DKM fabrication do some serious swaps and can organize a cert' too. But if you get really 'involved' builds with exotic parts the price can go up steeply.

Weirdly, i find petrol and a stiff brush will work wonders. Vapor blasting looks nice but i've never had it done myself.

Some years ago I found a four cylinder Ford manifold with a Holley carb on it lying in the grass behind one of my sheds. Looks like it's off a T or an A. Don't know enough about them to pick the differences. No idea if it has any usable parts left on it but if it's any use to you you're welcome to have it.
NH holly is T.
The A often have a different carb', tillerston X is the aftermarket ones, that aren't as good at the updraft zenith

"Straight through" Holley NH carb's share many parts with the economy version carb'. Same basic thing, but the economy version had more restriction.
I'd be tempted to smooth the venturi a little, as it has a rough finish, but don't want to mess it up. I'll choose to believe that rust pitting help the mixture.
So i filled in some pitting around the rim of the bowl seal with an epoxy.
Used white metal normally used for engine bearings to build up work throttle shafts.
Drilled small holes in the broken castings and poured white metal into them to build up the areas where casting had broken off.
Built up the worn nut with more white metal.
First i tried to replace the bronze throttle link with chunks cut from a worn bronze bushing, that turned out to be fragile.
So i riveted and soldered, with more white metal (more resilient to vibration than solder due to no lead content) copper strips.
I choose to believe i have improved this carb's condition compared to when i found it.- 13

I've done wood frames before.
If you take your time, you may not need to bend timber much if at all. But be prepared to spend some time getting the fit correct. -
I know a roadpacer, i've seen one, only one.
But it seems wrong.- 1

Something about a 20B in an HQ seems wrong..

I love datsun engines. I'm not 100% sure i'd be useful to you though.

Remember all the contaminates in the oil have probably settled at the bottom. May want to remove the sump & clean it (pretty sure you can on those engines?)
I thought the oil in an engine looked great, but it was acidic, so acidic i found the big-end bearings in the bottom. Dissolved to a fine powder.- 2

1.5 Ohms was for points with ballast wasn't it?

I thought it was one of those early pulsars.

Ive seen people fitting honda K24 motors but they're weird & lots of mucking around for no real gain.

I was offered an RX8 motor with like, 90,000km on it for 1,200. From a wrecker. If you can find one, swap it in & drive happy.

No, you just take off the high spots. Fix the grinder to wood jig or something, not by hand.

I've wondered has anyone tried the "spin the disk while running a grinder with sanding pad against the disk' method. It's shit but for a crap daily might be ok?

I have some headlights for one of those. Or the donor, i can't remember.

why are you still dicking around with this? just buy a speeduino board, and start writing code... those ignition drivers all work etc as well as give you lots of other inputs you're going to need...
or you doing it purely as an exercise on how to drive coils/learn something? I dont understand why you are using a fet to drive an IGBT to drive a coil, when you can just use a fet to drive the coil
Doing it to prove i can.
And i've driven the coils from mosfets many times & burnt up every one of them.- 1

Would you be better off purging the tube with an inert gas before pinching off?
I was thinking flush with argon at atmo' pressure, then vacuum out what i can. And i have 2 special 'getter' materials that's needed for this application.
-
Tried your diagram above with the stock coils and it's only producing sparks if i have the stock points attached.
Produces spark with the points replaced by the mosfet or IGBT if i don't use the diagram above. -

Possibly, what does that involve? Just putting them in vacuum pot for a while then back into atmo?
I live in Morrinsville now but if you post them down or drop them to my Dads place in Glendene I can give it a go.If i put in a one way valve that might work for a while.
I was thinking of making a glass tube with metal contacts in it. A long tube to suck out the air, and when it's done you heat & pinch off the tube. Much how nixie tubes are made. -

I've heard sandbagging works well but havent tried it.
Re: Vac pump I just recently bought this and this:

So far so good, pulls vacuum right down to zero on the gauge when you've got a good bag seal. If I leave the pot shut off it'll hold a vacuum overnight at same place on the gauge.
I bought the pot as well, because I use it as a catch can for any epoxy that might zing up the pipe to stop it from stuffing the pump.
Just have a second pipe on it instead of that filter.
But also good for degassing epoxy or rubber or whatever else for other projects. And having the large volume means if you've got a tiny leak you dont lose overall pressure as quickly.
The only catch was that it doesnt come with vacuum pump oil, and you need special oil that doesnt evaporate when the pressure gets really low.
I think it's flammable or something like that so they cant ship it internationally.
Can get it from Repco though so no dramas.
I've still got a love/hate with vac bagging though. Can be very fiddly. If my glass blowing is successful would you be able to de-gas some tubes for me?

You're not putting the air bleeder on the caliper at the bottom are you? A mechanic did that & spent months trying to get the air out. I swapped the calipers over, left to right. Fixed.

By the coil "blew" i guess you don't mean like this.

If you get stuck for carbs i have random ones you could pick through.

The few times i tried this, inter-granular corrosion became a horrific issue.
