This one is built into the engine ecu but I didn’t realise the Pajero etc had them, will see what I can find. I’d been looking under 30-40le as well

I would have thought the non ecu controlled 1kz would of had a separate tcm, I know fuck all about toyotas though.

Although they are essentially the same trans there are a few variations of the valve body, need to make sure that yours has the same number of solenoids as the tcm you are going to use. If you already have the toyota one id just use that

  2. My brother had a wagon when we were younger, it rode on the bumps and had widened steelies, they are pretty ugly and slow as fuck, not many of them around probably for a good reason. I put it sideways over a traffic island and rolled it one night

Dont those V8 audis have the timing chains on the back of the motor too?  They're a 100,000km part. And the motor and box has to.come.out to change them. Plus the part cost moonbeams.

They do have the timing chain at the back of the engine but the b7 doesnt suffer like the b6 s4 did. Pulling the engine out of them is easy and doesnt actually take that long, parts are not that expensive either, I just borrow the factory audi timing tools from the local dealer for a box

People love them right up to the minute that they go in for the first service. A guy I used to work with was going to import one from the UK, they were dirt cheap, until he realised what the service costs looked like. Nothing like stuffing a OHC V8 with a couple of turbos into a small car to make doing anything more that topping up the oil a nightmare.

PS if I had shit loads of money to throw away I would have one.

RS4 v8 is na, basic servicing is easy on them but they do have some expensive parts like brakes, dcc shocks and clutch

  5. I spent a fair bit of time looking at manual boxes to use behind a mercedes v8. Ended up on deciding to use a t56 for the following reasons

    Removable bellhousing

    Very strong,

Double over drive giving nice cruise rpms

    Easy clutch options,

Pretty easy to pick up secondhand or spend the money and buy a brand new one

Other factory boxes that are strong are the ones behind the v6 nissan 350z ect and a bmw GS6-53

Not really a car but the mid 90s Mitsi Express vans have a cable shift 5 speed that would suit a RWD setup.

Yea I just remembered I have a manual l300 in the shed. Need nice thin flexi cables as its for this isuzu truck gearbox going into my Land Rover and the shifter will be right above it

Ive changed out the high/low range (front lever) selector for a discovery 2 cable one
