I wonder if LTNZ (or whoever is in charge) did the numbers in terms of accidents caused by mechanical faults (or WOF inspection fail) vs vehicle age for vehicle less than 3 years old, vs 2000~, vs pre-2000 vs 40 year old + (as per rego reduction threshold)? also vs total mileage.
i assume the former would give roughly bell curve, the latter exponential.

or whichever comes first.
EDIT. yes i concur.

For installation of monsoon shields (and a whole bunch of others, quite often) VIRM says
"In-service requirements for condition and performance must be met."
What does it actually mean?
The specific question I have though is, if there are any transparency requirements, can it be opaque (I think I've seen ones made out of metal, for older cars) for monsoon shields,
If the area of the side glass where monsoon shield overlap needs to meet 35% VLT combined etc.

im curious to read about this sort of discussion 100 years back re: ICE powered cars in its infancy. no. seriously. Letters to editor type deal or maybe early version of talkbalk.

I think it pops the windscreen end so the head doesn't smash so hard.
You can do when you go thru diagnosis mode and change a whole bunch of settings.

Was interesting to hear that it cant be sold in many countries outside of the US, due to it not meeting the pedestrian impact laws that most countries have.
i thought the US was the nanny state when it comes to cars? like fuel economy, 5 mph bumber, emission etc etc.
speaking of which, a lot of citroen c6 owners disabled the bonnet impact pyro thing which makes it peds friendly when ped-car collision, because it pretty much writes the car off.

im pretty sure the rebate kicked the price up by about the same amount when it was introduced, at least the cars i was looking at

Yeah so I bitched out and bought this CantBeFucked250. Purely cause it was cheap as. 1k with a brand new wof. Couple scratches and shit here and there but meh I'm probably gonna dump it a couple times anyway.
Runs well and rides sweet as. Not a powerhouse by any stretch but it'll do to wham me through the licenses. Is a cunt to get into neutral while the engine is running and it's stopped so hoping an oil change and a clutch cable adjustment fixes it. Overall I'm happy for what I paid, figure ya can't go too wrong at that price.
more importantly it has a matching-ish colour with multipla.

regardless it's a daily or a "collectible", 6 monthly wof is no big deal if you got your car in tip top shape, as it should be. if you can't manage your dozen-car fleet to be roadworthy and wof'd, i think you got your hands too full.
and i don't see why responsible daily driver owners who keep their cars fully roadworthy treated any different to responsible "collectible" owners, if wof is to be exempted.
