  1. So got sick of looking the primer/bogged rear quarters so spray bombed them with some satin black cause it was hurting my eyes looking at it in the shed till i get it sorted properly. Took it for a drive, couldnt even get it out my driveway without the guard rubbing on the tyre and basically stalling the car. Turns out on further investigation all the load leaves had been flipped to lower it some more, so basically had no spring tension in the rear. Pulled the leave pack apart and put everything in the right place, slightly raised the car but made it actually driveable an doesnt come close to touching the guards now! Couple of pics of it and the springs before unflipping. Yarns here
  2. Next up after getting busted buying flares i got back into working on the truck to get it sorted for Beach Hop. Had a week long break at the end of Jan to go for a boys roadtrip to Muscle Car Madness in Rangiora (if you aint been an like old cars and beers you got to go , its hectic as fuk) Anyway whilst i was away the mrs rustled some mates together to get the car and take it to another mate who knows a thing or two about rotarys to get it going (wasnt going when i bought it) . Long story short was a bit of a mess few things round the wrong way and what not and so got that sorted and got it running. Came home after a week long trip with the boys and got thrown the keys and told to go out to the shed to start the car haha. Nice crisp sounding motor starts mint as hot or cold so pretty happy with that. Will get it on a dyno and checked up and tuned before i go leaning on it too much. Couple of vids of start up and driving Next update coming soon
  3. Shit thats a throwback haha earliest photo iv seen of it, iv seen some of it on ROH ZS's and other modgys and a few other wheel combos but not that far back!
  4. Daily catch up update is up now haha. Fighting the urge to pull it too bits and start from scratch haha, going to do enough to get it useable/safe etc for summer is the plan at the moment. cheers man glad to have my hands on one, should of bought one 3-4 years ago when they were probably half the price they are now haha. Yeah pretty much the plan now, tidy up a heap of things, getting it looking good and everything going which is a decent job in itself. ah yes interesting i did know it was from wellington thats apparently when this motor got put in it which was supposedly a pretty nice wee 13b built by Lawton at the time...Body is solid and in good nick, couple of minor rust gremlins to sort and the guard hacking but to be expected for its age. Was suprised how mint and straight the floors and sills etc are on it. TBH dont know how i got this one past the boss but hey pulled it off somehow so its in the shed now haha.
  5. Todays update, The deal was no working on this/spending money till the chev truck was vinned/sorted for Beach Hop. Whilst on xmas holidays with a bit of spare time i managed to find the guy who makes the flare kits in Thailand with a listing on EBay. The car came without the rear flares they had been lost somewhere along the line. He agreed to sell me a new set of rear steel handmade flares to match the fronts already on the car. so fired away an order for those which didnt go down well with the boss But what can she do when they are already on their way haha. These turned up in late Jan and are yet to go on the car but will do when it goes to get a few wee rust gremlins sorted. Couple of pics below of how they look with the flares on from the seller/maker. Yarns
  6. hmmm good question, i have got to pull top hose off and replace so will check, it warms up/acts like it has a thermostat? but havent actually checked. id love to see how someone actually fitted them it must of been a mission. unsure how they hold air TBH haha. Cheers man very happy to finally have one, will be happier once i get shit sorted on it. have made good progress already though.
  7. Just before Xmas came across this 808 Coupe on trademe/insta for sale. Have always wanted a RX3/808 Coupe and timing and things kinda fell into place. Basic details are 808 Coupe: -12A Steel nose cone -13b bridgeport, 48mm IDA -S4/5 RX7 5 Speed box -S3 LSD rear end -Coilover front -Tidy black interior -Savanna Tail lights -Bolt on flares -15 x 10 with a 195/40/15 (stretched to tomorrow) and 15 x 11 with a 205/40/15 (Also stretched to tomorrow) BBS RS wheels. Got good bones and the right bits and pieces on it just needs a bit of love, has a few things to sort out and work through to get her sorted. Wasnt running when i picked it up which was a bit of a gamble. Pics of when i picked it up and bought it home, late night mission got home at 1am on a school night zzzzzzzz. Have done a fair bit already will post more updates during the week. Discussion fred below
  8. that intake/filter is real good! nice work!
  9. So good man, doing a epic job! Feel your pain on the steelwork the impala was so poked, been down that track and it hurts the wallet and mind thats for sure.
  10. Got the truck back together and driving now. Have put the running boards back on and shes nearly ready for vin! Took it for a quick jaunt up the road to grab a couple photos last night. Heres a couple of before and afters of the whole truck before/after rust and dent removal.
  11. Bit of a before and after of the truck deck from when we first picked it up.
  12. Got the timber deck put together on the weekend. Jarrah timber deck with new deck strips all painted up. Stoked with how its come out. One step closer to going for a VIN.
  13. 11 updates uploaded today! Has been a busy few months as you can see!
  14. Now we upto date at last night. Got the bumper back on and the front end together with the lights on. Found a Fulton Visor from the states which was already green/patinad so matches the truck quite well i think! Got that on test fitted. Thats all the updates for now But with lockdown for the next month im planning on getting it all back together and to a stage i can take it for a VIN once we are allowed out of the house.
  15. Had a mate come round one night and we cleaned up and unsealed the underneath of the tray and cab, inner guards etc. Painted the bed strips satin black ready to put the timber in for the final time. Also got some tyres test fit on the artilleries with the new hub caps and whitewalls. Looking forward to getting these on!
  16. Got the tray panelbeated, the one bit of rust on it fixed and the new bed strips welded in. Then took it to a mate whos a cabinet maker and we spent the day making new timber for the deck.
  17. Next up picked up the cab and chassis and took it over to EZE Auto Electrics in Tga who did my Impala. Tidied up what wiring was needing to be replaced, wired up front indicators, horn, lights to RHD spec, finished the 12V conversion , wired up the old siren etc. Got ignition hooked up (was on a switch) so its running and starting off the key and ready for a VIN. While the panelbeater continued on the tray. Couple of before and afters showing how much straighter the cab and front end is now!
  18. Seat wouldnt move backwards and forwards so pulled that out and cleaned up all the sliders and got that working again. Also spot welded new bed angle strips on the side of the tray as the old ones were rusted out. Gave the panels a good bang with a hammer and dolly and straightened them out a heap! Gas welded up any splits or breaks in them as well.
  19. Next up was get stuck into the rust. Managed to find a skilled older tradesman who was keen to tackle it. And also keen to let me come and help him which was awesome. Learnt a heap of new skills and was epic watching him hammer and dolly out the dents. The front drivers side door had swung round and stoved in the corner of the cab as well as bent the door at some point. The yanks must of tried to bang the dent out from behind via piercing holes in the inner guard to put a bar or something through to hammer dent out from the inside (unsuccesfully) it ended up leaving a heap of holes for water to get in which in turn rusted the bottom of the inner and outer cab corner out. The rear cab corner also needed replacing on the same side, outer only. Had a bit of rust around one tail gate hinge to fix as well. Apart from that she was solid as , floors and doors and guards are good as! Next up was get stuck into the rust. Managed to find a skilled older tradesman who was keen to tackle it.
