  2. i do know of a mk1 escort in whangerei built for hillclimbs rocking a boosted fiat v6 car is mental. anyway he runs a toyota 5 speed and uses lada niva transfer case to send drive back to the front wheels unsure what diffs he was running but front was independent. what are you planning for an engine?

  3. mucked around the with the triumph injection years back and had some real success with it had it running with a lancia volumex supercharger on a 2.5 when that vomitted up its bearings i dropped in a worked 2 litre ditched the blower and injected that. was always blowing up fuel bosch pumps though and every trip you never new if you'd make it home, So am trying to make something work that is set and forget as this car is just going to be a fast cruiser in saying that the induction roar of the big six without airfilters is something thats hard to forget.

  4. Yeah leaky throttle shafts are always a bastard hence why i'm looking at other options to the triumph injection can get costly real fast fixing shit like that. also downdrafts will give me room to make a decent set of extractors. Dont want to end up with 3 carbs that are constantly going out of tune that would drive me batshit crazy too.

  5. wanting to do somthing a bit different on the trumpy was looking on trademe for bike carbs and idf webbers keep popping for around $250 a pair or a $175 single within price range of what i want to spend. question is what are they like to tune do they need constant fiddling to keep them running sweet, never mucked around with webbers just SU's holleys and the odd mikuni.

  6. had some experience welding up broken machine parts welded up completely borked guides on bandsaw at my old work under guidence of clued up "olde" school engineer, process was V out the crack then get it nice and hot with gas torch pre heat a stainless welding rod (just getting it hot on scrap works) then squeeze crack closed and weld it up and let it cool off in air. done plenty cast stuff this way now seems to work well and last.

  7. 4k for two broken fingers, I think you got a good deal lol

$5200 written off all up, a valuable lesson the other fines were 100% kosher and justified it only takes 1 bad apple to undo the work of other good cops that genuinely snapped me. when your right you got to stand up and make some noise and try go to the top to sort it, worked for me. Got to rattle that cage.

  8. Here is my scenario when it happened when i was 19

Driving my pissed mates car home EX Lancer at 2 am that lets just say was very tidy wof and reg but very tired 1300cc engine it called it quits and died on harris road in east tamaki a Known illegal drag racing area we pushed it to a gas station and proceded to lock it up and walk away when this 25+ year old male and women cop rock up and ask to see my llicence she was professional as headed back to car to check my details 10- 15 minutes go by. then the male cop comes back and this guy was angry shaking a $1200 fine in my face and goes this car was doing burnouts near the air port earlier (cop now red in face) so i replied wrong car man this thing is dead and has been on its way for months, next thing i know i am slammed face first into bonnet of car arm twisted up behind back with this prick shouting shit at me in front of concerned people on forecourt of a gas station. i got 2 broken fingers from it the female cop then came to my rescue pulling him off they then went back to car then just drove away. monday morning i went directly to the police Commissioner George hawkins and sat outside his office till i got in to see him he told me i was a hoon sent me on my way.

Now the good part my mother fired his office a letter saying the petrol station had whole thing on video (they did and gave us a copy)

we had copies and would be forwarding to the herald unless he sorted the situation. wednesday morning i got a phone call from his office asking if the waiving of the fine from the night my other 4k i had at time would be sufficient to make me not go to media?

It was and i've stayed out of shit since.

  9. oven cleaner is the shit on really thick nasty subframe type grease followed by waterblasting after a good hour or so to eat in. i've found cheap and nasty degreasers from the warehouse to be nothing but excellent. dont splash out for top dollar stuff. i'm converting a dishwasher to run degreaser and caustic soda for engine bits to clean out water gallery's in heads in stuff.

  10. aye?

the rear hubs are fixed to the rear trailing arms so raising the diff will only alter the angle of the rear 1/2 shafts......the wheel camber will not be altered what-so-ever.

Diff is mounted to same subframe the swingarms are mounted too raising the diff pushes the inner swingarm mount up. its not gong to give you zero camber when right down but for the minimal effort to swap the rubbers around its worth it to slow down tyre wear. if your swing arm rubbers are sad though nothing will help but nolathane replacements.

  11. hey havnt bought these myself yet but a quick mod you can do is swapping the rear rubbers on the diff mounts to raise it altering trailing arm angle

for now this has got my cars camber under control though i havnt gone mad on the lowering yet.... will be dropping another 50mm lower in year.

  12. You won't break an R200 with a Triumph.

    100% correct

Triumph motor not staying in forever though havnt decided what to replace it with yet so so trying to set up to not break whatever goes up front.

Car should never end up with more than 300hp though unless i win lotto of course.
