i often found the hilux abs fault was often wheel sensors covered in crud, or wiring damaged near sensors

poorly adapted factory bits usually work epic, one dosn't want to over-complicate things too much.
32/36 is probably one of the better options without the expense of a side-draft set-up.
unsure on jetting for your usage, only ever supplied the adaptor and mainfold, or used them on bigger engines without changes.

what cable actuator are you using on the Weber ?

yeah, fuck, bugger.
dragged the uki shitter into shed last nite, ripped deck off, today made pivot points and reinstalled deck,to find i will need multi-stage ewe-rooter to make it work better-er-er-er-. pivot friggen nice, though........ one handed empty stys
-
it's a case of who you know, and who you ask 'round these there parts'
found a free 12v pump, just gotta remove
also sourced 2 x 30mm ewe-rooters. one at 420mm-ish stroke the other 300mm ish stroke. $35 each
just need to scab a diverter and control valve and could be in business.

Why not t into your power steering system and just increase resivior size. I hear factory PS systems often reach over 1000psi. It might be slow but who cares? Will be faster than a hand pump! I fail to see any downsides and it'd be easy as fuck to.implement
that is currently my first failable option, then i go to dedicated hydraulic pump if it dosn't work.
-
would it be worth just rolling hand pump re-purposed jack stz?
only if FOB mounted, otherwise be knuckle-smashingly cunty to pump up.
ideally mechanical or electric pump so i can add another aux ram and diverter valve later for additional duties.
push comes to shove i can use a boat winch or a manual ram, but i do like the idea of in-cab control

ok it's mega low budget styles.
what size ram/s have you been looking at? another big factor in how it'll load the pump and your wallet
it dosn't need to be super high spec, as the deck is only 1050mm long, and the pivot point will be approx 250mm from end, so there is only about 80% of total weight being lifted (400kg if wet wood).
the deck only needs to be raised 450mm-ish to get it past 45 degrees, so if it is on a scissor-type underbody lift, ram would only need 250mm of stroke, or 500mm if direct acting front of body.
going to have a look at some rams this morning and have a chat to a couple of system designers, so will report back.
fucken 'puter froze on me last nite whilst bidding on an old hospital bed that had been used for M/Cycle repairs, manual pump, but remote ram, could have worked, if not could have used it for the aux ram i want to employ.

this thread is relevant to my interests.
What about the generic GM pumps? cheap as chip to buy new and pretty heavy duty, run PS and power assist brakes on heaps of big trucks
how are they driven ? pulley, helical cut gear, or electric ?
-
im running the same as above ^
but am going to upgrade to a self sensing facet style pump, that shuts off when it feels the float valve shut. meant to provide best results for bike carbs, i imagine the same for you,
originally had the low-pressure Facet pump(without reg), lent it to a mate who accidently sold it with his car and replaced with higher presure Facet pump. both self sensing, bith the higher pressure one would flood slightly and bog down too much, thus needing to regulate pressure. can't remember who's book i was reading, either Carrol Smith or corky Bell, but he claimed 0.25PSI of fuel difference can pull major gains (lap times) in certian NA applications, believe it was .5sec around certain US tracks in stock RX-7

bugger, just scrapped a tail-lift pump i couldnt give away for years!
does anyone know if P/S pumps are good for heavier duties, generally being a vane type, as opposed to gear type tailgate pumps?
http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/trucks/tippers-sliders/auction-898336595.htm
yip, seen that one. 24v and spendier than i hope to spend.
there is this one: http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=901161295, but would need someone to pick-up, strip essentials and freight down to me. price is right, but would expect to owe me many times that price once in Timaru.
i have found a suitable? ram at local scrappies, and did find what i hoped was a hilux P/s pump, but reckon it is L200. does use remote resivour though, but as you mentioned, unsure if vane pump gonna do the business??
-
Sw20 mr2 power steering pump.? It's 12v and compact
stockcar guys have pushed the price of those electric P/S pumps through the roof

