Three and a half years ago I got this ute from a farm down in nelson thinking that I am going to keep this forever. But times have changed and I am now selling her to fund my other projects. So the past few weeks I have been pulling her a part, cleaning , painting and polishing everything that was starting to look old and shabby. Just a few more little things to do then it will be on trademe. I will be putting it on for 7500ono if you are interested let me know.

  2. Hey man tidy starlet. i found when using picture hosting sites like photobucket etc. on an ipad it can flip them in all funny ways so i downlaoded this app called Imgupr pretty sure it was free and it's real easy to use. Just upload photo once uploaded press get embed codes. Then copy the code with at both ends of it. Then paste it in the reply bit down the bottom of the page.

  3. Thanks man. The lower link move is mostly just for ground clearance. But I guess it will correct geometry a bit. I will try and make top link and bottom links same length. If that is good?

Most of my reason for doing this is for low. 2nd reason is for that cross under chassis. 3rd reason just want to see if I can do it. I like making shit not really to fussed on the whole driving side.

I'm not sure how long s13 coilovers are but rough measurements from lower link to cage are 520 mm. Don't know if that helps.

  4. Well it probably won't achieve anything great. But I don't like it how the top arms cross under the chassis rail and could potentially hit the rail. Sooooo plan is to make the top arm straight go through the floor and mount to the bottom bar of the cage. Then move the lower arm mount on the body to behind the little box that it sits on at the moment. And because top arm is moved there will be a whole heap of space above lower arm to travel up.

And change how lower arm mounts to diff to make it parallel with road.

Then because all arms will be parallel so I intend to run a panhard rod.

I will be running coilovers, unsure if I will run a sprint car coilover that cardwels sells or something from s13 etc...

It will mount on bottom with two lugs that come off diff / lower arm bracket with a bolt though it. Up top it will be coming though floor at the same point as the shock did. And make another bar from the cage that goes back around behind the shock mount and across to do the same on the other side. Put a plate up under that bar and coilover mounts to that. Will see if I can draw something on paint to explain that a bit more.

  5. I have realised that I have now owned this starlet for over a year now and I have finally got the chance to fix something that I've been wanting to do since day one. The person that originally built this car had flared the guards in some funny way that made it look like it was from the 70s. The reason I have only done this now is because I was waiting for the wheels and tyres and ride height to be sorted. Wheels and tyres were sorted last weekend. So this weekend was ride height. I started by taking springs rite out with no bump stops. Way too low.

So I found some wood scraps we had lying around cut them up, put them between bump stop mount and spring mount.

All that burnt shit in this photo ^ is from this weird bracket the old owner had on it for some reason. Didn't know what it was so gas cut it off still have to grind it all up.

Pretty happy with this as my final ride height.

Also have been doing a whole bunch of planing in my head of my rear 5 link setup. Will talk about that some more in another post.

  6. Today I have been busy making a gearbox xmember. You are probably thinking why do I need to make one because I'm only using standard running gear.

Well it's because I have 3 starlet xmember and none of them fit. And instead on looking on the web for hours I decided just to make one. Didn't really know what I was doing but I talked to my dad and he said over design it so that's what I did.
