nothing has happened on this just taken some more photos and been searching the net for parts like a tail gate and window. along with few other random peaces.
oh also im the 3rd owner of this ap5 valiant along with my sedan ap5. this one was brought in Australia and imported with them when they came to NZ. It was then sold 18 years ago to the guy i brought it off who then started to pull it apart about 12 months ago thought it was to much work for him and he brought another valiant and then he needed to sell it. TO ME
if any one on here knows of ap5/6/vc safari parts be helpful to know as some hard parts to find. thanks heaps

Cool bro, sounds good. Nothing wrong with the slant though, I would stick with that for a bit. You know a 300c engine swap would be the bomb but it would cost so much to do so!
I am in Melbourne, seen a couple of really early ap5 wagons around this summer, the ones with small round tail lights. Mega rare! I nearly bought a mint ap5 wagon for $1200 when I first moved here, kinda wished I did now, it was factory avocado green and looked cool sitting on wide wheels but was a full base model spec, no heater, drums, 3 on the tree etc.
Looking forward to see what you do with this one though. Oh, If you need any panel repair sections, try craig vane rustaproblem, although shipping might be the deal breaker from queensland.
Yea I will probably end up just slamming it out and widening the steelies and roll it as it is. I'd rather put my money into my sedan and get the other engine in that.
And thanks for that I will have a look at Craig vane tonight see what will make my life easier.
The wagon you saw when you 1st got to aus sounds amazing. Sound have brought it!!

Hey Matt It got dark before I could get a good photo so il get one tonight for you.
Also it has been my dream to own a wagon and sedan ap5 I've finally got it. Don't know to paint it green and white to suite my sedan as well. Maybe one day I will

make chit chat about my wags here hopefully i will have some updates on it sooner than latter
-
Excellent! Having two old cars makes perfect sense, Trust me I know! Love the old Val wag's, they are quite rare in NZ these days.
What are the plans for the wagon?
the plans for the wagon is do as little as possible and get it on the road sooner better than latter.
will eventually slam it out and use it for my tow wagon/daily.
my mate wants me to bag it and put a modern hemi v8 in it maybe out of a 300c or somthing.
they are becoming rarer and rarer and i was close to buying one in aus and sending it back here but lucky came across this
I spy with my little eye a piece of my car on your bench lol
that would be true i need to make a move on them now that its a tight squeeze in the shed now haha

so i managed to find myself two weeks ago checking my messages from a mate to find him sending me a trade me link of an ap5 safari in wanaka.
about 3 phone calls later and yup it was mine.
he got it running for me so i wouldnt have to pay moon beams in freight so a week goes buy and on the transporter it goes.
few more days and WABAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its now in my garage. along side of my sedan!!!
1st things 1st here are some pictures of it
so i think the foot brake doesnt work but the hand brake is very good
under the hood is a bit of a mess
there is also a bit of bog in the tail gate
the spear wheel well had a bit of rust as well
and some rust else where
and yeah my mum and partner didnt think i would fit them both in the garage.
it was a tight fit but they are in there and i cant get to my room or up stairs any more haha my bad
thats it for now im sure il find more and il see you on the chit chat side of this latter- 24

I'm very excited as well about these carbs. I have a swap job on the go to go with completeting my engine which is a huge bonus but the hole engine swap might have a little delay on it now as I may have purchased another ap5 valiant. But hey they are getting closer so that's the main thing

so yeah beach hop is around the corner so i thought ild get a few things fixed and what not so i thought il replace my exhaust by putting a straight pipe in HAHAHAHAHAHA that was extremely loud!!
this is my old one
so yup brought a muffler and got my mate to weld that in. this is what the inside of that looks like.
it now sounds a hell of a lot better and seems to go a little better to.
while i had my globs on i also got my other rims painted and polished them all up make them look spiffy. here is basically a before and after
also i cleaned the white writing with some jiff and water. here is the difference in them
i also dropped my head off to my mate to assemble. which he showed me my triple carbs with new linkages made up and working just minus one clip so i found on of them and shot back next day to find my head assembled and him waiting on my for my block. here is a photo of the head and carbs
i think thats it for now.

so nothing new on the valiant other than went for a random ass road trip to palmy north and back.
stopped in at taupo to catch a ride with miniman76 in his race car. what a thrill!!!
so after putting a new axle in the mini i thought i better give the valiant an oil change since it was well over due. out to the pits and jacked it up and a quick oil change was done the valiant sounds so much nicer for the oil change.
also had a huge amount of guard rub on my right side so managed to borrow a HUGE bar from a socket set and threw 3 people in the back and a quick roll forwards and back and wabam we had heaps of clearance!!! we had maybe 5 more scrapes the hole trip. success
motored down to palmy got on the turps a bit and watched che che and chong. next morning was all go, 1st stop was this beautiful picture with the havilland vampire
next stop was another plane picture with the DC3
3rd stop was with the bloody gumboot
4th stop was at the army base and had to get a photo of the valitank next to a tank. (p.s i cant park while trying to drink a energy drink)
5th stop was at the bloody carrot
6th stop was the snow. check out our ugly mutts out. haha. got to go play in the snow though.
7th stop was at horopito motors for a quick look and a check to see why i was losing my brake peddle :/
and there we have it. 1000kms latter. about $300 worth of gas. one dead sparrow stuck in my grill (we named him fred) and my brakes disappearing we have our self a wicked road trip.
list of things to do is get a rego and find out where my brake peddle was disappearing to.....
hope you enjoy
