  1. Been for a quick spin around the block and there are satisfying burning smells going on. Yet to tell if there is any cabin difference. It'd be inderesting to see the temperature difference (if any) with the wrap. Its still to hot to touch - well I can get my hand closer with the wrap compared to the bare steel

  2. I chipped all the cracked sealant out of the gutter/drip rail then slapped some beige hamemrite on it. it looks less bad now. Finished off the sound deadening on the passengers side. I thought I've have a hoon at wrapping the exhaust. Turned out pretty good, I'll go for a drive tomorrow and see if its cooler inside

  3. our dollar is bad at the moment for buying stuff.

Does anyone have recommendations for underbody heat shielding etc? The cab is (and always has) got bloody hot after driving. I there is a difference with the sound deadening i have put in but not quite enough. Will getting wrapping the exhaust where it goes under the cab make a difference?

  4. Mine too funnily enough. I'l like a fleet side apache one day too.

AS you can see in the pics the steering wheel is pretty cracked. I thought maybe I could get a clear epoxy or something to fill in the cracks and still look cool/broken. Does anyone have suggestions on a suitable product? I've had a look at some on the tard but they want molds and i'm not skilled/patient enough for that

  5. Drivers side is nearly done with the sound deadening. I'll clean up the rust spots and paint them then finish it off.

MY genuine Mexican Mexican blankets arrived today, Will get the mrs to sew them into a cover as the vinyl is cracked and held together by duct tape

  6. I have start to sound deaden/heat shield the firewall and floor. While doing the engine bay side I bumped on the booster vacuum hose and it snapped off. I tried to fish the snapped piece out but it fell into the booster. Hopefully It doesn't fuck it.

Luckily the valve on the hq wagon was the same so I stole it and its working again.

The carpet was rank so It got ripped out and I've started doing the floor.

Got distracted and put some led strip in the interior light so that works now too.

There are a couple of rust spots starting where the screen leaks and the water has been sitting under the carpet

  7. The exhaust started leaking again, the nuts holding the flange onto the manifold have disappeared.

The tip is on and it (was before the nuts fell off) way less drony compared to the pipe finishing under the tray

Starter is all fuxed now and at exactly the amount I wanted to spend.

I pulled it out and stuck it in the vice. First think I saw was a missing screw in the solenoid cap. I pulled the end cap off as I suspected the brushes were gone due to the oil leaks but they were good. Pulled the solenoid out and apart and the problem was obvious the contact had arced out. I spun it 180 and its good as new. It was interesting that there was no oil or grease in any of the moving parts of the starter. I took out the coil connection of the starter as its not needed with the HEI dizzy. I ran a new wire with a bullet terminal as its difficult to get the wire on and tight in the car.

  8. The exhaust tip/piping is sorted thanks to Jason.

He also Adjusted up the drums as I am useless/cant.

I suspect the starter has finally died on, It never likes hot starting and now it wont at all. I'll test all the wiring tomorrow then rip it out and see whats toast

  9. I was rummaging around dads shed and found some old nixie tubes he had found when he was my age.

I thought i'd like to make a clock so found a kit, got side tracked and ordered more nixi stuff.

The kit arrived just before Christmas so I have been working on it when I'm motivated enough.

When I was trying to find info on the hitachi nixies of dads (still can't) I found this site http://www.gstube.com/ and they had a interesting looking display so I ordered it, It arrived today finally.

    circuit board and stuff

  10. Its been nearly 6 months and all I have done in this is burn oil, gas and get a wof.

Who is good with drum brakes? This has shitloads of pedal travel before some slowing happens. I adjusted them a while ago but can't have a look at them myself at the moment as I have injured wrists. (Yes both of them) Solo sex injury gone very wrong.

    Edit for more info

This has drums all round, Looks like the master cylinder has been replaced at some point. Ultimately I'll be getting drop spindles or at the very least disc spindles for this
