Mazda rotary life. Or Honda life. I don't think its the fact the Renesis is lacking torque but more that its a Rotary in a heavier car. To me its why these engines suit smaller lighter cars. Or like you say, supercharging them. But then its not the clean simple uncluttered N/A engine anymore.
Need more Renesis powered NC MX5s...

I really like the RX8, but couldnt live with the terrible lack of torque down low. Would love to try a supercharged one.

Wow, thats a really nice looking example. Shame about the engine, but will be worth it when youre done! I really miss my AW11 even though it was also an auto and tried to kill me a few times.
is the paint original?

The key with any CVT is regular fluid changes, with proper fluid.
Im very happy with the CVT in my Honda Fit daily, wouldnt want anything else for putting around in shitty wellington rush hour traffic.

I had a Mk5 Golf GTI and loved it. 180,000km jap import, Nothing was broken, nothing went wrong, it was fast enough and DSG was great to drive. The non turbo DSG boxes are known to fail, and the early GTIs had some inherent issues.
Sold it because i was poor and needed money.

Ill be following this thread closely. Will be in the market for a cover soon too. Will be used during the week, car will be used weekends but it lives outside with no option of a carport or shelter (rental) but will be on a concrete pad. It also needs to withstand some wind, being welly. Car will be regularly polished, but i dont want to damage the paint too much. Mainly just want to keep the sun off the paint so it doesnt fade/peel, and keep the pine needles from fucking everything like usual.

What the fuck did you do to that front bumper?
haha glad im not the only one thinking it!

Your driving skills are a bit average, and you really need a camera with (better?) stabilisation with a solid mount like that, almost get motion sick from all the jiggling and shaking in your video.

Took a bit to dredge this thread back from the brink!
Love the new color, and a very cool project in general.

Something to keep in mind, British Car Day at Trentham is 14th Feb too.

Looking good. Just out of curiosity, what was the reason for the change from turbo to SC?

Warehouse Stationary has some pretty sweet deals on label makers for the next day or two.
That Rhino one on Amazon seems like an awesome machine, but no direct shipping to NZ, and you'd need to check the availability of the tapes.

The end goal looks amazing, definitely going to keep an eye on this.

This lives local to me.... and has done so twice. I swear its actually following me. Seen it parked up for months, and then one day it was gone. Was gutted, thinking they had sent it to scrap or something, but sure enough a month or so later its back again. Stoked!
What'd they have done? Looked like it was surround with various gearbox bits for a while there.

I hope today doesnt fail to meet our "at least one merc arrives on the back of a flatbed per day" quota, its been 100% bang on so far this week.

Expensive to fix when they inevitably end up on the back of a flatbed, expensive to service and reliability is questionable... but in saying that, brutal power, lush comfort and a sound that makes all the issues no longer matter. Get a warranty, make sure it covers everything (including airmatic shocks) and drive the pants off it.

i know where another twin plenum vitesse is, and i know what he wants for it dollar wise... sadly i could never do owning it the justice it deserves as its mint, so ill settle for a single plenum i can drive the tits off.

Oh man, wish i had a garage to make that my project. Still a year or two off being able to take something like that on
If i got one in that shape it sure wouldnt be a TC rep i would build. Always wanted to put something like a beams 3sge in one (or back when i had my Marina, a 4age).
