  1. can i legally transfer a plate from one car to another? like a P Plate?

i have a rego on hold from a fairmont i bought which is a really nice 4 letter rego, and on black and silver plates. can i transfer this to my ute as i would a P Plate?

both are in my name, the 4 letter rego is on hold and the ute is my daily, and currently rego'd and wof

i know the plates and tags thingy thingy yeah yeah, but i am not going down that route. especially now i've posted it on a public forum! haha. it'd just be nice to keep that rego.

You could do it by getting your current ones made into a personalised plate and then put the black and silver ones on

  2. Wow you got dicked. I sell quite a outboards and holy fuck people are dumb as fuck. Sold a mint little 9.9hp johnson, huy rings up the next weekend and says that its stopped so he brings it back. I take off the cowling and can see its been cooked. Drop off the gearbox in front of him and the impeller is gone. Asked him if he ran it dry which he admitted to. Sold him another one for even more tho so i didn't mind but shows how easily retards can fuck them and blame you

  3. wow i honestly didn't realise this was such a big thing. I'm shocked reading all this information. Considering drink driving is a slap on the wrist here i can't believe that doing a burnout outside your mates house can get your license revoked instantly. thats just nuts.

Its because of all the dick heads who think its ok to smokr it up in a residential area. They can also lose the car like this guy

  4. If you're gonna be moving a car aaround town or country often dont bother towing.

Get an old f350 LWB or chev C30 LWB throw a beaver tail (banana back or what ever you want to call it) and away ya go. No trailer sway.

Mines a '85 LWB f350 on straight lpg 460ci and has a th700 auto for easy cruising.

Has air cond power steer and iv setup for either bench seat or rip it out and chuck 2 xr6 bucket seats in with a waeco fridge between them.

Also got an 80ch cb for the highway and all the trucks

Doesn't eeven know it has a car on the back. And overtaking is a breeze. (So is speeding so watch the right boot lol)

How many L/100km does it use on lpg?

  5. Oh yeah the comment I made about the 4M40 equipped LWB Pajeros is equally directed at the Bighorns.

They both have coil sprung rear ends not suited to frequent heavy towing.

Tow once in a while and they're fine.

As Cam suggested load helpers will improve this but they're more of a lifestyle vehicle than an all out tow wagon.

There is nothing wrong with coil springs. You shouldn't have more than 50kg tongue load on a correctly loaded trailer

  6. If you are looking at a diesel disco or rrc the 300tdi is a bit nicer than the 200tdi. Also has a different gearbox which is also nicer. Although there is nothing wrong with the 200tdi. As mentioned before avoid the diesel p38 range rover as it uses the bmw m51 diesel and is a bit light duty and a tendency to crack heads due to indirect injection.

  7. Ive got a disco 300tdi manual for daily driving and towing, its done over 400,000km. Maintenence is cheap. It pulls well with an increase in fuel and boost. Its direct injection so starts first wind and is cheap to run. Last towing trip it avg 10l/100km. It seats 7 easily and has good offroad capability.

The 2.8 isuzu 4jb1t is a good engine. Direct injection and solid build. just that the bighorn isn't that nice to drive. Its quite small and cramped and doesn't ride very nice. The later 3.1 bighorn drives nicer but i dont like the 4jg2 engine.

  8. VQ+T all day.

Steal the motor out of Fletchs maxima.

I wouldn't touch an euro engine.

I was at a mates workshop today. 06 m spec with a blown clutch. Replacement parts are $5k. Fuck that all day.

Lol ok then i wont touch any jappa after seeing the cost of a trans rebuild for a gtr

  9. The thought had crossed my mind. My zeds got an rb30 in it at the moment and can only just shut the bonnet so theres about 0 chance of getting a ford 6 in there. Was surprised how small the rods are in the ford engine. If you look at engine in the link above theres a mangled rod sitting on top that it spat out the bottom of the sump. Think its outa the earlier 240kw turbo ba falcon

You need a vw vr6. Available in 3.6l and are the same length as a 4cyl. A mate is in the process of fitting one to his 260z

  10. One of the main reasons is slower acceleration of the piston at TDC and bdc.

For backyard cowboys like us it means you can use a cheaper piston and rod due to lower stresses.

I read somewhere that the screaming v10 f1 motors had to run a real long rod as at 20k rpm the piston would out accelerate the flame front at the point of ignition and lose torque!

Longer stroke equals higher piston speed for a given rpm
