shortened .. need it shortened 30 mm each side letting me fit my 9" rear wheels inside factory wheel arches without the need to modify.. Now 25mm would prob do it n roll guards .. I spoke to "diffs r us" in Otahuhu he said something along the lines off diff is too small if he cut that off each end it woulf cut most of spline out and would cause me problems in future broken axles etc.. He said he can do it but wouldn't guarantee his work n if some ting went wrong in future it wouldn't be his problem lol ... not keen on forking out 1000 for him to shorten it n crap out. Now I do have 2x rt104 diffs how hard would it be to tackle on my own or is anyone keen on helping / doing it Cheers
  2. Sealed up one of the fronts test fit it on my mates ke36 . No leaks so far .
  3. Got the tyres on went with tubes 13" motivation is high !
  4. Haha yeah I sort of figured it would but just thought I'd ask . Sealing up the fronts tonight n ill take to get front tyres put on 2m .. Cheers bro yeah from what they were what a difference. If anyones interested this is how I got them to this . they were orginally leaking so thought fuck it I'll get em all cleaned up while they are a part . Rears were tigged onto the Centre So sent them away to get chemically dipped then acid dipped so they return back to what you'd call a "mill" finish. Powerstrip industries limited in penrose are awesome for this they have like a KFC chemical dip that doesn't damage any chrome or nickel so would be perfect for stripping back old panels with chrome on em etc and also doesn't distort or damage the steel either so pretty good.. Got em back looking like this. Also git my bonnet hinges and radiator surround dipped n rust protected ready for a coat of primer. Was 30 bucks per rim and $10 bucks per kg to get anything chemically dipped n acid. From there they went to Dropped em off to braids n Whyte very reasonable priced . 40 bucks per rim to go metallic gun metal grey . 20 bucks per application so 20 for the grey powdercoating and 20 bucks for a crystal clear coat over top 3 day turn around. Came back mint. The lips were being polished at the time by progressive electro players n polishers in new lyn .. I took em the rears to remove the powdercoating n polish the outside lips as you'll see em with the tyres I'm using . Rear wheels Fronts
  5. Update . Cheers all for info . Im not sure why my mind didn't think of lube but it didn't .. Anyway it worked well. I had to pump up to 44 psi which was tyre max psi to get it to move . Here's some pics . I do have 4 orginal ssr superstars Centre caps but will be getting 4 new centre's painted to suit with new stickers . ... now that being said I've checked the gaps for consistency and all are ok but one. The inside lip one the tyre almost isn't sitting square well atleast the tyre is on the piss by about 10 mm to the lip here's some pics to explain more. Will this pop itself over 10mm when on car or should I deflate lube up that side then pump back up ? See the gap here is 10mm different with the tyre spun 180° Here's rubber almost touching this is the same for the others . What do u guys reckon ?
  6. Oh yup all good . I'll take em to work tomorrow n let some lube sit in there for an hour or so then pump up .
  7. Yeah I got some good medlube in the van damn why didn't I think of lube lol I did telcom powder the rim tho n tire Edit: these tyres were on these rims so I no they fit .. but had a leak so got em stripped dipped powdercoated n lips polished but running tubes now
  8. Yeah I'll take em to work get em hot In van n hopefully not to much mish getting off bead I do have a long crowbar .. n lube em up good n try again on way home 2m night thabks for help will update 2m
  9. Yeah tyres are 185/55 and on a 9j ..where you see them is as high as they went .. tyres are brand new sticker still on exterior
  10. I brought 3 tubes theres no max rating on them but tyre max is 44 psi ... Maybe I should of used lube that's prob the problem . dunno how I'm gna squeeze lube into the gap since tyre is pretty tight to wheel now
  11. I pumped one up to 40 psi but didn't move much
  12. No bead lube :/ would any type of lube be suitable ? I've got some drainage lube in van for pvc pipes pretty good shit.. should of lubed it up .. tire seems pretty firm
  13. Yup didn't use too much got em all together n pumped them up to 35 psi then de flatted again .. I thought pumping em up would stretch tire on to bead .. but it didn't lol . What's the procedure in popping onto bead using hairspray or lynx ?? Deflatte tire n spray lynx in around tire n set alight then pump up tire ? This is how they sit.
  14. I've sourced some 13" widespread tyre tubes for my 185/55/r14 on my 9" bbs superstars .. mega tyres in browns bay do em for 15.50 each anyone delt with them ? They don't do heavy duty just standard duty . Will shitloads of tel powder will these be suitable ? Just had lips polished n centre's powder coated not keen on mish of splitting/re sealing them every time I need too. Hence the reason for tubes Any help greatly appreciated Cheers
  15. ^^ this . would a inner tube work ?im using185/55/r14 on my 9" wheels ..
  16. On that note I am a plumber I have plenty of silicone . Got the best clear MS silicone in the van that u can buy .. will it be ok ? My point being my rear wheels are made out of 2x rear lips each so if they leak I gotta get a crowbar n cut the silicone out n repeat which is a little mish which if I can avoid will be helpful
  17. Hi guys Bringing up an old thread I'm sealing my wheels I'm at repco n only stuff I can fin is a selleys instant gasket stops leaks n is for high pressure seal like exhaust or head gaskets .. it's white with blue writing product comes out black..
  18. Couple weeks ago I decided to get my wheels tidied up .. got em back yesterday really happy with how they are now to seal em up n chuck em on car .. Tires being used r 185/55/r14 .. thinking of increasing rears to 205/55 or something of similiar for something decent.. 9" rim Here's some wheel porn here's what they orginally looked like Got wheels taken off bead.. Tires r a good fit lol centre's were tigged to the rear lips had em chemically dipped n acid dipped to clean em all up Even took radiator surround and bonnet hinges to be dipped. Centre's went off to powdercoaters . Used Brian n Whyte in kingsland nice guys and really well priced . 40 bucks per rim to go metallic gun metal grey and then clearcoated. Front bands I took to progressive electroplaters n polishers in new lynn travis is the guy to see he's awesome. Here's finished product . What a difference the bands are they are like mirrors now. Thanks for looking
  19. Hi guys maybe a silly question but I'll ask anyway... I just had my centre's chemically dipped n acid dipped to get em gleaming n back to alloy . I don't wanna paint em I wanna run alloy The question I got is do I need to protect the centre's or is running as is ok ? I've had mixed feedback some say they be ok others say clear coat em n some say powder coat em in a alloy silver colour I jus wanna no before I seal em up n slap tires back on .. don't wanna split em again Thanks all . Peace
  20. Or even better borrow the tool or pay the 30 bucks per arch n get it done propley

  23. Hey guys been pretty busy over last couple days have finished the remaining rust patches which r behind the front 2 guards ! Here's some pics CT rust converter followed by epoxy primer. Drivers side Ok so Ive welded everything up shell is now rust free as far as I no ... will finish pulling engine shit out 2m n start prepping that . Paint has alot of chips so will start sanding it all back might even have a crack at bogging some of the easy / more unseen bits lol .. Have also split my rims to take the centre's to get acid dipped ... Discussion thread here //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/42444-matteybeans-1978-rt104-corona/?fromsearch=1
