  1. 2000 should be fine for wiring , the biodegradable stuff was early to mid nineties (my 96 e200 suffered from it)

My dad has a 230k, been fairly problem free , I think he's had to replace afm and brake light switch (used for cruise control too so went into limp mode-fairly common on them) also ac does have a slow mystery leak

    then just tyres and servicing

Will a CB radio work in a positive earth setup - it has separate wires in the power feed, so I guess so? On side of the aerial is earthed too.

I suppose I could test it out with Seedy Al's loan radio first :)

I'd imagine you would need to rubber mount the CB so the case doesn't short it out?

is it a metal or fibreglass aerial? With rubber mounting?

  3. Powertool centre is who we use for work, but it's not coming out of my pocket so never cared about price

are they brushed motors check and see if they're getting low/bad connection that can cause it too and makes for a cheap DIY repair

About an hour North of Wellington is the Southward Car Museum, pretty decent

If you go on the 21 feb the car park will be full of motorbikes too (think you still have to pay to look at the cars/inside building) they may open up the workshops out the back too?

  5. Been a while since I've done maths/ohms but

Assuming the float is usually supplied 12v

    Vn would be full12v/40ohm= 0.3A @gauge

    12v/290ohm=0.041A @gauge

If you reduced the supply voltage (chuck a potentiometer in and adjust to correct voltage)

    With mitsi float

    5v/17ohm=0.29A @gauge

    5v/120ohm=0.041A @gauge

I could be completely wrong but that works in my head?

  6. why do some of the old petrol Highace have that realy loud intake sound on the over run? rrrrrrrrrrrrrr bawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaa

is it some stupid mod, get mags on the van and make the intake relay loud

Wife always knew I was almost home when I had one, mate had one too reckoned he fixed it/improved it by fitting new hose from air box to where ever it gets its air from as it was split? Didn't bother me so never looked into it

  7. I had this ages ago, turned out to be the cars connector, it worked fine with normal lights as they will still operate down till there's no voltage left give or take, where as LEDs are voltage sensitive so won't work on less then x Volts maybe check with volt meter?
