It's the intake valve for sure, didn't have any diesel handy so put some oil in the port when I was Fucking around with the lifters. I was hoping the lifters had pumped up or been full of schmutz and holding the valve open a bit but no That's after about 30 mins -

It's survived running for 3 hours so I pronounce good enough to daily in traffic. Mrs said it goes hard for what it is now so that's a seal of approval -

Reassembled it Same deal Probably has been the low power issue the whole time. Put the intake manifold back on and took it for a drive Now I know number 1 intake valve isn't sealing and probably wasn't the whole time I can ignore it and keep driving it until I can be bothered to pull the head -

No1 glow plug is doing what it should Results are in 1 - 80 2 - 300 3 - 280 4 - 280 5 - 280 Lifters are all holding pressure. I'll attempt to clean them as per this video Couldn't get past step one no matter how hard I smacked it against some wood. Figured I'd try soak the old oil out And try step 1 again Nope. -

Went to Wellington and did Wagon stuff Averaged 10.4 litres per 100k for the whole trip which I'm happy with. It's so comfortable for long trips almost feels like business class ha. Picked up a diesel compression tester for the musso so will check that next -

Hmm thats a possibility. I'll pull it out and test it/shove one of the old ones back in -

Yeah I've heard /seem them splay open and get stuck or come out in pieces. Was more preventative maintenance and a while I I had access to them it was easy to change deal -

Glows came out complete and didn't look caked in carbon shit so I doubt something fell in/off them -

Haven't touched the pump at all timing wise. Only 1/3 a turn on the alda or boost aneroid but that's just more fuel under boost which is isn't seeing at idle. The injector lines can only fit one way. I also kept 1 2 & 3 clipped together. 4 I labelled but again it only fits in one place. -

On a less confusing happier note the cls wheels fit and seem to clear everything The black amg wheels aren't the right offset(et48 or something from memory) and I don't really like them Cls wheels are the same 18x8.5 but are et18 Much better /more flush now. Will swap the wheels over next week and get new tyres -

It was running really smooth and felt evenly down on power if that makes sense. It wasn't bucking or misfiring -

I'm trying to work out how it'd bend a valve from sitting for a week while injectors get serviced -

The musso has decided since I removed its external egr it'll create its own internal egr No 1 seems to be both intaking and exhausting Pulled valve cover off to see what's going on and just got more confused Far right lobe is no 1 exh. Then no 1 intake and so on It looks like the engine bucks when the exhaust lobe on no 1 hits the lifter. My first thought was the exhaust valve isn't opening and the combustion is still happening and escaping when intake valve opens. But then the chuff out of the intake seems to happen after the intake valve is closed. Could both lifters be pumping up or not draining and fucking with the valve timing? Has a valve shit the bed and bent? But if I had a bent valve surely there would be more mechanical sadness noises The valve is a bit grubby but from what I can see there is no cracks. It also holds fluid when it's closed and I fill it My alix Borescope wasn't much good for looking either -

Yeah only intake off, injectors out. Cleaned intake and reassembled everything Swapped injector 1 & 2 and fault still on one so not the injector No diesel compression tester -

Retorqued the injectors and swapped cyl 1 & 2 around as cyl 1 was doing a whole lot of nothing. It's still doing a whole lot of nothing I thiyht maybe some schmutz had got into the intake port but doesn't appear to be the case. It appears cylinder 1 is not doing combustion stuff. 2&3 have a slight change when injector lines are cracked 4&5 seem to be doing most of the work /doing what they should I'm getting pretty fast at taking the injector lines and intake off this bloody thing Will fire it up again in the morning and see if any compression is escaping out the intake valves or the lifters aren't doing lifter things. Seems weird that it was running fairly smoothly and now it's being dumb after having injectors serviced. I'm wondering if cyl 1 is being a dick and blowing stuff back into the intake which is affecting 2&3 The intake valve on 1 seems to be sealed (cam lobe up) I put a bit of fuel in and it didn't immediately leak out -

