Hey guys, looking for some advice.
I'm now looking to retro fit an aftermarket Civic radiator into my mirage as I'm struggling to find a second hand unit and recore looks to be a hefty cost now (no way near as cheap as it used to be). I'm a bit of a tight ass at times and only want to spend half of what a recore will cost if I can so I'm working out a plan.
The idea is to get a cheap aftermarket alloy Civic radiator 'half rad', make some mounts to fit and make up some new hoses. The main issue I'm running into is how to go about setting up a thermo fan. The Civic radiator doesn't include a thermo switch mount so I was thinking to use one of the hose inline switch/sensor mounts but I'm struggling to find one locally. Another thing is would I need to run a new circuit/relay for the fan or would I be sweet to just tap into the existing circuit and get away with it? If need be I can follow the wires and see the relay setup that they run through from factory.
If anyone has any suggestions on the best and easiest way to do this then please let me know.
Cheers,
Tai
Is the civic rad aluminium? Get a boss welded on to screw in the original thermo switch

They may be knock offs, I seem to remember seeing them available on tm a few years back

Just buy a bf or later xr6 turbo and be done with it. They are not that heavy, have plenty of power and most importantly get a wheel going with ease

4mm mild steel.
Though they did them out of G350 by accident. So that may or may not suck. Hopefully they can replace them with mildsteel.
Whats wrong with using 350 as opposed to 250?

ef and el xr6/8 falcons are starting to go up in price pretty quick now. Would like to buy a nice el before they go silly in price

I'd avoid water blasting stuff. It just makes it really wet and take ages to dry, just use a shampoo machine

It's rank when you get a fresh import and the previous owner has smoked a pack a day with the windows up and the ac on recirculating. Mix up a strong ratio of the shampoo in a spray bottle and spray it on the hood lining and watch all the yellow brown nicotine come out
-
When I was detailing cars that had been smoked in if just shampoo the seats and hood lining, clean all the ash trays out and leave it out in the sun to dry out. I used 3d shampoo, worked pretty good for getting odours out

I have a mate who is a plater and he’s mentioned stripping chrome off, will ask, but a quick google search suggests hydrochloride acid or sodium hydroxide.

choice, hopefully this will give a higher compression ratio too.
Now to spend more than the bike is worth getting the cam welded up and re ground

Do you want to put it on a dr200 bottom.end?
I'll have a closer look
Na in a honda, probably easier to rebush my small end.
Are you able to measure the compression height?
-
Yea a standard one, do you reckon the gudgeon pin bore could be enlarged to 15mm?
Raizer is losing the plot with Scooters!