smack a hilux/hiace p/s pump where the a/c pump would usually be. I say hilux/hiace coz heaps of 4wd rally guys run them and they can be mucked with easily. they're not too hard to get hold of, have a remote reservoir and seem to be fairly reliable in that application so should run a small tipper reasonably ok.
lots of dudes in the 4wd circles use them to run full hydro front steering and a steering ram on the rear. often at super low and high revs, and they require high speed reactions so it's much more demand than a tipper would ever be
thats good to know. they are as common as mud, might even have one stashed in a box in the bowels of my shed

are you wanting it to be tipping just so you can have a spot to chuck ya spare wheel that's not on the deck itself? that's how i read your post?
if so, perhaps a low profile roofrack to chuck it up on would be the go? not ideal if you get a puncture and have a load that you need to tip off the deck to get at the spare
want a tipping deck for ease of unloading, as well as access to best available space for spare wheel and keeping weight low
roof rack idea would have merits, but will get in the way when the soft-top is rolled back for spotlighting rabbits, possums etc

airbag not suitable, as i want to run auxillary rams later....... if i go hydraulic.
will get it hinged for a start so i can mount spare wheel, but it really needs mechancal tipping as will be doing plenty of firewood etc with it, as i am clearing broom, blackberry, bracken etc
-
So all you want to do is run the tail lift from 24v? What about a step up inverter for just the lift? How much current does it use?
yes, just the 24v hydraulic pump.
don't own pump yet, so don't know current draw. basically covering all bases, as the 24v unit are more plentiful and have greater rated capacity. am also considering running another smaller ram off same unit .
-
ok, so i have bought a certed 2-door flat deck vitara for our Catlins block clearing mission.
i need to make the deck tipping, as there is no other suitable position for the spare wheel apart from a cradle above fuel tank, and there isn't enough room to slide it under deck.
options are:
12v pump/resiviour off small taillift/wheelchair hoist ,
engine driven pump
struggling to find a 12v unit cheaply, used to give these away 5 years ago !!!, so engine mounted could be next cheapest option.
if it is engine driven, can i replace existing P/S pump and run steering on hydraulic fluid as opposed to ATF ?
alternatively , would a P/S pump provide enough pressure to run a small hydraulic ram or 2 ?
-
It's doable, but I would put it in the too hard basket myself, as it's easier to get a 24V alternator and fit that, or get some alternator man to rewind your alternator or something and fiddle with the reg to turn it into a 24V one (i'm assuming thats a thing anyway, i'm no alternator fixer uppery man)
and if i went 24 volt alternator, i would need a chunky invertor to run the 12v electrics of the vehicle.
i will have looksie and see if i can fit a engine driven hydraulic pump, as the electric ones i have been looking at are all 24v off a truck tail-lift
-
ok, on a flipside to this'
how easy is it to charge 2 x 12v batteries off 12v alternator to create 24v
what is gonna blow up ??
-
i am using procomp/profuel(cfr) rotary type adjustable reg for both the DHLA40,s and now 45's on Levin as i was advised non-adjustable ones can still over fuel
-
Are u sure it's the right clutch fork? I personally wouldn't cut the hole bigger
^^this.
looks like a T50 fork, as i have only seen cast forks for the W50, there may be a pressed steel option ?
-
Likely 1 in 100 tested. Then when you think about how many deployments happen, it's just such a small number. You don't have an airbag deploy because you had a little nose-to-tail in traffic, it takes some big shit to blow a bag.
haha, try telling that to the cockies that rushed out and bought -05 + Hilux's and had stubborn cows and the odd gateway set them off

I'd replace all of it with a Valiant while I was at it.

what's your budget ?
the belt driven 15cfm ingersoll rand i bought has served me well for over 12 years, this is it's 17cfm brother for similar money:

here's the one i have:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/business-farming-industry/industrial/compressors-pumps/compressors/auction-910077738.htm
weak point i have found is the wheels don't like rough ground ( centres break) and they nearly fit through the rear-side window of a VN Commonwhore !