Scored some wheels for the wagon off trademe, 18s but better offset than what I have so I'll test fit and if they don't rub I'll run them. The sellers name and address seemed familiar and I realised it was the same guy who @Raizer bought his au from so it's a small world etc. -

Rain stopped luckily but was windy as battled with the new injector clips but got them in and everything reassembled. I also had the correct size fuel hose to replace the vacuum hose on the injector return Cranked it for ages until to got the air out It's got a 4/5 race cam Early merc injector torque spec is double the later models, I was cautious and went for the lower spec but looks like the injectors are leaking a bit of compression so will pull everything apart and re torque them and try again -

Wof sorted on wagon which is nice. Went on a barry Mercedes diesel journey. Genuine Mercedes crossover/boost tube gasket Part number if anyone cares (not many musso left and even fewer weirdos who want to fix them) Correct looking injector heat shields And a new oil pressure switch to replace the one that's leaking oil internally Now to install it all in the rain -

Injectors arrived New heatshields are wrong but others are on the courier and should be here tomorrow Torqued the glow plugs Put the intake on, realised I forgot the throttle linkage. Took it off and reinstalled it My egr butchery blank removed and better one in its place Cleaned the last of the schmutz out of the boost tube And sat it in place I gave the alda (boost aneroid) 1/3 of a turn so hopefully it gets a bit more fuel quicker as boost comes on. Cbf pulling the back off the pump to tweak the rest, it'll also need to run so I can make sure that it returns to idle after tweaking it. Gave it a oil change too but we all know what that looks like. Hopefully after all this work and a bit of money it'll end up being regularly slow not Fucking slow -

Some idiot owner butchered the tube so now that nice plug won't fit. Will keep a eye out for another tube. Injectors for the musso are ready, will hopefully receive them this week and can get it all back together before Easter -

Collected some camber & castor adjustment bolts today. Never felt more out of place or judged for walking into a business ha Everything ready to go in After a bit of a battle new lower control arm, new castor /front lower arm and new balljoint. Unsure which one wof man failed but the one in the castor arm was fucked and the other one wasn't much better. -

Injector guy said injectors are a bit worn and the pressure has dropped off but he can sort them. Parts ex aus so will be a few days. Had a cunt of a time on wagons ball joints/control arms today so down to zero drivable vehicles now. Decided to do some basic maintenance to make myself feel better Cleaned out the musso Intake. Pretty sure the schmutz re blocked the boost feed to the pump after did a half ass clean the other day Did the glow plugs as well since manifold was off Gave the ports a quick wipe and clean too. Reinstalled the boost rags into the ports to keep out the environment. I had thought that ssangyong had for the castings or something to get the licensed by Mercedes but they must be licensed to assemble the engines. Head cast in Germany and genuine Mercedes rocker cover gasket Intake manifold is also Mercedes but has ssangyong part number on it It's also got daewoo parts too So it's a Korean made gm daewoo Daimler benz powered thing -

Oooh my bad! Yeah I have tightened all the clamps and it made no difference. No signs of boost leaks (I left a clamp loose and saw some oil schmutz escaping and no change after re tightening it) No exhaust restriction I'm aware of as I had unbolted the downpipe to the muffler and it was equally slow, that was before sorting the boost feed to the pump though so could potentially be a issue It was surprisingly quiet with no muffler so the massive middle muffler will probably end up in the scrap bin with a bit of pipe to replace it -

Whipped the intake off in the slight hopes it'd be full of schmutz Wasn't bad enough to cause this amount of performance loss. Since I had most of it apart pulled the injectors out too. Chances are they have never been serviced so it won't hurt to have them checked over That might be the problem there Gave the intake a quick jizz of oven cleaner, degreaser and a waterblast Will give it another go over with more elbow grease at some stage to get the last of the crap out -

It had some pressure when I initially put the gauges on so I think it's just never been re gassed. It did hold the pressure from the first can over a week so it's good enough for now
