I had a imax as a work vehicle, I didn't like it at all, try and accelerate even slightly and the trans would just chop down and rev right out, seating position wasn't very comfortable, it used a lot of oil, door lock actuator crapped out at 20,000km, brake rotors warped, tail gate didn't open high enough even for me (1.8m tall). Did alright one wheelers in the wet though

Grab a pair of 1.5L aluminium fuel bottles like the ones I have on the advgn
That's another 1/3 range. Which puts you at around my gns range, which is always enough to get to a servo
Where did you get them from? Long range tanks are pretty expensive
-
I could probably get it bit better by not nanging it every where. Need to put a tacho on it and see what revs it's pulling at 100k as it can easily accelerate in 6th from 70k

Measured the fuel economy of the xr250. 100% road riding to and from work 18km each way. used 7.5l to do 180km giving 4.2l/100km. Dont know if thats good or bad but still not enough range from the 9l tank for adv rides

Im a fan of vw's but even a good one requires a fair bit of upkeep and plugging in to a laptop periodically. Buy a jag with a chev transplant already done and bang a blower on it that way everyone will know the cheese is starting to slide off your cracker.
Its just the r32 are pretty lame, heavy and not even fast, a remapped gti is faster and a lot more fun to drive. Turbo r32 is a different story

What's the go to for painting suspension parts, diffs ect? Its only for a 4wd but I've got everything apart so thought I'd give a clean up and a blackening
-
That ones done over 300k, a mate had one with almost 400k on it
-
A mercedes sprinter or vw crafter would be alright, certainly a lot nicer to drive than a truck and will be cheaper to run as well

insurance covered their bikes even if on hold. But thinking about it - it was probably just if they were stolen from home and not to do with accidents etc
Having no rego/on hold doesn't make any difference for insurance

You could have an og ct for each day of the week for the price of that. efi, abs, disc brakes is just unnecessarily adding to the cost of it

I will see how it looks after 1600km. I've only just got it and just did it so I new it was done.
Need to find a cheaper source for the filter as I paid $18 for a genuine Honda one today, oil was $68 for 4l
-
Thoughts on oil change intervals.
For the xr250 honda says to change oil and filter every 1600km. Reckon I could stretch it out a bit as I ride it pretty easy

What is the expected life span of a gn125?
My xr has done 14,000km over 20 years
-
I need to invest in a boomer adv spec gps for the xr. Went to pest some paper roads that ran through a land corp farm but the phone lost reception and wasn't very accurate and I didn't want to get lost out there so had to turn around and go back

It’s a pretty big job and proper wrap is pretty pricey.
Make sure you use actual vehicle wrap as it makes the job a hundred times easier. Regular vinyl will turn into a bubbly, wrinkly mess.
Do you guys sell the vinyl?
-
yea I would just flatten the whole thing off with 800 first
