  1. About 4 hours thrown at it today this will be about where I get to till I get more argon.

Wastegate plumbing back into downpipe all 3.5" from here back, left it here as I can add to it later and gives me clearance to do a few little bits once everything is in car so i clear shit like chassis rails and steering rack.

Going to definitely need some heat shields and right angle spark plug leads,  everywhere has 10-20mm of clearance though I reckon my bonnet will need some ventilation on passengers side!

  2. Ever so slowly working on this im reluctant to take car off road to fit stuff as I'm enjoying driving it glad I've got the tape measure and dummy engine.

Anyway finished front portion of crossover pipe not going to join them up to manifold yet as in the car there is a conflict with the lower radiator pipe, and I need to get the plumbing at right height it is only a 90 degree bend and some straight so that's easy enough in car.

    My down pipe conundrum.

I had wanted to build the whole exhaust in 3.5" but the size of the bends just didn't fit so now done front 30cm in 3" everything fits and looks right now.

I've fitted a reducer to hook the two different size of pipes together and need to order another 2x 3.5" v bands one for downpipe and one to go near diff as whole exhaust is currently 1 piece up to manifolds.

Trying to just cruise and do really nice work for this last part I can Tig again nicely, so long without doing much took a while to get my eyes and hands back working together again.

  3. Post race have put the car back road trim, left the race tune in and have kept it fed on Gull E10 as the economy and drivabilty are better than stock!

Next piece of puzzle came for my l67 long block I needed L36 heads (ecotec) as these don't have injectors in the head and my l67 ones are cracked I found a set up in Auckland on trademe that were up for ages and last minute put a bid on reserve got them for $50.

Plan is to give the ports a very minor tidy up little metal by looks that can come out anyway so just remove casting dags add new stem seals and give them a valve grind.

Slowly going I reckon I need to financially recover from Christmas or sell something..... will see what happens. Can still fit intercooler and make pipes over break as that won't cost much or stop car from been drivable.

  4. My commodore was pretty hungry on oil not super terrible just needed a top up or 2 between changes and would smoke bad on decell.

I switched to 10/30 or 10/40 whatever is half price full synthetic and it doesnt burn a drop between changes or smoke.

Just rolled over 500,000ks and 40 passes at the drag strip now.

My logic was thicker mineral oil leaves a thicker film on bores that can be burnt synthetic doesnt burn as readily and a thinner film should be helpful too.

Im sure my valve stem seals are hard as coal too still seems to work.

Good to see it out there again.
Was meaning to come have a chat but I think  you were too busy just racing the hell out of it.
    Awesome day!

Was a pretty full on day lost track of how many passes i ran in end car is a mess with timeslips.

  6. Well surpisingly this thing took an absolute repeated hiding today at the OsDrags like a champ, and the hot air induction and exhaust worked it went as quick as 16.0 but settled into repeated 16.2's the rest of the day and even started turning the tyres off the line a bit as well as the day went on.

Plugged the laptop in during day, small changes did show results mainly bumping stuff around with the trans line pressure and shift points in setting the rev limit to 6000rpm got me the 16.0.

Was more fun then last year not having my ass handed to me every race will probably do a night speed meeting soon before bolting on the turbo.

I raced a guy in a 300zx and im sure if i turned off the aircon i would of got him! Was bloody close

  7. Had to change my middle muffler from centre-centre to offset-centre as it saved using 3x 90 degree bends. Initally was really loud but put about 50ks on it has settled down and is louder than i'd normally go for the turbo will shut it up once its on. Theres 3 mufflers already no room for any more.

2500 rpm onwards it loves it way more go it doesnt sound horrible if anything id say it sounds like a 300zx.

Exhaust looks really low its just perspective probaby has 130mm under it its lowest point.

  8. All back together ready for a wof. All measurements taken to finish the turbo setup outside of car.

Had a heap of electrical gremlins as I'd opened so many plugs discovered the firing order was out of whack, used tunerpro to wade through it one at a time got sorted.

Actually feels pretty quick for a 500,000k slug.

  9. Assuming the part is the dryer?? Can it just be moved back towards fire wall.

Is it sensitive to pipe length or height etc staying same height can be done just lengths will change a lot. The pipework does what appears to me a pretty pointless zigzag on way from fire wall to dryer.

    I know bugger all......

I have the tooling to crimp custom lines, can get a huge variety of different fittings and even weld on ends

You've probably seen a commodore engine bay or 2 just looking at again if the "receiver" was just moved behind the stru tower by firewall that would fix my issue. There's a big zig zag section in there that could be straitened out.

I could probably handle the welding now just interested what parts are worth. Are parts pricey?

Got room for an ac job?

  11. Hey some chat on forums but nothing with enough information for me to work with.

Who can do modified ac stuff? I need to move the attached thing and its lines under my turbo its in the absolute wrong spot could be moved ahead of turbo by radiator.

I don't know anything about air conditioning stuff so feel free to educate me.

  12. Limitations accepted back to progress!

Manifold needed turbo rolled over about 30 degrees to get exhaust housing a bit more clearance around a few things good 20mm everywhere solid now Manifold is welded 100%.

Starting on drivers side crossover plumbing to go under AC pump. Piece of cake today even those AC lines look manageable.
